From myths associated with Ancient Greek gods and heroes to tales of conquerors, such as Venetians and Turks, to the city becoming the first capital of Greece in 1829 after the country's liberation from Ottoman occupation, the history of Nafplio is written all over sun-drenched ruins, mighty fortress walls and beautiful neoclassical mansions.
