Hotel Cavalier

Extremely good value staying here! Great area right near Knox Westfield. Spa bath and pool included for inexpensive nightly rate. While not a fancy hotel, it had basic luxuries on a budget. Staff also very friendly and helpful. Woukd definitely stay again. Highly recommend!!

Clean room but a bit dated. Offered a kitchenette which was merely a kettle, microwave and the option to ask for cutlery and crockery.

It’s an older hotel but very clean. The staff and service are fantastic. Pool is great. Close to a major shopping centre and public transport. Area is safe with plenty of dining options close by.

Property was well located within walking distance to Knox City shopping centre. Staff were friendly and helpful upon arrival. Room was comfortable and easily accessible and property had plenty of on site parking.

We stayed for 3 nights.I was very surprised how nice and clean.Freshly made comfy bed too. it was.Spacious and lovely.We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.It was too short though.Value plus for money.If I get the chance will be staying there again.I cant wait to maybe go in summer time ,pool looks amazing.Even had a BBQ.I cant complain about anyrhing.Deffinatly the place to stay.Not everything was perfect but the price waa amazing. Thanks Watif for helping me find such a gem.For those of you that complained in the past Go and pay a fortune and get perfectly perfect and stuck up....Staff were great too.Thank you for our stay

Booked a serviced apartment with kitchenette. There was no kitchenette. There was also no hairdryer, though it was advertised as having one.

This is the worse hotel I have ever stayed in my last 35 years of travel both for business and recreation. I had a shower around 5:30 pm to go out. I tried to open the shower door to exit and it would not slide open. I had a panic attack thinking how do I get out I finally had to lift the middle panel and tried to squeeze through noting there was only about a 30cm gap between the door and the toilet. I was so stressed I called reception and the young girl tried to fix it but it was still faulty she said someone would come between 8/9 am to try and fix it. No one came. I showered the next morning with the door open as I was so scared. I have attached photos. There were holes in door and rust around the very small fridge. They supplied no cutlery and I was going to have a swim in the morning noting the pool opened at 9. When I went o check out at 9:45 the pool still had a cover over it. I am so disappointed the Hotels.com have this on there site. I doubt I will use you again. Anyway word of mouth is a killer for hotels like this. I would have hoped for some compensation especially after I rang my dr as my stress levels were high according to my Apple Watch health rates. Susan Anderson

Very noisy people up and down the hallway all through the night. Didnt really feel safe. No pool to swim in. Carparks limited and in poor condition.

Very dirty! We booked for 2 adults and 2 children and they only had a room with one single bed. They were able to fix this but wasn’t very good considering that’s what we had booked. The pool was flithy, which was ashame as it was a hot day! We won’t be back!

There was black mould in the bathroom, so the room smelt like damp mouldy smell. The bed was great and sheets super fresh and clean. Nice sized room.

- Filled with long-term tennants who were wrecking the place and yelling obscenities at their kids at all hours - Pool was cloudy - Guest laundry machines constantly full from permanents, I had to travel to a laundromat instead - Smoke alarms expired and disconnected! Second bedroom had no smoke alarms at all. - Constant smell of smoke in the hallway - Hallway stairs not vacuumed. Was filled with spilled rice-bubbles.

Greatest challenge? Unaware that I would have to climb a set of stairs with my 2 x 23 kg suitcases to reach my room.

Room is old yet spacious

The location was great but room was a little disappointing as bathroom door was damaged and room door also damaged. Big spider in one of the curtains.

The air conditioner in room 14 keep on going hot. Perhaps maintenance can check this out. The bed in room 15 which we also had was not very comfortable - maybe needs replacing

The Hotel Cavalier is well located on transport routes and close to a large shopping complex at Knox. It was very well priced for my brief stay for a few meetings on the SE side of Melbourne. I arrived late due to a late flight and the reception was super helpful via messages and emails. They kindly placed my room key into a key-safe for me to self check in quite late. The room is spacious; the bed is comfortable, and the bathroom clean and user friendly. But for those looking for a bit of luxury, the facilities are ageing (eg curtains not hanging on the sliding rail properly, door chain was not functional at all, the door locks are old and felt “insecure”, and there was a bit of a musty smell in the room and corridors). Nevertheless, for a business traveller, I really appreciated the location, room size, comfy bed, etc because it is definitely not terrible but “very liveable”.

The staff were lovely but the whole place was very rundown. The bed was comfortable and room clean but it was so old. The carpet was crispy, old curtains and nothing modern and new at all. It was so rundown in the corridors,stairs and pool area. Parking was fairly good and good location. Would not stay again sorry.

My disappointment with the service I received during my late check-in last night around 10.30pm. The keypad was broken, and after spending 15 minutes on the phone with the night staff, who was unhelpful and seemed reluctant to assist, I finally managed to check in. However, when I went back to my car to retrieve something, the door locked behind me, and the keypad issue persisted. I called the night staff four times, but he ignored my calls, leaving me outside for 20 minutes. As a woman alone late at night, this was a particularly distressing situation. Thankfully, another guest passed by and let me in. This experience has made me feel unsafe and unvalued as a guest, and I believe this reflects very poorly on your establishment.

Easy access to shopping bus stop is at the front door great customer service. Thank you for a great stay.

Very terrible and unsafe. Have 1 guy to knock the door and show me dissolute picture. I call reception and they don’t solve the problem for me. They told me call police by myself I never come back this hotel again 😡

I actually liked this property a lot for the purpose I had. I was babysitting 2 grandchildren ages 5 and 7 as their parents had a house full of people. (I come from out of town). Check in was efficient and quick. We had a 2 bedroom unit. It wasn't new and glamerous but it was huge. It had a microwave and plates and cutlery. It had a table and 4 chairs and large couch in front of the TV. The bed linen and towels were obvoiusly all very new and spotless white. We'd brought our own breakfast provisions with us and we ordered in pizza. The room was warm despite a cold night. The proximity to Knox centre made it great to keep the children amused for the afternoon. We went to the movies and bought icecreams and played with other children. It all worked well for us.
