Low budget. Bad smell in entry to building and lift! Tv didn’t work unable to be fixed moved to new room. NOTE ON checkout to leave bags you are charged $5. I was not happy with this! Was told it’s in the policy!

Great room in great location with welcoming and accommodating staff. Glad for the distributing machine, in a pinch, it can replace a meal.

Very good value for money, remarkably quiet whilst located on a busy street, 24 hour reception, large flat screen television, breakfast included, what else could one wish for.

Is budget, but good value for money. Was disappointed that laundry trolleys and lots of them ,were stored in the corridor outside my room all day and night. Just seemed it was easier for them to leave them there rather than take to a back of house location. Made the corridor tight when passing with luggage.

The room was small but clean. What we didn’t like was that we had to pay for late checkout and for leaving the luggage at reception.

It is a really budget motel. These is no desk in the room. I cannot write my papers. If you need to keep your luggage there, you have to pay A$5. If you need a hair dryer, you need to pay as well. Worst of all, the service staff in particular in the front desk works very slow and a lack of efficiency and very indifferent to your requests. My room heater was out of order. I reported to one of staffs and a cleaning lady also kindly helped me call the front desk. Still no response at all. As a result, I stayed there for two nights without heater in such a cold weather in Melbourne. God bless me. I survive. The only positive thing I can mention is free breakfast, even though still very budget. I enjoyed expresso coffee every monring.

Great budget and centrally located hotel. Convenient for travellers as it is surrounded by restaurants and shops. The receptionist asked us for a deposit which was unexpected and not sure why it was needed. However, this was refunded on checkout.

Great location. Within easy walking distance to pretty much anything you'd like to see although also located within the free tram zone for public transport. Very quiet when inside the hotel despite being located so centrally. Affordable price with access to TV, kettle etc in room. Door to hotel is locked and requires keycard from 9pm for safety. Lots of food options nearby, including only next door! Only negative I can think of is that shower and toilet could have been a little bit cleaner

The Ibis was a convenient stay if you need to be in the CBD or need transport connections to surrounding suburbs. Most staff were very pleasant and helpful- especially the lady at reception upon my checking out. They have a fantastic vending machine with snacks if you’re peckish- and looking for something to eat which is convenient. However the breakfast in the morning was quite simply inadequate and very poorly conducted. I arrived more than an hour before it was due to finish to find disarray and mess everywhere. No cutlery or napkins available- I had to ask a staff member for them. The food available was insufficient and quite poor in quality. Toast (no juice) a pancake machine which had to be refilled with batter because it had run out- and we were standing there wondering why it wasn’t working- yet there was nobody to assist. If you are going to specify a breakfast time- please make sure it runs entirely through that time- and that adequate food is available. If I had gotten there fifteen minutes before finishing- I’d understand- but I was there from 830am an hour to go- and still- it was messy, unhygienic and under resourced. If you go as far as providing muesli- some yogurt and fruit would have also been appreciated, but there was none. I was considering going into the city to pay $25 for a breakfast I could actually eat. The room was adequate for an overnight stay- but the bed light wasn’t working- and neither was the TV remote. Not the best stay here.

Room was adequate. Thrre was some damage to the hallways and inside the room. I took pictures so the hotel doesn't try to blame me for it. Breakfast was interesting to say the least. No phone in the room to call the front desk or outside. Bed was small for my size. The laundry was adequate. No change available in the laundry room or the front desk.

No .bathroom had no hairdryer or power points to use where there was a mirror no other mirror in the whole room and bathroom was not clean shower curtain had mild on it and shower walls and floor needs a good scrub

Accidentally took the lift to the basement, dead cockroaches everywhere. Very noisy due to some drunk couple arguing in the corridor at 2am, no one to call to get it sorted. Shower is actually in the bedroom just behind a curtain. Reading lights didnt work, sink cracked, toilet flush was faulty.

