Quality Inn Chesterton near Indiana Dunes National Park I-94

The room was not ready for check in AT check in time. It was clean. Your choice for breakfast is a waffle, muffin or cereal. There is no outdoor seating. Basic.

Clean, spacious room, pleasant staff. Plenty of parking, shops nearby, close to Indiana Dunes National Park. An old building but well kept.

Hotel was in need of updating. 2 story and no elevator. Not a problem for us but might be for others. Staff was extremely nice and helpful. Breakfast was better than expected.

Lovely front desk person. Loud refrigerator, louder fan, both all night long; broken toilet; badly stained carpet; television nearly too dark to match with no way to adjust brightness. Oh - and no elevator!

We stayed at this hotel for three (3) nights. There was plenty of on-site parking, and this hotel was largely empty and quiet on some weekdays during the middle of September. Our room was clean and comfortable, albeit our room was older, and we had no issues with the air-conditioning unit, the television, the wifi, nor the hot water. This room had no couch, but it had: a desk, a chair, a microwave, and a refrigerator. There was no daily room service offered, but if we needed any extra supplies, we were given them by the staff members. Most of the staff members were amicable. Each morning, I used this gym's treadmill and weight machine. This hotel's breakfast was decent, and it contained: coffees, juices, teas, water, toasts, bagels, muffins, bananas, apples, waffles, yogurts, pre-made burritos, and cereals. Indiana Dunes National Park's West Beach was about twenty (20) minutes away, and Chicago was about sixty (60) minutes away. This hotel had many nearby restaurants, and Interstate-94 was a close drive from this hotel.

The room was all right but maybe a bit more attention to the cleanliness would be good and the bathroom is a bit outdated. The breakfast ends to early and there is not much to choose from. And there is no elevator…

Fitness Center: wipes all dry, machines dont work right, lights go off after 15 minutes without movement out in front of machines, and the water dispenser is empty or doesnt work.

Good price during the week, felt very safe. Location was very convenient, free parking, basic breakfast. Newer fridge and micro in the room. No pool.

We stayed one night while taking a road trip. It was very close to Indiana Dunes National Park. The hotel was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. They offer a "grab and go" breakfast that does include make your own waffles and they had microwaveable burritos as a hot food option. The room was spacious and well laid out with fridge and microwave. The room needed a little maintenance - bathroom door would not close all the way, the shower curtain didn't close properly which made the floor get wet and there was no outlet cover for the air conditioner which seemed a little unsafe. The outlet was under the air conditioner by the floor but if you had a young one who crawled on the floor it could have been a problem. There is no elevator so if you can't do stairs request a room on the first floor.

Was a super late check in but was greeted very politely and quickly. Staff was very friendly. However our bedroom floor was sticky and shower/bathroom floor had a puddle of water between toilet and shower and there was a used washcloth hanging on the shower curtain. That was disgusting, but at 230am, we just dealt with it.

Room was dirty with a clogged sink. Breakfast was less than desired. Coffee was put out cold as ice until someone complained. Towels that were placed in room had a smell of curry. Called to try and get in 1 hour before check in and they could not accommodate because rooms were not cleaned yet, only to check in and have our rooms dusty, stains on floor and bathtub with sand in it.

Five stars for the great staff! I wish there handnt been mold in the tub grout. One minor annoyance that I didn’t bring up since I was there for a short time is that when the fan isn’t set to continuous, it squeals when it shuts off and sounds like someone coming in a door. Just FYI—I think the water temp is way too hot. Someone could get burned!

The check in staff was friendly and gave us a choice of floors since there wasn’t an elevator. However, the bathroom is in need of repair. The toilet was not secured to the floor it rocks when being used. The tub/shower needs caulking. Housekeeping knocked on our door prior to check out even though we only stayed one night. They should know who’s already checked out or not.

Beds were very comfortable & it was fine for the one night we needed. Room was mostly clean looking. Bathroom was dirty behind the door however, & the room had a musty smell when we walked in.

Dirty! I saw a fly in the bathroom and hair! Very disappointing! The sink and shower clogged too! I don’t think they change bedsheet regularly! It smells like something that you put to dry but didn’t finish the cycle! If only I have a choice I would transfer but i booked it last minute and it was too late for me to transfer! Their gym is so small and you can only do nothing but cardio! Not recommend at all! The only thing I like is their staff! They are friendly and very accommodating! Just wish they put cleanliness first!

