The house was comfortable and has lots of character. Such a great place for lounging and exploring. The yard offered intrigue and exploring. The private trail down to the beach was convenient. Communication with the host was the best I have experienced in this rental venue. Located right on the edge of town made access to shops, restaurants, coffee/cafe, galleries etc. easy.

We had a wonderful time in this charming house with a huge yard full of art and toys and a view and path to the beach. Our grandchildren's favorite spot is a large bush with a secret room inside with table and chairs and pots for making magic potion.

Beautiful views, lovely bedrooms, comfortable home. Loved the big yard and beach access. The outdoor Christmas lights were a nice touch. Walking distance to market, restaurants, coffee shop, bookstore, town and coastal trails. We’ll be back!

This place stands out as a truly exceptional find, both the house and the large back yard have a lot of character and charm. Every corner seems to hold a surprise, with an eclectic array of artwork adorning the walls and outdoor spaces. It’s also great that the beach is just a 5-minute walk down your own private path. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and am already planning my return visit. For those seeking a vacation rental with character, tranquility, and easy beach access, I highly recommend this.

My husband, daughter, son-in- law and I enjoyed this house. It was the only VRBO I found in Mendocino that had king-sized beds in 2 of the bedrooms, so although it has a 3rd bedroom which we didn't need I rented it. The kitchen was well equiped although we were not cooking. They did not skimp on the matresses, pillows and bedding. The back yard is interesting. We did have difficulty getting into the lock boxes - host needs to explain them better - and the lock to the door was very difficult which we pointed out to the owner who came by. The path to the beach is a bit of a hazzard, but there is a good path behind the church 2 doors down. We had a wonderful meal at the Italian restaurant - I forget the name - that is just 3 blocks away, but if you are interested be sure to make a reservation. Also enjoyed The Wharf in Fort Bragg, and I also suggest reservations there. We were blessed with sunshine and no rain, but it is windy and thus can be cold in unprotected areas.

We enjoyed a very relaxing vacation at this charming house by the beach. The house was comfortable, with all the amenities one could ask for to ensure a pleasant stay. The backyard is beautiful and offers a serene spot to enjoy morning coffee. The beach is only a 10 minute walk, with a trail with stairs at the top. The bottom of the trail could use some trimming of the bushes, as they were very overgrown. The house is close to shops and restaurants. Overall, it is a perfect blend of comfort and convenience.

I have to begin with the truth about this property, which is, the photos and description don't nearly do it justice. The house is warm and inviting with beautiful and well thought out personal touches. We didn't want for anything once we arrived. The location is perfect for strolling downtown and walking to wonderful dining experiences as well as shopping and art galleries. The backyard is unbelievably large and ringed with art and lush plants that hide even more treasures and secluded spaces to take in the beach and listen to the waves roll in. The private path to the beach itself was just enough to give you privacy from the folks strolling the shoreline and paddling out to surf. I almost didn't want to write a glowing review for this property because I wanted to keep this gem of the Mendicino coast all to ourselves. We will absolutely book another trip and only wished that we could have had more time to stay and bask in the beauty and comfort this property has in droves. Thank you so very much for allowing us into your home and giving us such wonderful memories to take home. Dayna and Nathan

Property is magical. Old house vibe with modern core. Great back yard, with beach views and easy beach access. Location is ab fab - steps from downtown and easy drive to all locations nearby. Kitchen well planned and equipped. Bedrooms large with updated beds. Baths clean and well stocked. Easy parking and access. Very welcoming living and entertaining (dining) area. Technology A+. Friends who live in the area visited us and said this is one of the best rentals sites they have seen. We'll be back, for sure.

Four of us (two couples) stayed at the Cinderella House for three nights in mid July. There are many things to love about this home: —The location is fabulous: in Mendocino Village proper and within an easy walk to the many fine restaurants and shops, as well as the trail along the ocean bluffs. —The house itself is very clean, well equipped and quite comfortable. The beds are really nice and there is plenty of comfy seating in the living area. Please note: this is an older home that has been very nicely refurbished, but does not offer luxurious bathrooms or a gourmet kitchen. Everything you need for a great stay has been provided, however. —The property itself must be seen to be believed. The view is marvelous and there is a trail to the beautiful beach below. There are many enchanting and whimsical surprises throughout the garden which will delight guests of any age. We look forward to another, longer stay as soon as we can find our way back to Mendocino. We highly recommend this home.

We enjoyed a multi-day working vacation in this delightful, well-situated home. The historic home is well cared for and clean. Its location above a beach (within walking distance) and in Mendocino village can't be beat. We loved the beach, the headlands, and exploring the village plus other nearby attractions. Don't miss Santosha Yoga/Massage, either! Highly recommended.

