Initially, we had plans to explore towns in the area (Blowing Rock and Boone). However, once we arrived at River Rock, we never left. The home is cozy, clean, and has everything you need for a relaxing vacation. We loved having coffee in the morning, and lunch in the afternoon, on the large deck while listening to the creek. We enjoyed our evening hot tub. But the property was the highlight of our vacation. There is a lot to explore without having to drive anywhere. We loved the creeks and hiking to the waterfalls. We wanted to get away from everything and relax in seclusion. River Rock delivered.

Beautiful scenery, and beautiful cabin. I would recommend if you want to stay by yourself. Natural walk to the waterfall, and creek. Hot tub is always a plus just would recommend some more lighting around it. I will be back for sure!

We loved the stream, firepit, and hot tub! The cabin was exactly as described and we had no issues. It's very remote, but that's exactly what we were looking for.

The home is spacious and just perfect! I love it when a host has spices and seasonings for cooking in the home!! The tranquility at this location is just perfect! I loved just sitting outside and listening to the creek. We hiked up to the waterfall which was not far. We loved the hot tub in the evening with a glass of wine. Plenty of room for everyone!! The downstairs area is great for kids or adults who need a really raucous game of fooze-ball! We loved our stay and would definitely come back. !

We stayed here for a few nights this spring. The cabin is awesome! Plenty of room for our family of four and our dog who loved the ability to roam free and play in the beautiful, peaceful creek flowing through the property. The cabin is well stocked with many amenities and supplies. Plenty for the kids to do with tree swing, hot tub, game room, and tons of movies to choose from. The whole process was seamless and John was quick to communicate as needed. I highly recommend this property for a relaxing mountain get away.

This property is all it is described to be and then some. We enjoyed every bit of the outdoors from hiking to the top of the waterfall to tubing down the creek. Each night a bonfire brought us together to reflect on the day. Very cozy home with hundreds of movies to entertain the kids before bed. Kim and John were responsive to questions and ideas. Highly recommend!

Book this property, it's the one! We spent a week here with our 1 and 4 year old plus our dog. 30 minute drive to Boone proper. Close to the Blue Ridge parkway which leaves a short but beautiful drive to Blowing Rock. Private and secluded with the mature trees. The creek was great fun for the kids. Hiking to the waterfall was a real treat. Saw several trout in Elk Creek but no luck catching. Tons of household items stocked in the event you forgot something. Two hug decks to enjoy paradise on. Hot tub was fantastic. Well decorated, each level has its on mini split for temp. Grill was clean and had extra propane. Good water pressure in the showers. We have stayed at at least 5 different mountain properties and this one is a winner.

Our family met in Boone to celebrate my wife's birthday. Wonderful place, great amenities and beautiful setting. Enjoyed the mountain stream, hiking in the woods, soaking in the hot tub, and relaxing in this great environment. The kitchen had everything you needed and there were plenty of recreational games/activities. Many of the spring wildflowers were blooming, especially the trilliums.

I have two separate reviews for this property. The outside area on the creek was just stunning. Nicer then the pictures on vrbo. My dogs were in heaven. We just loved the outside area and would rate it 10. However the inside cabin and deck area and patio furniture was dirty. The deck was 90 percent covered in black mildew the patio furniture covered in green algae. It was awful. The carpet was filthy with black stains all over,which I cleaned with carpet clean. Dust everywhere shelves ceiling fans. The place needs a lot of maintenance and heavy cleaning. My friend fixed the sliding glass doors which we couldn’t open. I did inform the owner upon arrival. He seems nice but truthfully the place needs alot if work. So if your neat freak this is not your place. I recommend for kids snd dogs. Not couples without kids. It’s sad because the outside was hands down the nicest property we have ever rented. But inside just the opposite. The made did her job as bathroom kitchen and showers were clean. This needs maintenance and pressure cleaning. I took pics. But don’t know how to Post. So outside by creek we give a ten. Inside cabin a two

We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay at River Rock. The house is cozy and the hot tub is an added bonus. Only issue was the house cleaner got our dates mixed up and showed up the morning after we checked in to clean from the previous guests. Luckily it wasn’t a mess and we just had to make up the one bed we stayed in.

We had a short trip, stayed 2 nights & 1 day. Unfortunately, it rained the whole time. We did manage to enjoy the creek during the brief moments that it stopped raining. We absolutely love the property. The cabin could be cleaner and could use some updates-replace burned out light bulbs, stained bedding, carpet. That being said, we hope to go back again with our Son and his family.

