Hot tub was why we chose to come here and use limited income to stay. We canceled a trip to maquoketa iowa…..came to this hotel… i called and asked about hot tub in advance and was assured it was functional. Got checked in and no hot tub was functional. Was not what was expected and i used hotel .com points. Soo pretty bumed ….. any way points could get refunded since hot tub was not available even after my inquiry to hotel prior stated it was? That would go a long way to making things ok. I felt everything else was fine. Thanks in advance for your attention to this matter. Have a nice day Robbie

Great location and breakfast was really good. Only issue was cleanliness of the bathroom floor (hair quite literally all over and piled in the corner as if it had been mopped up and dried there, very dusty also). I never complain about this kind of thing but it was so bad I actually cleaned it with toilet paper when I got there. I brought it to their attention when I checked out and was dismissed which is really the only reason I would write a review of it now. Rest of the room seemed clean and common areas were well maintained.

My only real negative experience was with the front desk staff. The young men working were rarely available or seen. When I did approach one of them that our flat screen TV screen was very dirty (and did not get cleaned the first day) he said he would tell housekeeping to take care of it the next day (since it was the evening). I explained to him that I would be more than happy to take care of it myself, I just needed instructions on how he wanted that handled. He told me not to do it that housekeeping would take care of it. I told him that we would be in the room that evening viewing the TV and would like a clean screen to view, he told me that there was nothing to be done until the next day. And then he just looked at me. I was simply amazed, walked away, and using one of my own screen cleaning cloths I took care of it myself. I did not need someone to do it for me, I just wanted instructions on how the hotel wanted it done, wanting to take care of the equipment. Surprised by his cluelessness.

The receptionists were wonderful. Because we were not sure if we could check in on time, I called and explained our time issues over the phone with the first receptionist. She was very understanding of our situation and assured me that all would be well by doing the checking that way. When we arrived later that night, everything was indeed ready for us. The second receptionist knew exactly who we were and received us as if we were old friends already. The next morning, our family enjoyed a great breakfast with a menu our grandchildren loved. The 2 reserved bedrooms were perfectly clean, comfortable, and spacious. We will definitely come back whenever we come to visit Nauvoo, in Illinois, with its pageants. The proximity of the hotel at Fort Madison makes it very convenient.
