Quality Inn & Suites Capitola By the Sea

Good location, only minutes from town. Room was nice. Only critique was there was no elevator and we had to lug a heavy suitcase up the steps.

The property is older and rather quirky, but it is in a quiet area with a nice grocery store and bakery within walking distance. The rooms are large and clean and the staff is helpful and friendly. The outdoor pool is small but heated. The breakfast is ok. No protein, but nice waffles. We will come back.

I was very happy with the property. The room was clean and in good condition and the bed was very comfortable. I really enjoyed the area with plenty of shopping options and it was only a pleasant 20 min walk to the beach where there was numerous restaurants and shops. The pool was amazing too and the water nice and warm.

we thought this facility was pretty much what we expected. It was clean. The pool temperature was not conducive for an average swimmer (which I am not - I swim regularly and our pools are usually at 84 for lap swimming and 89 for aerobic exercise. This pool was 80 which was pretty chilly and I did not see anyone else in the pool so I skipped it. Otherwise it was okay.

Great location, very clean, comfortable. Breakfast was ok mostly sweets and starches. I feel the price was a little high for the place but the location is fantastic. Couldn’t use the pool but looked very clean. Staff was very friendly.

Rooms were nice, however there isn't an elevator to the second floor. If you don't want to take your luggage up a flight of stairs, you should ask for a room on the first floor.

King room good size, bed OK, has a tiny terrace/deck, split between adjacent rooms. Wifi not secure, no https connection. Trick shower wouldn't spray, no pull knob or valve? Way too many rooms crammed into the space. The pool is just a splash pool, small and triangular.

Nice staff. Clean room. Easy parking. Will definitely stay here again.

Check in and out was super simple and staff helpful. Only issues we had were WIFI wasnt connecting and toilet seat was extremely loose. Pool was said to be heated but was not. Kids didnt mind but us parenta had to suffer it. Lol all things aside. We always stay here so we will be back.

Great location and the night staff was very warm and friendly, but the parking lot had huge pot holes, the rooms were dingy, clean enough, but some suspect drips on the mirror. For the price they could stand to upgrade the rooms and landscaping beyond the fresh paint on the exterior. Still way better than most of the motels in town. I would stay again in a pinch, but not a destination.

Room smelled like mildew. Not good

Mold in bathroom. Old buildings that still smell like cigarette smoke. Not close to anything. The only saving grace is the staff .. super kind and helpful.

Stayed one night only, saw cockroaches in bathroom, shower water was rust colored when turned on, night stand drawer handle was hanging loose due to missing screw, had to use outside stairs carrying our luggage to access our second floor room (no elevators). Couldn’t report these conditions due to hotel office sign advising hotel office closed until 7:30am as we had to check out of hotel at 6:30am. We were not pleased with this hotel.

The room was as advertised...clean, comfotable, and welcoming!

Room had very strong cigarette odor, it was a non-smoking room. Made my stay unpleasant.

I needed to put food in the fridge and there were ants in there. So, I went and let the front desk know and they moved us to a different room. When we opened the fridge in the second room there was mold in it.

We had friendly staff and easy check in and out. The room was clean and comfy, very quiet even with the highway just outside.

Just what I needed after attending a 3-day conference: cleanliness, very comfortable bed, comfy lounge chair with ottoman, balcony with views of nature and very quiet. I would stay here again!

Bed were comfy, two queen room was huge, all rooms had a patio which was nice but the chairs were wet and our upstairs neighbor hung their clothes on the railing which caused the floor to be wet. But it was perfect for an over might stop!

room was spacious, bed was large and comfortable with quality sheets. the room was very quiet, practically no outside noise for my 5 days stay. hotel looked fairly new, or recently updated. wifi was mostly working, with one outage for a few hours. staff are friendly and helpful. included breakfast is pretty basic, i usually skipped it and went to the peets across the road. good stay, i'd recommend.

Walls are thin. Got two noise complaints when I had just moved things into my room, only being there for 15 minutes. Manager was kind of rude but nice the next day. Threatened to kick me out on Christmas Eve due to being able to hear me from the lobby. Said all rooms were booked when they weren’t just to scare me.

Upon arrival the parking lot was completely empty and appeared very outdated/weathered. We were wondering if we were arriving at an abandoned location. Upon check-in the clerk was just business, no warmth at all. The reservation was for two people but as I was leaving the lobby I noticed she'd only given me one key. I returned to the desk and asked for a second. She immediately reached down and handed me a second (was it already programmed for our room?). Upon arrival at the room, only the first key I'd received worked. Back to the desk. The room had an odor. The sliding door (ground floor with patio) was unlocked, which we didn't notice until the next day. The room was just mediocre, outdated, the lighting was poor. The TV was decent with streaming options but while watching movies on Netflicks it would have to stop to buffer about every 10-12 minutes sometimes much shorter. The WiFi was weak so I figure they have a subpar network causing both issues. The microwave was missing its front feet so was at an angle about 1" higher in the rear. The linens and towels were clean. The shower had instant hot water with good pressure. On that topic whenever another room used the toilet or shower the sound of water resonated. This hotel is in a good location and has a nice layout, but is in need of a good refresh.

Very difficult to sleep. Upper room was very loud. Guests yelling in the hallway. Will not go back.

Very nice place however, the internet was pre 1980s! When we first arrived, we got no service. Later, we were told the facility had an upgrade. It was a 1-800 fix it yourself. We used it but it was barely any better. Most of the time it came up as unsecured. I think the management must have upgraded to the cheapest version possible. If not for this, we would return. As it is, we will not return.