It was an affordable, older motel near the Indiana Dunes State Park. The rooms were clean. It was quiet. The beds were comfortable.

Beds were very comfortable & it was fine for the one night we needed. Room was mostly clean looking. Bathroom was dirty behind the door however, & the room had a musty smell when we walked in.

The room was quiet. It is far enough from highways not to hear traffic noise.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, but we could hear conversations in the adjacent room because the walls are thin.

The staff was great and really the place itself was fine - it’s exactly what you’d expect in this price range. Location - in terms of being close to the Dunes/beach is what sold it for us. The one downside - everything was damp in our room. Clothes were damp and even books and papers we had with us were literally visibly affected. Not sure why/how, but that wasn’t the best.

They were out of all fruit and had literally 4 fruit loops left in the dispenser; left no options for my toddler. Bed was comfy if I could have slept pass 5am.

Our room was dark, dreary, but clean. The bathroom was soooo tiny. The breakfast room was clean at all times. Everything seemed to be patched together…..table tops loose, etc.

We reserve two rooms and when we arrived, the lady on staff had a lot of difficulty getting our rooms, clicked in the system her computer and she called the manager, and the manager was not willing to come in and help. The lady at the desk was really wanting to help us And was doing her best, but she admitted she did not have the training she needed to get us the rooms we had paid for she didn’t know what to do and we didn’t know what to do.

No one was at the desk to check in. Bell to ring for someone was broke. A back door near my room was broke so people kept propping it open felt very unsecure.

Helpful staff … safe vibe

I spent one night here in February 2024. It was a perfect spot for a one night stop mid road trip. The woman who checked me in when I arrived was very friendly. I went downstairs for breakfast 10 minutes before it ended only expecting to get a banana and a cup of coffee, but the woman running the breakfast was so accommodating and friendly. She insisted on heating up a breakfast burrito and making a fresh pot of coffee for me! I was there on a Friday night and was a little nervous when there were only 2 other cars in the parking lot when I arrived, but the hotel felt very safe as a woman traveling alone!

Judith at the front desk was very helpful in giving us advice on where to go and what to see. We had a nice conversation and a great day!

I must admit that when I first arrived at the hotel, I felt very homely by the warmth of the receptionist. But the experience after I checked out made me very angry. The afternoon I checked out, I received a credit card reminder that I had an extra charge from Quality Inn Chesterton. When I called the hotel to inquire about the situation, the person who answered the phone said that after inquiring, I found that the HDMI cable on the TV in my room was missing.I said I didn't know about the situation because I hadn't watched TV at all. This lady actually asked me, haven't you watched TV for two days? She said the matter would need to wait for the manager to resolve. When I called the hotel again the next day, the other lady who answered the phone sounded like a manager. After I redescribed the matter, she said she needed to go and ask the cleaning worker the next morning. And promised to call me back the next day after the investigation was completed. The next afternoon I received a verbal message promising to return me the fund. The original words are “Hi, this is I'm calling from the Quality Inn in Chesterton about the $xx charge on your credit card for the missing HDMI cable and we will return the payment. I'm just not able to do it today. So please have patience with me. I'm still learning and I will refund it to you. I'm just Going to take me a day. Not only because I'm new but also computers are down at the moment. ” However, 2 weeks later, I didn't get this refund.

Great location, easy off and on to Interstates. Multiple restaurants within close driving.

Stayed here and took the train in to Chicago. Great location and surrounding area. I would stay here again.

Solid hotel experience. Bed was clean and comfy enough. Requests were attended to promptly. Continental breakfast was mediocre, but fine. Fresh fruit is always a plus. My boyfriend said the fitness center was nice. Would stay again.

Great hotel for the price point. Clean, smelled good, comfy bed. Very nice staff. Ok breakfast.

Overall good. Breakfast was weak - waffles came out crisp in the outside and ran in the middle. I poured water from the hot water carafe into my oatmeal and it was cold.

Shower needed some maintenance. Bed cover had a few blood spots. Otherwise room pretty clean. Below average breakfast as eggs, meat not offered, just carbs like cereal. Waffle maker did not work. For the price it was good enough quality and about what I expect with this brand.
