Very nice property and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was filling and tasty. It was a short walk to a nearby pub. There was parking in the back of the property as well. Definitely recommend!

The hotel is situated a short walk from the centre off the main road. The staff were pleasant and approachable. The room was comfy and the breakfast was lovely. My only criticisms are there was no lift so carrying heavy cases up a steep flight of stairs wasn’t ideal and the bar is just a small fridge containing canned beer, cider and mixers with a limited choice of spirits and wine however there is a pub only 2 minutes walk away. Overall a nice spot to stay for an overnight stop

We have stayed at the penny farthing on several occasions, the staff are friendly, rooms are modern and clean. Breakfast are lovely. Dog friendly, dogs even get a sausage for breakfast, and a treat on arrival. All in all worth staying. We will return.

Friendly helpful staff. I travelled with my dog and she was made very welcome - even getting her own sausage at breakfast. Great shower in the room. Would stay again when passing through. The only downside was the uncomfortable pillows.

The hotel was good. Nice and convenient to shops at Lyndhurst. Quaint with the focus on all forms of cycling. Room was excellent -- only downside is the narrow, steep stairway to the first floor and the associated challenge with getting bags up and down,

Short stay. Good location. Clean and recent refurb. Restaurant spotless and a good breakfast. Dog friendly at £20 per night extra. Good free parking. On the downside, the walls are thin and we had some annoyingly noisy neighbours 😟

Hôtel très bien situé pour visiter la New Forest avec un parking à disposition des clients ce qui est très précieux. La chambre triple sous les toit était spacieuse, cosy, confortable et propre. Les fenêtres de toit sont super pour gérer la température en été. 2 étages avec escaliers étroit sans ascenseur mais ça fait partie du charme. Par contre le gros bémol est le personnel pas du tout accueillant. Au check in, le strict minimum en terme d'accueil, au petit déjeuner pas un sourire et au ckeck out il n'y avait personne à la réception et on nous a dit de simplement laisser les clefs. Petit déjeuner exclusivement anglais avec un menu unique, le reste du buffet est quelconque. The hotel was situated within a lovely town just a few miles outside of Southampton. There was plenty of parking to the rear of the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helped me out on a couple of things. The room itself seemed to be in converted loft space with the sloped walls making me feel like Gandalf in a hobbit's house and yes I did bang my head a couple of times as a result. There was a fusty smell from the bathroom which disappeared after leaving the door open. During a particularly warm day, there was a fan in the room but the cooler option was to open the Velux style windows which provided a much-needed cross breeze. The shower was a little pathetic to be honest. There was a cornucopia of dining options available within a mile of the hotel and I ate at the Crown Stirrup which was very enjoyable. Breakfast was largely forgettable. The décor was quite tired around the hotel and especially in the bathroom so I didn't feel there was a lot of value to the stay.

A very comfortable stay. We arrived late and had a friendly check in. The hotel was very clean and our room was comfortable with everything we needed. A good breakfast the next morning too. Will absolutely stay again.

Mattress had to be changed on one bed . Springs sticking through. Bins not emptied in room on 2nd day. Room very small Sausages and bacon at breakfast very over cooked on 1st and 2nd day. Staff friendly. Convenient for local amenities

For a reasonably priced hotel in the New Forest during high summer season, it was excellent, and extremely clean. My shower was small, a bit temperamental with hot/cold water, but staff looking into it. Excellent breakfast, parking available and right beside Lyndhurst High Street, fantastic location. Staff friendly and helpful. Recommend!

The location was good for my visit to Lyndhurst. Room was small (nothing like the one in the picture) and overlooked a very busy main road. Ask for a room facing the carpark as the traffic noise went on untillate and started again very early. Breakfast was very good

The room was a nice size single, temperature was comfortable (they also provided me with a fan), bathroom was a good size and clean, shower was powerful, windows that opened, tv which had Netflix etc, little bit noisy from the road but that couldn’t be helped with the location, staff were lovely, check in was easy, plenty of parking, great location to walk into Lyndhurst. The only thing that let it down for me was the entrance to the room (which is at the top of the stairs) isn’t very well insulated and I could hear every conversation and door slam of people walking past and unfortunately when I stayed I was woken up at around 5, so I suggest earplugs if you are a light sleeper, but other than that overall a good stay. Nice breakfast too.

Easy to access, room was lovely and clean although it was at the front of the hotel and the double glazing didn't seem to work at all as we could hear every car go past. Breakfast was fresh and hot and the staff were very attentive.

