Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Howell by IHG

Property is heavily under renovation. I can’t believe the room cost as much for us having to check in at a pop up table in an old room with a bathtub in it. I’m sure the renovations will be beautiful, but rooms should be heavily discounted until the property returns to normal operations.

Comfortable bed, spacious room, clean pool

The hotel staff was very friendly and courteous. The breakfast was hot, fresh, and delicious. The kids and I had a blast at the pool. I would definitely come back as well as recommend.

The property was undergoing updating and renovations, so they created a makeshift check in area. But the staff made everything so pleasant and welcoming. From what we could see of the renovations, it’s going to be very nice when it’s completed. The room was comfortable, quiet, and clean.

Bed on 2nd night was very uncomfortable. Hotel under construction so that part was very unappealing. I am a detail person and there were a lot of weeds in landscaping to the front door that needed pulled. Small things like that make a difference and tell you how the inside might be. Weird seeing a tub in the check in area.

Had to stay for a baseball tournament. Dated rooms but clean and the pool was great, breakfast was amazing and the staff was fantastic.

This property was under construction. Workers were actively working on projects such as sanding drywall. To get to our room we needed to walk through the dust. This resulted in asthma and allergy exacerbation. If I knew the state of this property, I would not have paid $180/ night. This is not worth it!

It’s under construction, but everything was very clean and no amenities were missing that I noticed. A very great stay, as always.

The hotel rooms are not the best clean wise. The bathroom had pee on the sides. I did informed them and they didn’t do anything.

The lobby was clean, staff was pleasant but the room was not clean, beds were uncomfortable.

The room was not in good condition. When we arrived there was still trash and dirty towels from the guests before. Every inch of the room was either stained, or broken. The pull out sofa sleeper was so disgusting and stained we had to ask for a roll away bed. The bathtub was gross that even after we scrubbed it ourselves we had to lay a towel down just to use it. Breakfast was good, and dining area was clean. The front desk was very helpful and very nice, however, the maid staff was extremely rude and actually told my family to “move” when we were in her way in the lobby.

My room had bugs in the corners of the bathroom, cobwebs from the ceiling light to the corner of entry, had an awful odor and the carpet was filthy and stained. To walk on it without shoes or socks was gross. Not sure if it’s a pet friendly hotel and perhaps the stains were from animal urine.

The lobby looked nice. Our room was pretty shabby. The carpeting had stains throughout. Furniture dinged up. The office chair was dirty. Lamp shades dusty. Dead bugs in the bathroom light. The tub was slow to drain. Looking back, I absolutely should have requested a different room.

The carpet and chairs didn't appear to be clean. There were some large visible stains on the chairs and carpet. Something that the hotel management may need to pay attention to. Also there was some hair in the bathroom, probably from the previous guests which make me think that the cleaning staff isn't doing their job properly. The customer service team was excellent though.

Max, the receptionist, was extremely friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The breakfast was well stocked and I could tell the woman running it took pride in her work, and was very friendly, even towards the kids. The pool area didn't have many towels for guests to use (after 9pm so maybe they had just run out for the day.) There was no bedding in our room for the sofa bed but Max was quick to grab me some when I asked. We booked a suite room for our family of 8 and the floors were pretty gross and the room definitely needs a deep cleaning. The hotel itself could use a deep cleaning or at least cleaning to baseboards and flooring ( the things that people notice when they are hoping not to bring bugs home with them!) Overall, Id rank the stay a 7.5 because Max was very kind and intentional in her welcoming of guests and I know it's not her job to keep the hotel clean. Id only return if we couldnt find a hotel closer to our destination next time because I'm a germaphobe and the bathrooms and cleanliness is a big deal for my family.

When booking this room, we were not informed that the hotel was under renovation. The renovation is understandable since the entire hotel seemed severely outdated. I could overlook that part of it. However, the hallways and our room were not properly cleaned. The floor in our room was heavily stained, the bathroom mirror was covered in toothpaste splatter, the makeup wipe packet on the bathroom counter had a dead bug squished on it, around the beds had food crumbs that hadn’t been vacuumed, and flat surfaces still showed beverage rings that weren’t wiped up. The breakfast area is currently in a meeting room that was unable to accommodate more than a handful of people. A family member of ours had their own room with similar issues to ours and I overheard another guest also complaining to the front desk about the lack of cleanliness of their room. I would say do better communicating the state of your hotel when people book rooms and housekeeping needs to be addressed immediately.

The hotel was dirty with stains on carpet and furniture.

