Comfort Inn & Suites Mishawaka-South Bend

The pool was disgusting, elevator “out of order” ceiling tiles falling down, and the smell of marijuana so strong you could get a contact high. I addressed the problem with the manager who offered no solution other than “if you don’t like it, you can leave.” My family and I had driven over 30 hours and could not safely find somewhere else to go last minute and had no choice but to stay. There was so much activity outside the room that we felt we needed to barricade the door. We still felt incredibly unsafe and ended up leaving in the middle of the night. I have contacted the police for the illegal drug activity and hopefully this place gets shut down for good.

Unfortunately, the elevator and the fitness room as well as a pool were out of service for my stay which was not advertised. In addition come time for bed time I discovered ants were crawling on me on the bed. The Night Shift supervisor was gracious enough to switch Me to another room at 1 AM so I applaud her wonderful customer service however, after I checked out, I was back on my trip I received a phone call asking why I had access to two rooms for some reason. The daytime clerk was furious about this. I was traveling alone, so there was no way I could use two rooms by myself and I had no reason to go back to the original room. I was hoping to leave a good review overall, but the only good point was a Night Shift clerk the owner or front desk daytime clerk is a little bit vindictive unfortunately

Elevator inoperable, hallway glass window shattered, indoor pool water was green, room toilet was loose, bathroom sink faucet was loose, brown/red stain on comforter, fire extinguisher certification expired over one year, visible water damage on ceiling in bathroom, moldy bagel served at continental breakfast, ketchup/blood on stairwell handrail, trash strewn all around exterior of hotel, bathroom sink would not drain. I have pictures. Worst hotel.

It appeared the hotel was under a lot of repairs. The elevator was out of service and they offered to move us to the first floor but we said we were ok with the stairs since we only had an overnight bag. So they “upgraded” our room. The hallway walls were being prepped for paint and the carpet in the halls was worn and buckled in places making it a trip hazard. Window seals were compromised so the windows were foggy. Curtains were in need of attention or replacement. But the rooms and overall hotel was clean. Staff were friendly and nice. Location was noisy with cars and motorcycles racing in the street but the location of the hotel seemed to be in a safe and more upscale area with many other hotels, shopping, and places to eat. I think we just caught them in the middle of repairs.

Dated and dirty Pool not cleaned

No pool, no elevator, leaking pipes in hallways. Overflowing trash cans outside. Breakfast was not very good.

Mold covered bathroom ceiling. Dirt & Grim in bathroom. unwashed bedding, stained shower curtain. Guess there is a rat problem as there were rat traps outside as well as inside the hotel. bathroom faucet barely trinkled out. The pool water was green and cold (not heated as advertised) and ladder was broke.There is no hot tub, only certain rooms with in room hot tubs. There was an exposed outlet hanging off the wall in pool area. Breakfast was microwaved frozen food to which was served to us still partially frozen (eggs, potatoes and biscuits). elevator was not working,hallways smelled like marijuana. Staff was never at the front desk and were always in the back room hanging out. As soon as we arrived and saw the state of the hotel, we asked for a refund so we could go elsewhere and were denied. DO NOT STAY HERE!

The pool was not being properly cared for it looked like it needed to be clean and the elevators didn’t work so we had to use the stairs. Plus the food was not kept up on at breakfast time and it didn’t taste very good.

The people running the hotel were kind and helpful. That being stated, the hotel is not well kept up. In our room there was a loose tile in the bath, the shower did not drain properly, the room floor was uneven & the lamp did not work. The hall rug had a bump in it (trip hazard) and one could see in the corners where the ceiling was peeling. Fire doors were open. Breakfast was there; not something I considered again after the first time.

Dirty carpet in the hallway that bubbled up. Dirty stained carpet in the room. Massive gap at the bottom of the door that you could see out into the hallway through. TV didn't work. Deadbolt wouldn't latch. You could hear every noise from hallway/other rooms. And a cockroach came out of the vent.

I would not stay here again. I don’t mind when a hotel needs updates or paint, I can live with that. Cleanliness was an issue consistently throughout the hotel. So not only was it very beat up but it was also dirty.

Our room was clean but my sister got a room as well and it was filthy. It also smelled like weed very bad. The pool was gross and the pool room smelled like mold.