Our family stayed here for two nights over a weekend and really appreciated the house and its location. It was clean, beds were comfortable, and we all had fun exploring the yard and its neat surprises, the beach, local trails, and access to yummy food in town. The owner was very communicative and helpful. Five stars!

First, communication with Gary was great and I am are so happy we were able to stay in the “Cinderella House”. I lived in this house in the late 1950’s and have been wanting to stay here ever since it became available as a rental. I’m thrilled that Gary researched and provided historical information that I didn’t previously know about the house and previous owners. I appreciate that he has kept as much as he could of the original house. It does make it a little quirky, but that is really what makes the house charming and relevant to the charm of Mendocino, as it was just a sleepy fishing town in the 50’s.The beds were comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed and the backyard was amazing! The crab apple tree that I remember is still there and now creates an umbrella for a special area that I would’ve loved to have had as a child (I won’t spoil the surprise by going into detail). And then there’s the treehouse … and all the amazing artwork to enjoy throughout the yard.The items in the yard that have been collected over the years contained a wonderful surprise for our family (see Texaco truck photo of my brother). Who knows what else we may have left behind that now has a wonderful place for all to enjoy. Last, by not least, the view of Big River and the ability to walk down to the beach. Stunning and peaceful. I hope to bring my siblings back next time we rent this house. Thank you, Gary, for sharing your house so I could take a wonderful walk down memory lane.

Loved this property, it is not the fanciest or biggest house but it is very quaint and comfortable. Kitchen was probably the best stocked kitchen with every appliance you could ever need. Love the path to the beach and would definitely stay here again. If I had one complaint it would be the upstairs bedroom to the right would benefit from a memory foam topper as bed is very very firm but all in all a great house.

Beds were super comfy. Kitchen is fabulous!! Lovely fireplace and cozy couch.Went kayaking on the river and toe dipping in the ocean. Had very good meals in town at Fog Eater and Trilium. Pizzas from the Beaujolais also excellent. Fun time! Lots to do. We'll be back!

And then there’s the treehouse … and all the amazing artwork to enjoy throughout the yard.The items in the yard that have been collected over the years contained a wonderful surprise for our family (see Texaco truck photo of my brother). Who knows what else we may have left behind that now has a wonderful place for all to enjoy. Last, by not least, the view of Big River and the ability to walk down to the beach. Stunning and peaceful. I hope to bring my siblings back next time we rent this house. Thank you, Gary, for sharing your house so I could take a wonderful walk down memory lane.
First, communication with Gary was great and I am are so happy we were able to stay in the “Cinderella House”. I lived in this house in the late 1950’s and have been wanting to stay here ever since it became available as a rental. I’m thrilled that Gary researched and provided historical information that I didn’t previously know about the house and previous owners. I appreciate that he has kept as much as he could of the original house. It does make it a little quirky, but that is really what makes the house charming and relevant to the charm of Mendocino, as it was just a sleepy fishing town in the 50’s.The beds were comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed and the backyard was amazing! The crab apple tree that I remember is still there and now creates an umbrella for a special area that I would’ve loved to have had as a child (I won’t spoil the surprise by going into detail). The house was comfortable and has lots of character. Such a great place for lounging and exploring. The yard offered intrigue and exploring. The private trail down to the beach was convenient. Communication with the host was the best I have experienced in this rental venue. Located right on the edge of town made access to shops, restaurants, coffee/cafe, galleries etc. easy.

My only complaint is that we couldn’t stay longer. The house was quaint and so cute. My granddaughter and I loved the path to the ocean and all of the creative yard art. Location was perfect. We walked all over Mendocino and listened to the music festival in the evenings. Thank you for the wine! It was a memorable trip!

My husband, daughter, son-in- law and I enjoyed this house. It was the only VRBO I found in Mendocino that had king-sized beds in 2 of the bedrooms, so although it has a 3rd bedroom which we didn't need I rented it. The kitchen was well equiped although we were not cooking. They did not skimp on the matresses, pillows and bedding. The back yard is interesting. We did have difficulty getting into the lock boxes - host needs to explain them better - and the lock to the door was very difficult which we pointed out to the owner who came by. The path to the beach is a bit of a hazzard, but there is a good path behind the church 2 doors down. We had a wonderful meal at the Italian restaurant - I forget the name - that is just 3 blocks away, but if you are interested be sure to make a reservation. Also enjoyed The Wharf in Fort Bragg, and I also suggest reservations there. We were blessed with sunshine and no rain, but it is windy and thus can be cold in unprotected areas.

