Americas Best Value Inn & Suites St. Louis, St. Charles Inn

Despite being charged full price, the whole place appeared to be under construction. The pool was down in theory being worked on, but despite being there 2 business days there were no workers to be seen. None of the ice machines were hooked up, there were no vending machines, and the continental breakfast was barely stocked at 7:30 am unless you wanted a waffle. There are building materials everywhere, yet no work being done. As I looked down at the A-frame protecting the entrance, 2 different kinds of roofing and holes in the roof itself. It's just a mess. The staff was barely cordial and I wasn't welcomed or thanked for staying. The internet worked and that was the high side of the whole experience. Hopefully the renovations will improve the property but the staff isn't very friendly, the facility as it is now is a mess and very tired. They should have indicated the place was under construction and discounts should have been given since almost all the amenities were not available. I was there 4 nights and there wasn't even a sign to hang saying I didn't need the room serviced. Which wasn't a problem, because they didn't bother to clean/tidy/towel swap the room in 4 days. The people running this place are out of their depth. This is not a good property for Hotels.com to have in it's portal. If you want a cheap bed, this is probably OK. However, it depends on your definition of 'cheap'.

No notification of construction. First floor smells like pee. Entire building smells like chemicals. Pool unavailable. Staff is inefficient and refused to get the manager to cancel/refund.

Pool wasn't working, warm and musty smell and in hallways. But the room was decent.

Filthy. Undergoing remodeling, yes, but there were no amenities other than a morning breakfast that was carbs, milk, and coffee. Juice machine did not work. Cereal, a few small muffins, and a waffle maker was the only options. One door to enter, one door to exit. Ants in room. Requested handicap accessible room, and stated my service dog would be with us. Desk attendant said none of these requests were on her screen and we did not get handicap room. No fire detector in room. No curtains, brown paper taped to windows. Floor dirty, mirrors showing dust. Rusted drain covers and toilet paper holder, shoddy caulking and painted over mistakes in bathroom. Shower curtain barely held up. Water leaking constant stream in bathtub and sink. Flooring broken and coming off in room. Beds not taken out before placing new floor, they just cut around the base of the bed and left that old carpet in place and laid new flooring around it. Taped to hold wood slat under door. Worst hotel. There were transient persons in the back parking lot of the building. No security. Not even maid service. I do not recommend this place. I took pictures for proof.

Pretty much entire hotel is under construction and it wasnt not mentioned on site. Pool in not open. Workers banging all day long.