Simply fantastic, the place is wonderful. In addition to the mountains and trees being beautiful, a wonderful stream runs through the property. The house is wonderful and the owners are polite and attentive. Clean, beautiful and organized. Score 10, congratulations!

Wow. We have stayed at maybe 5 mountain cabins with our family and this is one of the best, by far. Excellent amenities and property. Everyone loved the space. Our kids loved the large yard and foosball table. Thank you so much for sharing your magical space.

We had a wonderful time at this lovely cabin! The house was the perfect size for a family getaway. It was equipped with everything we needed, including a fully stocked kitchen. The beds were very comfortable. The hot tub was a huge plus too! However, what made the stay truly magical was the stream that runs along the cabin. I wish I could spend every evening sitting by their fire pit in the listening to the rushing water of the stream and gazing at the all of the brightly lit stars. John and Kim were also very kind and responsive. We cannot wait for another stay here!

Cozy but spacious cabin! This was perfect for our family of 6. Our host was very responsive when needed. This home offered everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The outdoors was perfect for kids to run and play. We will definitely be back!

My family and I enjoyed a lovely long weekend at River Rock. We had three teenagers and two dogs and there was plenty of room for all. The cabin is cozy and has everything you might need. Kitchen is fully stocked. We loved the stream and exploring the property with our dogs. They may have loved it the most since it is such a treat for them to run off leash. The hike to the waterfall was a treat too. We came up for the weekend for spring football at The Rock and it was an easy but twisty drive into Boone. Thanks for sharing your place with us John and Kim!

This was the perfect place for our two families to get away! The property had so much outdoor space for us to explore. We enjoyed skipping rocks in the creek and hiking up to the waterfall. The house was cozy and had lots of family games. Downstairs was the perfect hangout spot for our preteens/teen!

Rolled in, moved in, and enjoyed a week in this private little cabin! Elk Creek rolling by the house was the icing on the cake. Enjoyed a night or two (dodging thunderstorms) out by the fire pit, watching the stars and satellites. Enjoyed walking up to the waterfall. Had fun trying (Grrrr) to catch some of the trout in Elk Creek. Quick drive to Boone and Blowing Rock. Very fun and will be looking to book again soon!

We have stayed at at least 5 different mountain properties and this one is a winner.
Book this property, it's the one! We spent a week here with our 1 and 4 year old plus our dog. 30 minute drive to Boone proper. Close to the Blue Ridge parkway which leaves a short but beautiful drive to Blowing Rock. Private and secluded with the mature trees. The creek was great fun for the kids. Hiking to the waterfall was a real treat. Saw several trout in Elk Creek but no luck catching. Tons of household items stocked in the event you forgot something. Two hug decks to enjoy paradise on. Hot tub was fantastic. Well decorated, each level has its on mini split for temp. Grill was clean and had extra propane. Good water pressure in the showers. We have stayed at at least 5 different mountain properties and this one is a winner.

I booked River Rock for our Christmas trip this year. We did have a few very minor issues, none of which were the fault of the host, and John was so helpful when I addressed the minor problems. He checked on us to make sure everything was going okay (I, unintentionally, made him put in a good amount of work to get ahold of me! I’m so sorry about that John!) I highly recommend this property and the host. We had a wonderful Christmas and we hope to make trips up to River Rock a tradition. Thank you!!

My wife and I and our two dogs and our two grown children planned a 10 day stay. The property is amazing. The locations and size was perfect for the dogs to run and for our overall relaxation. Unfortunately during our stay nature decided to pay us a visit with Hurricane Helena. John and Kim arrived on scene as soon as they could to check on us. They brought us much needed water. John quickly made repairs. Even though we had to camp it for a few days(outdoor grill is amazing) the overall experience was something we will never forget. Our hats go off to John and Kim for such a quick response to our situation.

We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay at River Rock. The house is cozy and the hot tub is an added bonus. Only issue was the house cleaner got our dates mixed up and showed up the morning after we checked in to clean from the previous guests. Luckily it wasn’t a mess and we just had to make up the one bed we stayed in.

Cozy but spacious cabin! This was perfect for our family of 6. Our host was very responsive when needed. This home offered everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The outdoors was perfect for kids to run and play. We will definitely be back!

