Motel 6-Mitchell, SD

You get what you pay for. Walls and floors dirty. Endless flies in bathroom. Stairwells filthy. Plastic bag covering the smoke detector and outdoors visible at night. Paint peeling off walls.stairwell ceiling caving it. No pool, nasty looking.

Property wasn’t what it was advertised, non smoking room that people had clearly been smoking in as you could smell it, bed sheets with cigarette burns and dirty. Air con was broken. The swimming pool had no water and was filthy. Very very poor standards

Seasonal pool that opens in May(?)was not open on June 8th. Was more like a ln 18" mud bath. Nothing was plugged in inside the room. A booger decorated the ceiling. A q-tip is lodged in the wall ac. When walking around the island of units. There is some ⅖shady wiring going on. Along with eroding cement from using ice melt. Bathroom towels and bedding had multiple stains. The smoke detector in the room was stained yellow. Only one lightbulb in either receptacle was actually in. Neighboring unit has a broken window.

Pool was closed. Flies in the room.

The hotel advertised that they had a swimming pool which was a lie. The pool had about 6 inches of dirty water in it with trash and possibly dead birds. It was full of bugs and was disgusting. It was a health hazard and also a safety issue. The rooms were subpar, dirty, stained, pillowcases, unknown brown substances on the ceiling above some of the beds, broken vents hanging out of the ceiling in the bathrooms, a missing smoke detector with the battery hanging out of it in one of the rooms, broken vents on the air conditioning unit in one of the rooms, and overall just very dirty. we booked six rooms at this hotel because we were on a family trip and one of the factors in choosing this hotel was the fact that it had a pool for the young people that were in our party. It was very disappointing. The overall impression of this hotel is That it is basically vacant. There were no other cars in the parking lot except for ours so I’m not sure why they split our rooms up. This also made for inconvenience. If I could have replanned my trip, I would have found a different hotel for sure!

Pool has not been open in at least several years, water damage in the room, but for the price, it was clean enough otherwise. Pets stay free.

Nice room for a good price. The pool was closed and the pet area over grown with weeds. The exterior needs some maintenance. The staff was friendly and helpful.

After 11 parking lights and balcony walkways lights was off . Wake up 6 am lights was off , dark I use my phone light to walk star down .

No pool. Obviously closed for years. Great price.

This property has not been well maintained. The pool looked like it hadn't been opened in years. The rooms were okay. If you're just looking for a place to sleep and nothing else.It's perfect

The most filthy motel I have seen, rates as a Mexican jail

It was a relatively clean, quiet place to crash for the night. Don’t expect more, it’s Motel 6. My biggest complaint: the shower curtain was moldy. The rest of the place was just surface-clean. Walk on the linoleum floor in white socks and you’ll regret it. Take some flip flops.

MOLD

Every towel and wash rag had stains on it. The floor was so filthy it was sticky to walk on. I accidentally spilled a little water on the floor and wiped it up with a wash rag and the rag was brown and nasty when I looked at it. Staff was nice but the place is filthy.

Room had a lot of flies. Dead bugs and part of a dead bug that looked like a cockroach under and between bed frame and wall. Top blanket had some suspicious smears. Didn’t look like clean sheets. After attending a function and returning to room at 10pm ,we left and went to a different motel at 11pm. I would like a refund.

Room was dirty. Sticky drink rings on the night stand and floors were sticky to walk on. Stained sheets with holes and towels. AC unit smelled of mildew

This hotel was not clean. There was visible dirt on the floor and walls. The bedding was old and stained. Beds old and had a bug. Location is great so hopefully they update the hotel. We could not stay there due to the conditions and we were told we would be refunded. Hopefully this happens. Those running the hotel offered a new room and were apologetic, but we needed to just move on.

Very dirty motel. Had to have front desk replace our dhower curtain. It was full of MOLD. I took a picture of them as well as other pictures in our room.

Dirty beds, dirty bathroom, flies in the bathroom, whole room smelled horrible.

Run down, dirty rooms and bathrooms. Property is run down, looks like a lot of people love the full time. But it was the only place around with availability for one night.

Don’t let the outside fool you. Bedroom and bathroom were very nice and clean. A spacious bathroom amd wooden floors so a person didnt have to deal with gross carpets.

