Cliff Dwellers Inn

This is a very cozy place to stay. I wish the parking lot near our room had been plowed but the road up to the building was well maintained.

Pros: The room was spacious and clean. Balcony with nice view of mountains. Close to town of Blowing Rock. Cons: Wi-Fi didn’t work. Lobby was closed off. Located on a steep hill with no walkway to main road.

TV was very difficult to work. The air freshener smell was WAY too much. The room was huge, the bed was comfortable and the water pressure was great. Everything was probably original. Fall is the busy time in the mountains, but WAY overpriced for what you get. Darren was there to give us our keys and put a bucket of ice in the room but then went home and if we needed anything all we had to do was call him. He lives an hour away. No coffee in the morning except in your room. No elevator so ask for a lower room if you need. The view of Chetola, however, was a bonus from the second floor

The room was dated. When I walked into the room all the adjoining room doors were open on the hole floor. The office didn’t open until 9am. There was an ice bucket but I couldn’t even find the ice machine. There was no sign. Parking lot was very tight for my Ram pickup.

We only stayed one night, we were up there to get a Christmas tree. The place was clean. The bed was so comfy and so were the pillows. great water pressure. It snowed while we were there, so we were sketched out about the driveway but they salted it and everything was fine!

We especially appreciated the friendliness and genuine care and consideration of the staff and property owner. The unit was roomy, nicely decorated and very clean. My sister and I arrived after hours, and everything was prepared for us when we got there. Darren, the property owner, turn on the heat, left the lights and TV on for us, and put ice on the room. He had left "real keys" at the office, a long with our paperwork. There is ample parking at each level. The only thing with room for improvement, were the bathroom facilities. The Cliff Dwellers Inn is a landmark that has been around for many years. I feel that is was a great value for the area. The views are amazing on a warm sunny day. The room was huge but the shower was moldy and didn't drain properly. The fan didnt work, was missing a blade. There was a lot of dust on the ceiling and the musty room smell was strong. I booked for the view but the other issues didnt make it worth it.

The staff was warm and welcoming. The room was spacious and immaculately clean. The view from the private balcony was amazing. The location was excellent. Definitely one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had.

Not even quaint… old motel at 200+a night - no room service or making the beds, no fresh towels, no ambiance and no regular tv service (streaming only) Haven’t stayed in a place like that since the early 60’s… if it hadn’t been for the July 4th weekend I might have found another room, but alas…

PROS: I really liked the location of the property. It is placed in a convenient place close to everything I needed. The staff that checked me in was professional and friendly. Parking was easy, and the room was surprisingly large with a great view. Overall I felt very safe in the property. CONS: I couldn’t sleep because the dust and mold in the room. It was unbarring. I constantly needed to step outside for fresh air. The bathroom had mold in the curtain and everywhere. The shower head was very uncomfortable, spilling water all over. I couldn’t use my phone or the TV at all because the WI-FI didn’t work. That and the mold were the most frustrating things. The pillows were very uncomfortable too. I can see that if the mold would be taken care of, and maybe some minor remodeling, this inn would be popping. It was OK for a one night stay, but I won’t see my self returning.

Our room had a balconly with a fabulous view of the mountains & surrounding area. The room was dated but clean and comfortable. Friendly check-in but no one was available at the front desk the next two mornings or later (10:00 PM) that evening when we came back from being out.

Everything was good. The only issue we had was that the maid didn’t service the room or even bring new towels. We would stay here again.

Room was decent. The beds are super uncomfortable and the heat couldn’t make up its mind what to do so we ended up not sleeping most of the night. Very outdated - but the shower has AMAZING pressure so that’s a plus.

It’s a bit dated but the room we stayed in was big and had a private balcony with a nice view. Everything was clean and bed was comfortable. The office closed at 5 and we were going to be later than that, so the staff was kind enough to leave our key in an envelope inside a small mailbox on the side of the building. The cost was a bit pricey for this type of hotel and room, but we stayed on a Saturday night and weekend rates are usually higher. Other hotels in Boone and Blowing Rock were more expensive, which is why we chose Cliff Dwellers.