The cabin was beautiful and exactly how it is listed. The owners are very pleasant and check-in process is extremely simple. Please make sure you click on the cabin offerings (laundry, gate access, roads to take). within VRBO listing -- as owner has called out a few specific things for the stay. We enjoyed the downstairs game room and spa. Boys and I explored the creek and waterfall. Super fun to explore there. Make sure you write stuff down as the cell signal is poor and internet is a tad slow when opening apps on your phone. Quick note on driving: Elk Creek Road (though somewhat paved) is pretty squirly and slick in the mornings. 4WD if you have it. There is a lot of runoff so it is damp and freezes up. We hit it a few times in dense fog and it is tricky. There were a lot of cars going to Powder Horn Mtn Estates and would either ride you down the hill/go way too fast. Just go slower than you think as a few turns are 180 degrees. Overall, a very lovely spot and cabin. We will be back

Simply fantastic, the place is wonderful. In addition to the mountains and trees being beautiful, a wonderful stream runs through the property. The house is wonderful and the owners are polite and attentive. Clean, beautiful and organized. Score 10, congratulations!

Great communication from owner, cabin was well stocked. Had one issue beyond owners control and he did everything in his power to make it right, overall had a great getaway. Would not hesitate coming back.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed staying here! The host was excellent with communication throughout the stay. I love the mountains and my dogs do too! Was definitely an awesome time for me and my husband, my parents, our son and fur babies!

Initially, we had plans to explore towns in the area (Blowing Rock and Boone). However, once we arrived at River Rock, we never left. The home is cozy, clean, and has everything you need for a relaxing vacation. We loved having coffee in the morning, and lunch in the afternoon, on the large deck while listening to the creek. We enjoyed our evening hot tub. But the property was the highlight of our vacation. There is a lot to explore without having to drive anywhere. We loved the creeks and hiking to the waterfalls. We wanted to get away from everything and relax in seclusion. River Rock delivered.

We loved the stream, firepit, and hot tub! The cabin was exactly as described and we had no issues. It's very remote, but that's exactly what we were looking for.

My family and I enjoyed a lovely long weekend at River Rock. We had three teenagers and two dogs and there was plenty of room for all. The cabin is cozy and has everything you might need. Kitchen is fully stocked. We loved the stream and exploring the property with our dogs. They may have loved it the most since it is such a treat for them to run off leash. The hike to the waterfall was a treat too. We came up for the weekend for spring football at The Rock and it was an easy but twisty drive into Boone. Thanks for sharing your place with us John and Kim!

Rolled in, moved in, and enjoyed a week in this private little cabin! Elk Creek rolling by the house was the icing on the cake. Enjoyed a night or two (dodging thunderstorms) out by the fire pit, watching the stars and satellites. Enjoyed walking up to the waterfall. Had fun trying (Grrrr) to catch some of the trout in Elk Creek. Quick drive to Boone and Blowing Rock. Very fun and will be looking to book again soon!

We liked the location because it was close to horseback riding and not too far from Boone. We enjoyed the creek and the hiking trail. We lit the bonfire a couple of nights and the kids loved that. It was comfortable sleeping for everyone. Nice get away.

This was our first time visiting the mountains of NC and with it there were a lot of firsts. We walked across a swinging bridge on Grandfather mountain, we went fishing for the first at Grandfather trout farm ( no need for Fishing license there), first time endlessly enjoying a beautiful creek. This house is in a beautiful location and we throughly enjoyed our stay. The house is well stocked and very homey. The pathway to the water falls is not to be missed. You may need a walking stick for the slightly steeper portions of the walk. We really enjoyed the Wild Craft eatery restaurant in Boone and the Peddaling Pig restaurant. We would definitely come back. Thank you for a great vacation.

Our family very much enjoyed our stay! The cabin is adorable and the property is amazing!! We loved hanging out by the beautiful river and just relaxing. We drove around 30 minutes to go tubing one day and to ‘Trash Can Falls’ for the kids to jump off boulders into a swimming hole another day. Otherwise, just had fun hiking around the property and cooling off in the water. Will definitely be back!!

Great house, giant creek, fire pit by the creek and lots of amenities. Hot tub was awesome. So much to explore on the property. Nice waterfall. Extremely private. So many stars are visible at night! Our family and 2 dogs had an absolute blast! Would rent this place again in a heartbeat!

The hosts were right on time with all the information for getting in and out of the cabin no hiccups anywhere. It is an amazing property like a slice of heaven on Earth I seriously did not want to leave. The waterfall was amazing and we saw an owl on our way to and from the waterfall it was amazing