AC unit was so loud it was hard to sleep and I normally sleep well with loud constant noise.

The motel is old and not kept up. Our bed was supposed to be a queen but it was a queen frame with a full size mattress. The room was chilly and the heater didn’t work. The lawn was filled with weeds.

The hot water was lukewarm at best, the room was very small and the heater was worn out.

The room was clean, out dated.

very friendly service, although the TV did not work nor did the heater dog friendly, safe well lit parking lot I didn’t mind that the TV wasn’t working because I didn’t watch it anyways it was a little chilly but again their dog friendly so I snuggled up with my dog. Slept well took off early.

My room was clean but worn and a little distressed. Nice bed, cold AC, blazing fast wifi, big shower. Good TV options. It's on the west side of town right off the freeway -- the older part of town before the action moved to the south side of I-90 after Cabela's opened there, launching a burst of retail, restaurant, and hotel activity. Nothing to see within walking distance, but a quick drive to an excellent grocery and liquor store -- handy to stock up the minifridge and nuke in the included microwave. Friendly staff, super fast check-in. I think they're trying hard to improve the place, and I like to support their efforts with my patronage.

Rooms are tiny and very outdated blankets have burn holes on them pillows are flat beds are very uncomfortable will probably not be stayong here again

Very poor internet. Otherwise not too bad for the price.

The person who checked us in was very polite. The day we checked out the lady didn't understand what I was asking and then shrugged her shoulders, that kinda threw me off

No working pool, building falling apart, ceiling chunks about to fall from overhang, poorly patched walls in room, rude staff when asking about discrepancies in description, stated no cancellation policy. Handed over key and left. Absolutely not as advertised.

Check in was quick and 24/7.

The guy at the front desk tried opening our door when we had 20 min left of our stay to check out. If my boyfriend didn’t have the lock on he would’ve totally just barged in. Definitely not a great way to end a, up until then, decent stay.

Reserved four rooms for 6 nights through Expedia at $60.68/night (tax included). At check in, I was told I had only reserved one room. I asked the clerk to pull up my son-in-law's name (one of the other three reservations I made) and voila, it appeared and he was able to check in. Had the clerk pull up another name of our party and it too was in the computer, as well as the fourth member's name. When i asked the clerk to pull up the fourth name, it had mysteriously disappeared,The clerk proceeded to charge me for all three of the first three rooms and said he did not have a fourth reservation. After asking for the owner/manager, he assured me that even though I had only reserved one room, he would "take care of me" and told two of his staff something in their native language. One of the staff then tried to charge me a "special" price of $100/night for the fourth room. I told him no, so he countered with $75/night. I told him that was not the rate I had booked at and he then countered with $70/night. i lost my temper at this point, having been dealing with these clowns for an hour and 20 minutes so far. I screamed at them "I don't care what you charge me. Charge me whatever you want because I will be disputing all the charges and claiming fraud, so you will get ZERO!" Suddenly had their attention and after conversing further in their native language, they reduced the nightly rate on the fourth room to $49.95/night (plus tax) and charged my card for the fourth room.

No coffee much less any breakfast. Stains on bedspread from dog paws and wash clothes were washed, but stained also. Steps to upstairs need paint and pool is inoperable. A/C unit was plugged with dirt and debris. Not up to Motel 6 standards.

Close access to food options and to interstate. Staff very professional and pleasant.

Everything was in walking and driving distance.

Great location off highway but the Room was very outdated, towels were old and had a black tint to them. Sheets were stained yellow and probably 30 years old. It was not worth the $53 we paid through hotels.com

Room was comfortable and clean. Not really any breakfast other than coffee. Bathrooms need updated.

Got put in a smoking room when I’m allergic to smoke because of a big hunting deal going on. It was a big party outside our room our phone didn’t work to call the front desk. Everything brown and yellow from smoke and stunk so bad! Not clean. No coffee in lobby it was out. Not worth the jacked up price I had to pay. I’m seriously disappointed

Old bed linens, non-smoking room had a cover with a burn hole in it. No coffee pot in room, window needs replacing you can’t see through foggy panes, a/c would not shut off, I had to pull the plug. Horrible hard bed, thin scratchy blanket. Extremely dirty stained cloth chair at desk to sit at. Staff was efficient at check in but I would not recommend this location.
