Fourwinds Lakeside Inn & Marina

The outdoor pool was advertised but unable during our stay. This was a genuine disappointment.

I chose this hotel primarily due to its stunning swimming pool. Upon arrival, however, a disheartening sign at the check-in desk announced the pool's closure for maintenance. I expressed our disappointment to the checki in staff. Throughout the remainder of our stay, I also raised the matter at the check-in counter, in the hopes of receiving some form of compensation for the inconvenience. Additionally, I took the initiative to reach out to the general manager, leaving a total of five messages, yet regrettably, my efforts yielded no results. It is profoundly disheartening, as it strongly suggests an apathetic attitude towards their clientele.

Great hotel for the price! The views and hiking are great! Staff is very friendly. Room is always clean and very nice hot water! We love to get away here for a quick overnight to hike and swim at a pool.

WORSTCUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE EVER pool was out of order and we were not informed till after we checked in. Management was not available and when they finally deigned to call back they were very rude. IInternet and phone service not working in the rooms very low water pressure and no hot water

Don’t believe the pictures on the booking page. This place could not have looked that good for years now. Thanks to recent storms , The grounds are a mess. The patio was inaccessible because a big (ugly) party tent covering it had collapsed. The hotel’s private beach was closed and its shabby palm umbrellas clearly hadn’t been replaced in ages. The lily pond was full of algae and trash. The larger water feature was drained and green and smelled ‘like a pig farm’ per the employee we overheard calling the office. Inside: Pool water was foggy and I didn't want to immerse myself in it! Gym was out of order. Bar food was greasy and so overpriced. Complimentary weekday breakfast was muffins, bagels, or choice of 3 cold cereals. Halls were dark and stuffy. Couldn’t take a bath because a gross adhesive mat had been stuck to the bottom: totally unhygienic. Only pros: bedding and mattresses were good. Young staff tried very hard to be friendly and helpful. Cocktails were good. We checked out after 1night and got refund. This place clearly needs more capital investment to get to an acceptable standard. Such a shame because the location is really nice. This place shouldn’t be allowed to use those old photos from a happier time; shouldn’t be listed here as far as I’m concerned.

It was a perfect spot to relax and great view of the lale and the marina. There was also a smal private beach and an outdoor game area. Some things could use updates like the pool/beach chairs are moldy and a few other grounds keeping type of stuff but overall nice stay.

The lake view and the grounds were beautiful. The hotel is dated but spacious and the indoor pool nice. Room would have been comfortable had it been clean, and the air conditioner working. When we realized the air was not working, we asked for a fan but they did not have one available. We tried to buy one at walmart but there were none in stock. Staff was pleasant at check in but didnt make any attempt to change rooms or to fix the air conditioner. We were going to open the window at night, (which we found unsecured and unlocked) but there was no screen to keep out bugs. The room had water bottles under the bed and bits of trash. The floors had not been vacuumed, or atleast not very well. The beds were comfy, sheets clean, and the pillows were fluffy, but we had a hard time sleeping due to the heat. The bathroom was clean. There were cobwebs behind the curtains and mold in the mini fridge. Overall, we would come back here becuase the grounds are so nice, but would want to inspect the room before accepting it. The play ground is really nice and there is alot of places to fish from shore if you dont have a boat. The beaches are nice and the boat ramps are all well maintained and clean. We were able to sit and watch birds and ducks & see trout jump. We got to see lots of deer at night as well. The lake was beautiful surrounded by touch of fall. Outdated is ok if its CLEAN and air-conditioning is working.

This hotel was probably great in its prime. However, It doesn’t appear to have been renovated since it opened. The pictures shown are not accurate. There’s no beach, it’s all under water. It wasn’t expensive though and the pool was VERY nice. But, the rooms hadn’t been dusted in a while and everything is old.

We were amazed and a bit surprised how much we enjoyed the stay. Exceeded expectations. Marina and pool were awesome. Grounds are very nice. Although the facility was built many years ago it has been nicely updated and maintains its original charm and character. Great getaway option for sure

Very run down. Some of the employees were rude. Were not even asked how our stay was when we left. Continental breakfast was toast, bagels, 3 kinds of cereal and apples. Room was SO dusty. Vent in bathroom had dust hanging from it. Lamps were nasty. Was never told have to ask for them to clean your room if staying more than one night and was hung up on when I was asking the front desk about it. Were abruptly kicked out of the pool on Monday and told they needed to shock it and wouldn’t be opened again until the health department came. Monday was the cleanest the pool was our whole stay so I have a hard time believing they really “needed” to shut it down at that time and it was more of a convenience. We were there to get some sun and don’t have a point so just another disappointment of our stay. When they add scrambled eggs, bacon, waffles, and biscuits and gravy(what you get for free at many other hotels) you pay $14.95/per person😂😂😂 Buckets catching drops of water in the lobby, halls, bar, restaurant. Again, could be a great place- great location and amenities available, but very poorly run and run down. Spend your money at a different lake resort.