There were crumbs of food under the bed. There were cockroaches and spiders. Staff deactivated my key before check out time.

Just a dirty hotel overall. Will not stay here again.

The room overall was dirty. It was quickly apparent to me that the bedsheets were not changed, as there was hair on the bed and under the cover. The bathroom was especially dirty, hair in the sink and on the floor, the bathroom mirror wasn’t even clean. Found bugs on the floor.

We arrived in the evening after a long day of travel. Pulling into the parking lot you can see the windows need replaced and the landscaping needed attention. We got into our room to find the carpets were wet, the bed skirts were filthy , the bedside tables were dirty, and the room had a strong chemical smell. The man at the front desk offered other rooms but none were better and the floors in the hallway were filthy. I’m so disappointed as I had booked this night and another in August. I would rather sleep in my car.

Moldy pool and dirty rooms we actually left and went to a Marriott because of how nasty it was and I want to see about a refund

There was a car fender and a stereo speaker along with all kinds of trash outside the hotel. The windows were dirty. The faucet on the sink wasn’t wiped well the toilet moved when you sat down there was cracks in the ceiling. My husband found a pair of shorts hanging in the bathroom. It smelled musty in the room. The hallway smelled a mix of weed and just uncleanliness. The pool had so much chlorine in it. I mean I could go in and on. I read in other reviews AFTER I was lmalready jn my room that there was bedbugs in some of the rooms. Thank god I wasn’t in one of them rooms.

Bed sheets and towels were clean, but this hotel needs a deep cleaning of the carpets in the rooms and hallways, there are lots of noticeable stains. Also the bathroom surfaces were clean, but the corners and grout were very dirty. It was a last minute choice that we won’t make again.

Nice large quiet room, slept great. Solid wifi and TV lineup, strong and hot shower (rare). Excellent stay and will stay again for sure.

This review is overdue. I have given this poorly managed property ample time to fulfill the manager’s commitment to refund a portion of my room fees. During my 3 night stay at this property the Internet service was down the entire time. I contacted the front desk everyday at least 2 times and was told either it would be up later that day or they did not know. I spoke with the manager on my last day and she blamed it on their Internet vendor, not my problem. I am paying for a room and the advertised amenities. She committed verbally to refund a portion of my stay, writing down my room number. However, when contacted by the booking agency she declined to provide a credit. Lack of Internet at the hotel necessitated several trips daily to local cafés with free Internet service in order to download documents I needed daily on my laptop. Due to the inconvenience and false information provided during my stay and run down condition of my room I advise AVOIDING this hotel. The property is an older somewhat rundown property needing maintenance. Heavy perfume smells permeate the property, each morning the parking lot was littered with trash from I assume locals and other guests’ nighttime activities. My room was very dated and dark, half of the lights were broken or burned out, small refrigerator looked as if it had never been defrosted with an iceberg of frost lodged in the top. DO NOT STAY HERE.

We actually stayed at this hotel twice within our vacation - on the way to our destination and on the way back. :) The first stay we were "upgraded" to a jacuzzi room, which was thoughtful. But the jacuzzi needed some serious updating, it was yellowish... and not in a good way. Plus the floor was either damp or cold, we couldn't tell. The second stay in the same vacation was a standard king room. Nothing too special. Both stays the bed was rock hard - my hubby liked it, I hated it. The breakfast was ok, the first stay we thought the waffle batter thingy was maybe old. The second stay we figured out that it is just super thick. They turned out ok. The eggs could have used some help, but it was free and it got the job done before continuing our trips. It was standard stay for an overnight need.

Stayed for 2 days, half of our outlets didn't work and had exposed wires, hair dryer didn't work, sink didn't drain. Overall very poor condition. Generally comfortable experience other than that.