Our family stayed here for two nights over a weekend and really appreciated the house and its location. It was clean, beds were comfortable, and we all had fun exploring the yard and its neat surprises, the beach, local trails, and access to yummy food in town. Perfect beachside house. So many touches to make us feel welcome from flowers to wine. Everything was perfect. Beds were great with tons of warm blankets. Interesting garden. Loved every minute

We enjoyed a multi-day working vacation in this delightful, well-situated home. The historic home is well cared for and clean. Its location above a beach (within walking distance) and in Mendocino village can't be beat. We loved the beach, the headlands, and exploring the village plus other nearby attractions. Don't miss Santosha Yoga/Massage, either! Highly recommended.

Wonderful location within easy walking distance of everything in Mendocino. Beautiful secluded back garden with stunning view of the sea through framing trees. Everything necessary inside and very comfortable. Charming Cinderella story.

My sisters and I stayed here for 4 nights celebrating 2 birthdays. The house was perfect- so comfortable and the setting is glorious- the beach is a short walk from the property and is so beautiful. We also enjoyed walking along the bluff and exploring the town. We will be back for sure!!!

I have to begin with the truth about this property, which is, the photos and description don't nearly do it justice. The house is warm and inviting with beautiful and well thought out personal touches. We didn't want for anything once we arrived. The location is perfect for strolling downtown and walking to wonderful dining experiences as well as shopping and art galleries. The backyard is unbelievably large and ringed with art and lush plants that hide even more treasures and secluded spaces to take in the beach and listen to the waves roll in. The private path to the beach itself was just enough to give you privacy from the folks strolling the shoreline and paddling out to surf. I almost didn't want to write a glowing review for this property because I wanted to keep this gem of the Mendicino coast all to ourselves. We will absolutely book another trip and only wished that we could have had more time to stay and bask in the beauty and comfort this property has in droves. Four of us (two couples) stayed at the Cinderella House for three nights in mid July. There are many things to love about this home: —The location is fabulous: in Mendocino Village proper and within an easy walk to the many fine restaurants and shops, as well as the trail along the ocean bluffs. —The house itself is very clean, well equipped and quite comfortable. The beds are really nice and there is plenty of comfy seating in the living area. Please note: this is an older home that has been very nicely refurbished, but does not offer luxurious bathrooms or a gourmet kitchen. Everything you need for a great stay has been provided, however. —The property itself must be seen to be believed. The view is marvelous and there is a trail to the beautiful beach below. There are many enchanting and whimsical surprises throughout the garden which will delight guests of any age. We look forward to another, longer stay as soon as we can find our way back to Mendocino. We highly recommend this home.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at the Cinderella House and had a magical experience. We had so much fun exploring the property; surprises around every corner. The location can't be beat. We could walk everywhere. Our bed was super comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. We enjoyed dinner at La Luna Italian restaurant and watching the Warriors game at Pattersons. Looking forward to going back one of these days!

Loved this property, it is not the fanciest or biggest house but it is very quaint and comfortable. Kitchen was probably the best stocked kitchen with every appliance you could ever need. Love the path to the beach and would definitely stay here again. If I had one complaint it would be the upstairs bedroom to the right would benefit from a memory foam topper as bed is very very firm but all in all a great house.

Beds were super comfy. Kitchen is fabulous!! Lovely fireplace and cozy couch.Went kayaking on the river and toe dipping in the ocean. Had very good meals in town at Fog Eater and Trilium. Pizzas from the Beaujolais also excellent. Fun time! Lots to do. We'll be back!

This beautiful and immaculate home was so charming and comfortable. We loved being able to walk to everything in Mendocino right from the house. I found that we dilly dallied instead of leaving because we just didn’t want to leave the house. The back yard/gardens are beautiful and downright magical. The path to the beach was great to have right there on property. This home has everything you might need for a Mendocino stay and we were very pleased with the amenities provided. Wonderful host as well. : )

What an amazing gem in Mendocino village! Cinderella House is full of history, but with modern amenities. The beds were comfy, the house was clean, and there was so much to do! Games, stargazing, music, movies, and a sweet private path to the beach. I have rented many VRBOs and this is at the top of my list. Outstanding kitchen with all you need and more to cook and bake. I didn’t have to buy staples like sugar or spices or olive oil or vinegar. It felt like we were staying in a friend’s wonderfully eclectic, warm, lived in home. The yard is huge, you can see white water through the trees from the deck. Heaven!! So grateful for this lovely home!

This house has a great location, a good size and setup, and a wonderful yard. It’s walkable to a beach, several restaurants, and stores. It was our dog’s first road trip, and she loved the yard even more than my kid did.