The carpet was wet when you walked into the room for the first 4 - 5 feet and smelled of mold and mildew. They neither checked on it or offered to change our room. The inside of the lightweight curtains on the window had many gnats and the area in and around the property was filled with gnats. The food at the restaurant was very good though and their service was very good. We left congested because of the smell of mold in the room and left at 4 am due to not being able to sleep because of it. We reminded the front desk of the wet carpet issue when we left and they gave the response that they would pass it on.

Room was dirty and bugs. Bed sheets were dirty and requested clean the room and change bed set, but it did not happened. I would not visit here again !!!

Found a dirty diaper under bed

The whole hotel needs a good cleaning. Hitel and the grounds weren't really up kept with dirty windows and cigarette butts everywhere. Corners of our room and under beds hasn't been vacuumed in a while, and the soap holder in tub was dirty with some kind of soap residue. The water didn't run hot in the sink and WiFi wasn't working in my room. Pool area was cute and relaxing with the waterfall feature and having in site restaurant was great for grabbing beverage.

Beware staying in the off-season! This place is isolated (beautiful, but in a park) and there is nowhere to eat nearby - and the restaurant is only open on weekends in October, which is when I went. Also, the cleanliness was iffy - there were hairs in the sink and tub and inside a folded towel. There is absolutely zero internet.

The facility in itself was good. The staff was very friendly, especially Lynna at the registration desk and the gentleman that worked the breakfast area. The rooms seemed sound proof - couldn't hear any of the neighbors, which was nice. Now for the bad: We went up to the room after checking in and there was pee on the toilet seat, crumbs all over the floor, one of the beds was missing a top sheet AND there was a dirty diaper sticking half way out from under the bed. The room had not been cleaned even though they said it had been. Four people were sent up to "re-clean" the room. The cleaning staff seemed very young - college student age, which is fine as long as the job is done correctly. Didn't seem to be an quality checks on the rooms. To end on a good note, the location was fantastic! Very close to Bloomington but without the city hussle and bussle. It had a very nice beach as well.

Pool lighting free floating in pool attached by wire, debris all over the bottom likely from leaking roof. I told the person at the front desk and was waved off and told it wouldn't electrocute me. Neither TV in the fitness room had any channels. Bed was comfy, only redeeming quality to the aging relic of a hotel. Also no charging places for USB cords to plug directly into. It was dirty, crayon or eyeliner on the mirror in the bathroom, dirty floors, Unsure if it was even cleaned at all.

Clean room

Very dated hotel. Needs to be upgraded. Smelled musty. Room and hallway were very dark. Needs more lighting in room and hallway, fresh white paint would help, remove dark carpeting.

Rooms and amenities are a bit dated.

Place was decent but the hot water and water pressure in the shower was the worst I’ve experienced in a hotel.

Stay was good only issue was the hot water took almost ten minutes to get hot. The water pressure was also very low.

The view was pretty. Nice little private beach and a small indoor outdoor combined pool. The restaurant was okay with a bar. The rooms were pretty clean. The Wi fi did not work in the rooms nor did our cell phone service. We had to go outside to use either. Lots of places to eat in downtown Bloomington.

The property was beautiful! Our room had a balcony looking out over the lake. Our issue was that we did not have any hot water! There was no hot water on Saturday night. When we asked about the hot water we were told that you have to let it run for a while. We did and there was still no hot water. On Sunday morning we had no hot water we asked about it again and when no one seemed to be able to fix the problem we decided to check out. The staff were very nice and the view was stunning but i was not ok with not having a hshower.

While fourwinds itself was a nice place the restaurant left alot to be desired in the way of quality and price. The Wi-Fi was non-existent and there are absolutely no usable outlets in the rooms. Weekend breakfast was 1495 a person and consisted of items that are usually found for free at other hotels. While the bathroom said that it had a continuous vent it became almost intolerable in there while taking a shower. The bed was comfortable and the staff was very pleasant the grounds and hotel could have been better maintained and cleaner.

Friendly staff, happily accomodated our request for adjacent rooms. Beautiful balcony rooms over looking the water. Heated indoor pool was a plus, requiring no time to "get used to" the water temp. Very affordable rates for the quality of everything. Stay was enjoyed by everyone.

Friendly and helpful staff, great location.

Loved our trip to Four Winds. It was just a little staycation trip. Kids loved the pool and the hotel is beautiful.