I can honestly say with this hotel you get what you pay for . Half of the lights don’t work in the hotel . It’s almost like they have it that way on purpose maybe to save on utilities . So the room was dark . I had read some really bad reviews about this place so we were a little nervous to stay . However , our room was clean . And no bugs . Which is the most important thing . Building needs maintenance. The carpet is so uneven on the third floor you almost trip every time you walk the hall . Only one man who checked us in speaked English . He was nice and made check in easy but however the housekeeping staff didn’t understand a word of what we said . I was also not about to ride in that elevator . So we had to walk 3 flights of stairs every time going to our room . The kids did not end up swimming in the pool . Again , you get what you pay for I guess . It wasn’t terrible , again the main thing to me is that the room is decent and spacious . Clean bedding and no bugs . I do think if it continues to run down though that the building will be unable to have guests within 10 years . The whole building desperately needs new carpet . I will say though it was only 270 for 2 nights and other hotels in the area were going to end up being over 700 . So price wise it was good. Also there was more than one rodent repel trap in the building so it sort of made me nervous but maybe they just are taking precaution with that .

The bed was very comfortable. The hallway carpet was very worn and the walls need to be repainted. The windows in our room were very cloudy so we couldn’t see out.

We had a bad experience booking online. We booked after midnight and when we arrived at the property the doors were locked for security reasons which is understandable , however when I rang the bell over 5 times no came to the door. I had to call the hotel.We were finally let in to go check in and they did not have a reservation for us in the computer. We had already paid on Expedia so we had to contact Expedia. Unfortunately Expedia did not have a phone number to call we had to contact them via email. We were very tired , we had a long drive and wanted to check in quickly since we were leaving to finish our drive in several hours. When we finished checking (30 minutes later) we went to get into our room and the key card didn’t work on the rooom we were assigned so my husband had to go back yo the front desk to get another key. She ended up giving us another room than we were originally assigned . Booking online was supposed to make it easier but instead it made everything more complicated.

Great town lousy staff rude n uncooperative

It was a great experience at this hotel only issue I had was the smoke alarm went off due to turning the heat on , told front desk and she was very helpful!

I liked the person working at the front desk. He was extremely helpful. He went out of his way to make our stay a positive one.

I called to get directions, all I got was by a walmart. I was right next door at Arbys. They told me it was right next door. Woman at Inn could have told me it was right on a street.

Good location and clean

The stay was very good. The breakfast was great! Fire Doors were left open and not closed. Staff was great in helping me with my room card, as I kept putting it in backwards. The location is great, close to gas stations, stores and restaurants and just a few minutes off the interstate. I would stay there again!

We had a nice stay. There was water damage on the ceiling of our bathroom and the sprinkler in our room was completely rusted. Not sure if it would have worked in an emergency. Food all over floors in hallways when we checked in. It was still there the next day, even with people cleaning rooms and hallways. Pool is average. Could use a new pool liner. Comfortable beds and good location.

I liked the convenience of the location to food and main roads. I did not like that I saw a live rodent upon check in right next to the door and a dead one or two the next day in the same area.

Location very close to Notre Dame my favorite college and my favorite football team and close by to every walkable retail shop store where people get congregated

This was a very good stay. The check in went very well. The room was spotless. The bed was very comfy. The shower was easy to use. Breakfast was pretty good.

The front desk staff was very professional and cordial. The breakfast on the first day was cold and raw. After notifying the front desk about that experience, the breakfast on the second day was "decent". I wouldn't say it was good but at least it wasn't as raw as the first day. This is definitely an area that needs to be improved. Other than that, it was a good stay at your facility. Thank you

Facility is tired and in need of updating. Had to place towel at base of door to prevent Marijuana smoke/smell from permeating into our room. Fixtures in common area were worn. Breakfast area was filthy and trash was overflowing. The price was very reasonable and I didn't expect the JW Marriott but some basic services were that bad that I felt I had to share. The list is even longer but I'll stop here. We won't be staying again.

I secured rooms for my brother and his grown sons two weekends in a row. I chose Comfort Inn because they offered breakfast for the same overall price as the other local hotels. However, both weekends the breakfast was crummy. Baccon was raw as if it came directly out of the package, placed in a skillet for a couple of seconds and then out to be served. Eggs were cold and runny. One of my nephews said the biscuits & gravy were "ok" but that's not an item that my brother can eat. I called after the 1st night/weekend and talked to the front desk about the situation, thinking it would improve going forward but it did not. If you can't provide a decent breakfast, then go to a continental breakfast or just take it off as an option. Other than that, the rooms were nice and clean and front desk staff was very kind and pleasant to work with.