The fact we paid 280 for a 89 dollar room and the bed pillows under the covers were filthy stained it was discussing

Only one pillow on each bed, normally there is two bed so I did have to ask for an extra one but that was okay just a bit surprised. The bed lights attached to the bed were broken and did not work. The little window in the room that’s a lot of light in so this was quite frustrating. And lastly the small countertop was dirty when I first arrived into the room. (Sticky marks from juice?) The whole building could do with a refurb, it’s kind of dirty and the flooring is quite stained. Overall a little bit pricey for what you get.

Enjoyed my stay. Very clean, quiet and safe. So close to anything you could want to access in the city. Highly recommend.

Our first night we were woken up at 3am by a garbage truck operating for almost an hour beside the hotel. We informed the staff we wanted to be moved away from the alley way, but they ensured us the garbage truck only operates on Thursdays. This was a lie, it woke us up every single night at 3am. We informed staff that our shower only had two pieces to its 3 piece sliding door, they said the entire hotel was being renovated. So our floor was soaking wet the entire stay. Pretty horrible all around, do not stay here if you want a good night sleep.

The hotel is centrally located. The room is small and bathroom is semi open so privacy not ideal. While the room seemed clean there was an unpleasant odour in the room.

I stay in Ibis properties when I just need a room. I don't expect much, but this one didn't quite reach the low bar they have set. The staff were lovely. The location is perfect for a city stay. But the first room I stayed in had non-functional bed lamps and the shower just in the bedroom. Most other Ibis places have a little shower capsule, but the fan blowing all night with no way of turning it off was off putting. The shower door was non-working. I sent a message. The staff were pleasant. Moved me to a new room. This one, the bed lamps didn't work, the shower door still didn't work, the bathroom fan still went all the time and there was an air vent outside my window that doubled the noise output. With a basic noise output of 60db it's not conducive for sleep. Done staying at the Ibis. You get what you pay for.

Didn't have breakfast. Small room but comfortable bed, floors creak. Smart TV so Netflix etc. Right near Flinders St station. Thought it would be noisy but super quiet. Overall very happy :)

Good location, decor/carpets a bit shabby in places but not enough to put most people off i would suggest. Wifi didn't work at all for me for my 4 day stay, witnessed many other guests with same complaint.

The staff were very helpful & pleasant, however the photographs on Expedia did not portray the room properly. The room was very small, there was little space to open a case, and there was no proper bathroom. There was actually a shower cubicle built into the bedroom rather than into a bathroom. There was a wash basin, but again it was in the bedroom. Agreed it was advertised as a budget hotel, but this was not what we expected or what was portrayed in the advertisement. We expected better from Ibis.

Bed head lights did not work. No hooks to hang towels. Curtains hanging off their hooks. No second pillow.

Great location and very affordable compared to others in the area. Just needs a bit of a tidy up - we had broken bedlights and a broken shower door. Really helpful staff.

The lights over the bed were broken, toilet was so noisy as the water tank has some problem. We did not use the shower because of looking unclean. But its budget hotel and position is great - so close everything of CBD.

Room condition ok for the price, needs a refresh, but the location is excellent. Staff were friendly. Aircon didn't work, and TV only had free to air no netflix or Youtube. No ability to cast to tv either.

My room wasn't clean, and it got booked out a second time after I checked in. A random stranger let themselves into my room while I was in bed! Staff were apologetic but offered no compensation. The next night my access card didn't work and had to be reset, and when I explained to the next staff member it might be to do with the previous nights double booking she just laughed. Location was great, and shower pressure excellent, but I didn't feel safe there and wouldn't go back.

The lady on the desk was lovely she upgraded our room and gave us a late checkout as it was my husband’s birthday and when we got back later that night there were chocolates, balloons and a nice little Happy Birthday note. Great service!

