Set within the six-acre private grounds of The Barn (a historic estate dating back to 1857), the cabin has been lovingly designed and built as a personal project before opening its doors to guests. History & Setting The Barn, which sits adjacent to the Log Cabin, has a storied past. Built in 1857 as part of a working farm, it played an essential role in the local community for generations, supplying milk and meat to County Durham and beyond. In 2007, we (Paul & Claire) became its proud owners. Over the years, we restored and modernised The Barn while keeping its historic essence alive. In 2023, we built the Log Cabin—sourced directly from Finland and handcrafted on-site—adding a new chapter to the estate's rich legacy. We live in The Barn and are on hand for anything you need but fully respect your privacy during your stay. Please use the shoe trays provided and remove shoes on carpeted areas.
