The hotel has a very welcoming feel from the moment you arrive. Greeted by the friendly reception team, your requirements and expectations are reviewed carefully. There are no lifts in the hotel so if you are on the 2nd floor you may have to ask for assistance with your luggage. Rooms overlooking the extensive gardens are preferred, as there can be some road noise from rooms at the front of the main building. The rooms are comfortable with the usual basic amenities. Dogs are allowed in the outside cottages and are welcome in the lounge and public bar if they can hold it together! You can eat in either the hotel restaurant or the bar, but the menus are currently a bit restrictive on choice, but the food is good and well served. This hotel is popular for weddings and conferences so can be busy at times, so worth asking when you book to save time and avoid disappointment if you wanted a quiet relaxing stay. There is adequate parking and some of the cottages have dedicated parking areas. The hotel is ideally situated on the main Bath Road giving good access to Westonbirt Arboretum, Highgrove and Tetbury. It can be difficult to get a taxi, so booking in advance is essential. The hotel has a very relaxing atmosphere, and weather permitting there is extensive seating on the garden patio area to enjoy a drink and a meal.

Always good. But they have (extremely courteous) but not very experienced young staff. This results in misses. For instance: Washbasin blocked and the housekeeping staff who use it to wash cups etc obviously don’t report it. Result: basin blocked full within three minutes of tap on. Overflow likely. Have to turn TV on and off at the wall. Remote doesn’t work. Have to repeat instructions to breakfast staff because they don’t talk to each other. Safe keeps failing. Had to get manager out twice to unlock it twice in a three night stay Most irritating of all. Total refusal to allow early access to room. Fine if not cleaned but they didn’t even check and just said three o’clock and that’s it. No empathy about tired travellers. We arrived literally from the other side of the world and have dropped upwards of 40k GBP with Cotswold hotels in the last twelve months hosting special events. Manager uninformed and didn’t really give a toss. You have an amazing asset and you’re not managing it properly. The devil is in the detail. Shape up or you’re going to devalue a potentially fantastic platform and opportunity

Only stayed for one night, but it was excellent throughout, everyone so polite and helpful, from the front desk all the way through all the other members of staff. Eceptional staff. Brilliant dog friendly touches as well, all the staff made our furry companion feels like a guest in his own right.