Ridiculous customer service. I booked 4 rooms and was forced to pay $100 deposit on each room on a seperate transaction each - just crazy!!! Good central location. Rooms were very average. Nead a good refurbish. Wouldn't recommended unless for overnight and nothing else available

It’s called the ibis Budget Melbourne CBD, so never expected 5-stars but they truly embrace the idea of budget. Breakfast was incredibly basic with limited hours, service was always polite and friendly but just disinterested enough to leave you feeling meh, stained curtains, comforter, no real amenities… Location was AMAZING and it’s not that I wouldn’t recommend it, but a little effort goes a long way.

We were greeted terribly. I arrived with my 2 children at 8pm to check in and finally got accommodated with a room at 10pm. It wasn't a great start to our little break after driving 9hrs from Adelaide. My kids were restless and agitated by the end.

Staff were lovely, friendly and accommodating especially Sean and Anup. The hotel has good facilities and is very convenient for visiting Melbourne city.

Definitely my favorite IBIS so far, the moment i walked in i was met by a beautiful woman (im so sorry i cannot remember her name but was the clerk on the 01/04 and 03/04) and she was so lovely and UPGRADED me because it was my birthday soon! Clean facilities, very quiet room and was perfect for my early birthday holiday away Its central to everything and so affordable, definitely coming back! Thanks Ibis Team!

My room would have to have been the darkest in the building. Even after opening the curtains the frosted glass still meant the light was terrible. None of the bedside lamps worked, there two half drink bottles of water left in the room and the toilet flushing button was broken. The people who checked me were so casual and nonchalant I didn’t even think they worked there at first. The day time staff were much more professional though it is worth noting.

Cheap and cheerful as the old saying goes. Hotel was rather basic but excellent central location. Corner Elizabeth and Collins St with trams and trains practically at the door. Loads of supermarkets and places to eat too.

While the hotel is in a very central location, as a single traveller, I would be very very wary coming back to the hotel late at night on my own. There are a lot of homeless/ troubled people on Elizabeth St at night and it's not a safe area. The property itself, is very dated. Room was clean which was great but there was a musty smell in the room and the curtain was hanging off the railing. Very much get what you pay for.

This hotel has a great location for visiting Melbourne. It was easy for using transit or walking. The hotel was a time saver, if you are visiting and have only a few days to visit. This is the place to stay and have a limited budget,

Very convenient and central to the city. Close to rail services and dining options. Beds comfy. Shower nice and hot with good pressure. Quiet for a city room. Street lighting visible through solid curtains but not a problem for us.

Centrally located, walking distance to Flinders train station, staff helpful

I liked that it was secure because at 10pm returning to the hotel there were a lot of homeless and not so good people hanging around the area

The sraff were geeat. Spotless room however the bathroom exhaust fan was way too loud causing me to not sleep at all. The breakfast was great

In Melbourne for comedy festival. Overnight stay. Hotel close to public transport. Free wifi good. Breakfast available but spartan. Room was budget class, small but clean with comfortable bed. Basic amenities supplied. It suited our one night stay. Staff friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.

The price for the property is fair to the conditions. The location is good. Very central and close to everything. The rooms are quiet and bed comfortable. Breakfast is very basic. Would not recommend including in the booking and just head out for breakfast, as there's plenty of options within walking distance.

Everything was as expected for my stay. Nice big room which was clean, the shower was okay. Breakfast was basic but adequate.

Room is big enough for both of us. Bed is comfy. Breakfast is ok, don't expect much. They serve apple and orange juice not in the ice bucket.

The breakfast is appalling for $12: Across the corner, you'll get a really good coffee and snack for that price. Ibis offering is a cheapest plain bread loaf with butter and jam, or cheap cereals and milk. The coffee machine takes over 20minutes to prime, but if you don't get to grab one before heading out, you're not missing out, out of 4 people having a coffee that day, 3 of us poured it in the sink as it was honestly undrinkable. For $12, I somewhat expected scrambled eggs or Scones and okish coffee... My review would have been a 3 stars out of 5 if Ibis accepted to refund the breakfast I did not have due to the really poor quality of it, instead they referred me to Expedia Customer Service for the refund and denied having me asking for a refund and complaining about the breakfast in the first instance. Here's a one-star review for the lack honesty.
