The hotel is a very old building and therefore no lift and for us in a top floor room quite a lot of stairs. Room was a good size with double bed, desk, small table and two chairs, wardrobe with iron and ironing board. Tea and coffee making facilities, hairdrier and fridge. Free wi-fi good TV. Reasonable sized en-suite with over-bath shower. Mismatched bedside lights; not important but could improve the image. There is airccon but we didnt need it. Good choice of breakfast; continental or cooked to order. Bar is popular and quite busy but service was good. Ate on Saturday night in restaurant area. Good standard chef and brewer pub food, pleasant and efficient waiting staff and not overpriced. Big car park at rear of hotel. In general an enjoyable stay; had one minor issue quickly resolved when brought to managers attention.

Excellent bar downstairs which was very clean and looked very attractive. Room itself was quirky and large. Had everything needed , warm , comfortable although only thing I didn’t care for was the pillows. A little too hard for me but everybody is different We didn’t eat in hotel as we were meeting with friends but looked very nice .

This is an older property but as long as you know what to expect, all is well. We were in a room right at the top, so it was quieter, but the climb would not suit everyone. The staff are very good. Breakfast has various hot and cold options and eveything we've tried has been fresh and tasty. We also had a good dinner here one evening. We'd definitely stay here again.

Excellent. Friendly staff. Very clean premises. I was surprised by the Expedia site which quoted breakfast for the standard room at £10.50 each but for the Courtyard room £18 each. Embarrassing because the hotel menu quotes £10.50!!!!

Very pleasant stay In be a lovely old pub. Room was very clean and warm, and bigger than expected . Water was very hot which was a nice change to some establishments I think only fault would be quite hard mattress and hard pillows. Lovely, quirky old inn. Clean & comfortable. Food good. Staff friendly & helpful. Next time we will request a room not on the top floor, as we are in our 70’s & found the uneven stairs a bit of a challenge!

Loved the oldie worldlyness of the place. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was good we ate at dinner and breakfast. Our only complaint was the bed, we like soft/medium but that was firm bordering on rock hard.

Mark , his wife and team create a friendly atmosphere where nothing is too much of a problem. My only criticism would be the standard of the croissants and danish pastries. they never looked fresh and appetising, the croissants were very bready, I will let you off the fruit selection because the whole country suffers from that!!!

Fascinating pub with an amazing history. Had I been aware. Of the stairs being old and interesting, I might have asked for a ground floor room, but I’m very glad I didn’t know as it was a lovely room. Staff were lovely and very helpful and friendly, my gluten free diet was catered for and absolutely no complaints about anything. 12/10. Thank you for a lovely stay

Geordie guy who checked.us in was top drawer. Really friendly. The patrons were really friendly and we ended up having a chat with many regulars. Great place to stay.

Tutbury a lovely place . Hotel nice but we thought £80 a night was enough to pay for a quirky but average quality room which needs a little bit of tlc to bring it up to date. Bathroom very tired!

My only criticism would be the standard of the croissants and danish pastries. they never looked fresh and appetising, the croissants were very bready, I will let you off the fruit selection because the whole country suffers from that!!!

Lovely, quirky old inn. Clean & comfortable. Food good. Staff friendly & helpful. Next time we will request a room not on the top floor, as we are in our 70’s & found the uneven stairs a bit of a challenge!

Lovely old fashioned coaching Inn. Fabulous bar area, quirky comfortable large rooms. Nice dinner, great breakfast (included in price). Very good value.

Loved the oldie worldlyness of the place. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was good we ate at dinner and breakfast. Our only complaint was the bed, we like soft/medium but that was firm bordering on rock hard.

The staff were fantastic , smiley friendly and very helpful. The room was lovely and a very comfy bed .The Breakfast was fab with varied choice .. would recommend to anyone who wants a lovely stay in Tutbury .

Old building. Rooms were above the pub. Quite steep steps to the rooms and one or two low beams. Preferred the rooms to the pub. Central heating worked and the room was spacious. A couple of cobwebs on the ceiling, which could have been easily dispensed with, but otherwise all was fine. Breakfast was adequate though would have liked some cold meats as part of the continental breakfast. Cooked breakfast also available. Staff were not immediately available on arrival, but they were apologetic for the delay when they arrived, and were courteous and showed me to the room.

Nice large room, comfortable bed . Be nice to leave more than 2 tea bags and 2 milks, but unnecessarily stingy. Pillows uncomfortable and very heavy thick quilt for heatwave. AC in room much appreciated. Staff efficient and friendly, nice to be shown to room and bag carried . Breakfast excellent , varied and cooked to order. Car parking behind pub. Stayed 10 years ago and return visit as good! Excellent value for £85