Our third stay at this Quality Inn. Love the location! Near the freeway and Capitola Village. Bare bones but comfortable room. Waffle breakfast was decent. Pool area is nice but chairs are not too comfortable. Drawback is very loud AC in the room. It woke me up often and rattled while on. Traffic from freeway is loud if you are in the higher level rooms. The price is good for this property. Good value for the price.

Management was extremely rude unprofessional and just unkind. The man accused me of trying to pull something when I asked for some time to check out as I arrived at the hotel at about or past midnight and I needed more time to wake up. He then proceeded to blacklist me from the hotel and I honestly would like my money back because the experience was so bad I'd rather stay in my car as uncomfortable as that may be. I also left a jacket behind with my medication in the pocket and have not gone back to request it or to check if it was in Lost and found because I'm afraid of how this person will behave

The amenities in the room are great- microwave, fridge . The size of the room is huge and modern. Each room has a private little balcony great to have a drink or meet a fellow traveler. (my sister and I stayed there and met a great lady just across the way from us and we had a lovely chat) Our check-in experience was outstanding!!! A shout out to Alex who was so warm and welcoming- answered all of my questions and very accommodating. Her level of professionalism and hospitality was at such an elevated level. She’s a gem!!

Overall, ok. Bed and room were comfortable and clean. Front desk staff were very pleasant and kind. The value for price paid was lacking (to be fair, I think it was just our particular weekend that had inflated rates, as they were normally far lower). During a 4 night stay, room service only tossed in some extra towels and toilet paper once (and we had to go ask for more before they came) The room was never cleaned during our stay, though they advertised housekeeping would come every other day.

I stayed for two nights the second day after coming back from working hard I expected clean sheets on my bed and clean towels in the bathroom, but that did not happen. I had to go get towels from the front office and coffee for my room for the next morning, which would’ve been my last day there. I was informed that I would have to stay at least three full nights in order to get any kind of made service whatsoever so if you’re going for two nights, you better make sure you have enough towels and enough coffee in your room because you will not get made service. Very disappointed with that. If I would’ve had made service, the scores would’ve been a lot better.

Hotel was nice, the gal at the desk was very friendly and helpful. Had issue with the TV and she came to our room and fixed it...simple cable switch.

Staff seems don’t know how to manage changes to reservations. I booked three rooms and stated that each room occupants were to pay their stay with their credit cards. Before we arrived they charged me for the three rooms. When we got there and requested to change the cards they said that they would do it at check out. On check out day they charged the other people for their rooms but stated that the credit to my credit card would take a couple of days. Now three days later I don’t see a credit on my card and I can not communicate with anyone I keep getting disconnected when I chose to talk to a live person.

We had friendly staff and easy check in and out. The room was clean and comfy, very quiet even with the highway just outside.

Walkable to beach

I've stayed here 3 times now and you cannot beat this hotel. The location is great right off of hwy 1 close to shopping the beach etc.

Property was located on a hill and for handicap people it was hard to walk

Staffs are very nice. Environment is very clean, quiet (this is a plus because it’s actually very close to highway but without any traffic noise), and room is big. I really like the room setting with plenty of common areas among rooms such that you don’t worry about having a noisy neighbour. Location is very convenient with laundry mart nearby, pharmacy and supermarket just across street. It is also very close to highway entrance so you can get to anywhere easily.

Everyone was very friendly and the room is comfortable. It is a good choice for people who want to explore Capitola. It is about 1 mile to downtown Capitola with the beach and many great restaurants to enjoy.

The location was convenient and easy to get to Capitola.

Convenient to what we wanted in Capitola with out the cramped parking and noise of downtown. We are mobile but elderly and were able to walk down to the beach area for an early dinner and back.

It’s surprisingly quiet even though it’s close to the highway. It’s an easy walk to the beach and food options. The “continental” breakfast needs to be upgraded with some protein options. It’s very basic.

Basic hotel that offers a minimal low quality breakfast. Rooms are reasonably sized but overall the hotel is overpriced for what it offers. Even the coffee is bland and watery.

I received a courtesy call around 9:35pm the night I was Staying to tell me the doors would be locked at 10pm. I have Never received a call before at any hotel I have Stayed at, so it was a bit shocking. I informed them that I would be there a little later and was told to access the night door. Upon arrival, the courtesy clerk took me inside so I can sign the documents/get the keys. There was no access to the room from inside the hotel lobby, I had to go around and up some stairs to get to an unlocked door. When I got Into the room, I could Immediately tell that this was an older hotel that was in need of some tlc, however it was quiet and fairly clean. The next morning, I sent the family to get some breakfast while I loaded the car. The kitchen staff acted similarly to security ensuring no one was taking too many of one item. Mind you this “continental” breakfast had No hot food. It was some pastries, a waffle machine and a little bit of apples/oranges. Overall, I was disappointed for the price and the misleading photos indicating this was a great hotel. It was not BAD but it certainly won’t warrant a return trip for my family and I .

Stayed at other quality Inn that offer Continental breakfast with a little better variety though. The waffles were ok but others offered a breakfast sandwich or breakfast burritos usually plus, oatmeal, toast,bagels w/ cream cheese on top of the muffins and danishes and cereal too.

It was good and we would stay again. No healthy breakfast options though

The property is just ok at best. Room was ok, barely. Towels are thin and barely enough. There is a small fridge and micro which was nice. Breakfast was the worst I have seen. 2 types of cereal, a few yogurts, and make your own waffles. Coffee was Awful! Not worth $500 for two nights.