The property was older, but the room was clean and quiet. The balcony wasn’t really a balcony. It was just chairs outside the room door. But the scenery was nice and we enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful view and huge room.

We were looking for a place to stay on a last-minute decision on a trip we were just on. The pictures looked reasonable, so we took a chance on it. Overall, the property is obviously showing its age, but it is well maintained and clean. It reminds me of those old motels you would see in the movies where you would spend a night after a long day of travel. I chose a room that by my dumb luck had a separate bedroom and bath from the rest of the living and kitchen area. I found out when we were checking in that some of the rooms are your typical small hotel rooms. Don't get me wrong, it did say on the description that the bedroom was separate, which I didn't notice, and it was a nice surprise to have a living room separate from the bedroom so that when I was up in the middle of the night, I didn't disturb my wife. While the rooms are dated, they are clean, and the beds were very comfortable and clean. There were ample towels and linens to meet our needs. When we checked in the gentleman at the front desk was very welcoming and helpful. He did inform us that the room which we had, which was up the hill from the main building probably would not have WIFI or spotty. He did say they were working getting that corrected. There are TVs in each room so you can watch want you want but if you need WIFI on the upper rooms it could be iffy or nonexistent. Overall, I would recommend this hotel because it is off the beaten path and you are a short drive from downtown & loads of other things

Pleasently surprised at the apartment like atmosphere of our room!! Extremely homy feel, cozy decor, most comfortable bed! The view was amazing, and location was close to any and all needs! Highly recommend, and will definitely return for another stay!

I booked a delux room with a balcony but when I got there the reception sent us to another room. When I asked why we did not get the deluxe room he said someone was already in it. The room said continental breakfast. When I asked what time is breakfast he said they stopped doing breakfast several months ago. I told him I am disappointed I did not get what I paid for and with no breakfast. He said he is not responsible for what Expedia has advertised. Very dissatisfied.

My stay here was very pleasant ! My room Was very clean and cozy with enough space for four people. It was very quiet, I didn’t hear much noise outside. I think it was cool that the place was off a steep cliff. The staff was very friendly and even allowed me to check in at 11 am instead of 4 which I appreciated since I flew on and drove 3 hours . Would recommend

The heat unit was extremely loud & we could not sleep. Called office & complained & asked to be moved to different room. He acknowledged the heat unit needed replacing but could not move us they were sold out. Offered space heater. It was 29 degrees outside & it did not keep us warm. Asked for refund & were denied. Room was clean but loud. Will not stay here again.

Great location, but the inn needs a good bit of TLC.

My husband and I stayed here for a quick weekend getaway. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, the hotel was in a great location near wonderful restaurants and shops, and our room was clean and felt safe. We will definitely be back and would highly recommended to anyone looking for a nice budget friendly place to stay when visiting the area.

Cliffdweller's Inn is a hidden gem. It turned out to be a great weekend stay...Very conveniently situated in Blowing Rock and an easy drive to Boone!

This place was absolutely perfect for what we were looking for! We love to visit Boone, NC and Blowing Rock, NC to hit up our favorite places. This was the perfect spot because it was close to shopping downtown and close to where we go. the view was amazing especially with the Christmas lights! We definitely will be coming back next year for our yearly adventure!! Thank you for being such an amazing place!

This place is a little gem. It's older but the rooms have been updated and ours was very clean. Also they're very roomy and come with a real drip pot, fridge and microwave. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Great location on the edge of Blowing Rock and close to Boone. We'll be back.

Everything was very clean. Awesome mountain views. Staff was very friendly. Make sure U bring coffee, creamer, and sugar as the place doesn't supply any, but they do have coffee makers in the rooms. Just a small inconvenience that can be planned for.