We had a very small and basic room at the front of the hotel overlooking the main road and the road noise was horrendous.Due to the Agricultural show down the road it was busier than normal and we were awoken very early by the noise.Unfortunately as it was the hottest day of the year we had to have all the windows open just so we could breathe. The TV didn’t work and the Wi-fi was useless(the Management admitted that it was very hit and miss) - well why not do something about it!! The toilet roll holder was broken and the towel hook on the back of the door was just hanging on by one screw. This is definitely one hotel we will never use again and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Great value accommodation. Very clean. Staff very friendly. Only slight downside was that the noise seemed to travel through from other rooms a little bit. Otherwise excellent and would definitely recommend

A very comfortable stay. We arrived late and had a friendly check in. The hotel was very clean and our room was comfortable with everything we needed. A good breakfast the next morning too. Will absolutely stay again.

Hôtel très bien situé pour visiter la New Forest avec un parking à disposition des clients ce qui est très précieux. La chambre triple sous les toit était spacieuse, cosy, confortable et propre. Les fenêtres de toit sont super pour gérer la température en été. 2 étages avec escaliers étroit sans ascenseur mais ça fait partie du charme. Par contre le gros bémol est le personnel pas du tout accueillant. Au check in, le strict minimum en terme d'accueil, au petit déjeuner pas un sourire et au ckeck out il n'y avait personne à la réception et on nous a dit de simplement laisser les clefs. Petit déjeuner exclusivement anglais avec un menu unique, le reste du buffet est quelconque. Dommage qu'ils ne servent pas du café à la machine qui est juste derrière eux mais seulement du café filtre. Cela reste un bon plan pour visiter la zone

For a reasonably priced hotel in the New Forest during high summer season, it was excellent, and extremely clean. My shower was small, a bit temperamental with hot/cold water, but staff looking into it. Excellent breakfast, parking available and right beside Lyndhurst High Street, fantastic location. Staff friendly and helpful. Recommend!

Great location in easy walking distance to the main street shopping and restaurants. Our room was spacious and clean. We were on road side so did have the traffic noise, which is no fault of the hotel, our friend had a back facing room which was quiet, so suggest if you don't like traffic noise ask for a quieter room - we were happy with our room. Breakfast was excellent

The Penny Farthing Hotel is in easy walking distance to the High Street, our room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was excellent. We were street side and did have traffic noise but that was not an issue for us, or can the hotel stop the traffic all night!! We would definitely stay here again.

Hotel was perfectly situated for days out in the New Forest, 20 min drive to the sea, (Highcliff) and Beauieu Motor Museum, large room and Breakfast excellent. The village of Lyndhurst had excellent amenities and would recommend Dolce Vita for dinner, lovely true Italian restaurant , food excellent and price good value. The chippy was good too - will come back to the hotel and Lyndhurst we had a lovely break.

The hotel was good. Nice and convenient to shops at Lyndhurst. Quaint with the focus on all forms of cycling. Room was excellent -- only downside is the narrow, steep stairway to the first floor and the associated challenge with getting bags up and down,

This was a great value Hotel and we will have no hesitation in booking again. Nothing elaborate and in a fairly old building, this hotel offered everything you will need. The stairs to our room at the top were steep but the bed was comfortable, the shower hot and the towels large and fluffy. Tea and coffee with a kettle were in the room. The breakfast included was really lovely. Full English with extras included. The town was in walking distance with pubs, shops, restaurants and an excellent Fish and Chip take away or eat in which we thoroughly enjoyed. The New Forest was on the doorstep. A great position for access to all we wanted. We will definitely be booking again when we next visit the area.

Really lovely, warm welcome from the man on reception! The apartment was basic but just what we needed, and bought back some very nostalgic feelings from UK holidays I'd had as a child! Only slight critique would be that the bathroom, especially round the bath and tiles, needs some love as it looks very tired and a little damaged. Great location in a beautiful area, with shops, restaurants within a couple of minutes walk. Delicious Indian Restaurant just a few minutes away! We used it as a base for a 2-day trip to Paultons Park, and it was perfect, literally just over a 10 minute drive! All the family slept really well, and we will definitely be back in the future! Thank you for a lovely stay!

lovely stay in this dog friendly hotel. Room was clean and comfortable, although the bathroom with shower in bath arrangements slightly dated. Breakfast was more than adequate and included a sausage for the dog. Staff were all very helpful and sourced extra fans on request for the hottest days in June.

Staff really helpful, rooms were clean,breakfast was very nice, the outside of the hotel needs updating but don’t go by that when booking, it’s in a good spot convenient for the town, no lifts