The room was absolutely disgusting, Holiday should be embarrassed. IHG this property is so run down and disgusting. The GM/AGM what are you doing to allow the rooms to get into this condition. We did not stay it was gross.

Property was dated. The rooms were in need of remodeling and needed to be updated. The beds were not that comfortable. The floor tiles moved in areas by the bathroon and the jetted tub. The coffee pot did not work. Staff seemed friendly but not to knowledgeable about the check-in procedure.

It was a good place clean and quiet would stay there again

Never had the bed made. any day. TV remote would only work from a foot from the TV. Defeats the term remote. The coffee maker didn't work. There were no cups in the room. There were not paper and pen in the room. The room was very noisy from the highway next to the motel.

Recommend taking a hand light /makeup mirror. Poor bathroom lighting, was like CANDLE Light :( Room phone was DEAD on my end when I tried to call Front Desk. When reported, staff did not appear to understand this is a SAFETY issue, esp. for older adults. NO ONE said, "I'm sorry about that" or "Thank you for telling us" or "We'll take care of it".

Hotel was good overall. Sleeping on the beds, not great at all. Beds were crazy springy and really uncomfortable.

Tv didn't work and had to call front desk to come and reset. Bathtub didn't drain. After 1st shower, the tub was full and no one could shower after.

Noisy. Interstate rigs shifting constantly.

Road Noise i96 was terrible and we did not sleep well at all.

It was quiet but the furniture in our room was all tore up and we couldn’t even sit on it.

Room & bed were great and then I found a $10 unexplained charge on my credit card from Holiday Inn. Still don't know why.

This is the nicest hotel staff I've ever met. They really cater to anything you need. Super friendly. And really went above and beyond to make sure my girlfriend and i had an amazing stay.

The second and third shift employees were unfriendly and unhelpful. Pretty disappointing. Parking was not available, and we were told to park down the street and walk back.

Staff is friendly, beds and pillows are comfortable. Good variety of food for breakfast.

Located on the outskirts of Howell, off-off a highway, this hotel was easy to access and navigate and is a very short drive from downtown. Room and bed very comfortable. They're remodeling but compensating pretty well. My only complaint (very minor) is that they ran short on mini cinnamon rolls quickly at breakfast both days we stayed.

Standard Holiday Inn experience. Clean, friendly staff, basic breakfast (although many complained about broken waffle maker) served its purpose.

The breakfast served was awful. The bagels and sweet rolls were hard. The fried eggs were very unappealing, and the fruit was not ripe enough to eat. The best part of the breakfast was the coffee. The updated lobby was nice but the rooms still need some work.

Only complaint was the sloppy maid service. I come back and the maid had just tossed up the comforter instead of making the bed. And only refreshed 1/2 the towels. The hallways have brown duck tape on the carpet I guess to keep the seams together. But it’s clear they are remodeling so I expect that will get cleared up. You can tell in the rooms it’s been a long time since it’s gotten a refresh. So many dings and marks on the walls and ceiling. The rooms are large and when I checked in my room was clean. Breakfast the first day was amazing. Second day no yogurt, hardly any milk, l guess Sunday workers do not put much out. But the area was clean. I was there on business so in and out. I would stay again.

It was an average hotel. Our initial room smelled like weed, but we were immediately given a better room a few doors down so we were grateful. The man responsible for the buffet breakfast was fantastic. He was friendly, helpful and eager to ensure we had everything available to us. It was great to see someone take such pride in the work he does. I wish I had noted his name to recognize him personally here. Thank you.

We were traveling for sports and our team picked this hotel because of the location, pool and breakfast. I tried to sign up for the rewards program when I checked in, but the front desk said they were unable to help at that time. When we got up to our room, our carpets looked like somebody had walked through with wet feet. They were dark and soiled. After speaking with other teammates, this seemed pretty common throughout the hotel. Another teammate was told that they weren’t able to switch rooms because they were pretty much sold out.The pool was clean and the kids had a good time swimming. It was very cold! Breakfast had the potential to be awesome and we really looked forward to the advertised cinnamon rolls. Breakfast went until 10 in the morning and by 815 they were out of a lot of the breakfast food. Staff informed us that they were “cleaned out early!“ And there was no intention of making More. Several disappointed kids (and parents) resulting in us having to go out to breakfast and spend a lot more money. It would have been understandable if we arrived 15 minutes prior to it closing. One of the perks of traveling is being able to sleep in and not have to worry about making breakfast if you pick the right hotel. We didn’t get to sleep in and we missed out on a good breakfast. Overall, it served its purpose for housing the team, but Not likely to stay again.