The servers at the restaurant never came to get our order, we sat for about 20 mins, and they acted like th ey didn't see us, which was impossible, because they looked right at us as we walked in and several times after. We finally went up to the bar and ordered pur food. The bar tender was great, so he got a decent tip and a lot of thank you's. Housekeeping was very helpfull, and kind, and the room was clean..

When we got there, the place was overtaken by a college football team. We had to park in employee parking and hoof it back to the lobby. We were then told that check-in had been moved back to 10 pm to accomodate the team, then we were told that actually our reservation had been cancelled that morning and we should have gotten an email (we did not.) Absolutely do not recommend as they prioritize big bookings over everyone else.

The hotel property is amazing! And has extremely sweet staff members.

Don't go in February. We were aware the Marina was closed, but we're still looking forward to just have a lake view from our room. We were the only people at the entire resort, on Valentine's weekend, it was eerie... Also the room we booked was supposed to be lake front, but we were given a room that faced the empty parking lot. The guy at the desk wouldn't let us switch rooms, despite the place being empty. He wasn't helpful until we began looking for a refund, really don't think he even wanted us there. Glad we didn't die there.

The lake view from the hotel is pretty much a view of the huge marina. Locals say to give The Pointe Golf Club and The Rusty Anchor a chance, which are both close by.

I am handicapped and Sarah was able to get us into a handicapped room the day before we arrived. Located in a state park, it is beautiful. On a lake with beautiful scenery.

This hotel is located by Monroe lakeside. Peaceful & quiet. It’s good getaway. But for us, it’s far from IU.

Located right on the lake with fantastic views and plenty of paths to walk.

The site was on a lake so it was quiet & lovely scenery. The drive was longer than I expected and in a state park with a per day fee. The fee was reimbursed, so that was nice. I would recommend this hotel for a quiet stay.

We could hear other people’s voices clearly through the thin walls (normal voice volume). Carpet seems old and stained. When I booked through Expedia, I was told we would have a continental breakfast included, but at the hotel this morning, the only option is a $14.95 buffet breakfast. The hotel staff didn’t offer anything, only said that Expedia got it wrong. That would be an additional $30 for me and my daughter to have a bowl of cereal, a yogurt and a piece of fruit (our typical breakfast). The hotel is very remote from ANY other dining options. Bloomington is quite a drive from here and there seem to be no choices at all that would be closer. The hotel overlooks the lake which is nice but the view is really marred by countless marinas. Will not stay here again.

This property is in a great location, on a lake. Unfortunately, I visited this facility during the winter. The lake was beautiful but no activity. I will be visiting this facility in the summer and take advantage of the facility.

The start was really good and service extremely friendly and helpful. The pool is great, like a lagoon spa. The breakfast was terrible, only bagels and cereal. Great of the beaten path hotel good value.

Property is dated but nice. The breakfast was a huge negative. No hot food offerings not many drink offerings.

The property was run down and there only seemed to be two valet carts. One the one we used did not steer well. Luckily our room wasn’t very far from exit, because there was no cart to use when we checked out. When I booked the room, one of the perks was the “continental breakfast.” What they did not tell you was it was only colds foods. Cereal, toast, bagels, yogurt. Some times muffins. One day there was no bagels, no muffins, and the bread available to eat was moldy. The next two days were better after I complained about the moldy bread. On Saturday I was very excited because I smelled something wonderful. Finally warm food. Oh but that wasn’t complimentary it was 14.99. Even though they were out of many items on their menu, thething that saved the stay was the bartender in the lounge. His name was David. very nice, very friendly and went above and beyond. suggested things for us to do and see while we were in town. We unwound every evening with him. Thank you David. It’s a nice place to stay if you want quiet.

I thought the room was clean and beds comfortable. The front desk didn’t activate our room keys and in Room 329 long walk back. The restaurant was expensive and not worth it. The Bang, Bang shrimp was 13.99 for 8 little shrimp on a bed of lettuce. Someone else’s wings not done. The pretzel appetizer and pizza good. Service was slow.

I loved the property! It was beautiful and the staff were amazing. Only complaint I have is the restaurant. Insanely over priced and I definitely got food poisoning and so did my husband. But otherwise it was a great stay bwe are just avoiding the restaurant when we come back.

Loved the proximity to the lake, the boat ramp. The restaurant on site was good, food and service was good. Reasonably priced for a resort restaurant. I thought the breakfast offering was very limited, lots of room for improvement. Overall good stay. Would stay again.

Love the property inside and out! Restaurant was out of various items. The quality and amount of food doesn’t match the price. Breakfast! Horrible! I suggest the restaurant be open on mornings there is no hot breakfast available. Run it with a skeleton crew for the basic breakfast hot foods that can be ordered that morning. The resort is in the middle of no where so going out to breakfast just is very inconvenient and too far to drive.
