Parking was good, staff very pleasant. The room was tired but adequate. The room was near the boiler room and it sounded like helicopter was outside all night so we had a terrible sleep. Do not stay in number 29 or anywhere near this part of the hotel.

Very convenient for town centre, with free parking. It is an old building and the layout reflects this. Narrow staircases, no lift, I struggled with a case and bag. Room ok, shower over bath, bed comfortable enough. Overall, stay ok and reasonable value.

There is no lift to upper floor rooms. The main access is via a steep spiral staircase that can present a hazzard for the elderly and infirm with luggage to carry.

Good points: Staff were very friendly and helpful. Not so good points: The only window in the bedroom was secured so it could only be opened by 4-5 inches. Had to leave the fan on at all times - noise made sleeping difficult. Hot water was dangerously hot. Water from the cold tap was affected by hot water from the mixer tap. Tea cups were dirty on arrival.

Overall I found the White Hart excellent value for money. It's a dated property, but the room had been painted and the bathroom spruced up not long ago, so it was neat and clean. The parking area/entrance was a bit cramped and could do with some sprucing up. The breakfast was great value for a cooked breakfast and continental selection, and the cinnamon bun was delicious!

Good location and friendly staff, but we were glad we only stopped for one night! It didn’t feel particularly clean. There was a knotted collection of hair on one of our pillows, the room had a really odd odour, and with the room on the first floor facing out onto the main road / pavement there wasn’t much privacy. Room 6 could definitely do with a net curtain as well as the main curtains. We had the window open to keep the room cool but with the breeze blowing the curtains, it did feel like there was a lack of privacy, and felt a bit exposed to the street / main road. We chose this hotel as it was the cheapest, decent looking place in the area, but we’d have been better off paying £20 or so more for one of the other hotels unfortunately.

Another good stay here, breakfast is OK bar of an evening is typically busy. Room was a bit tired and could do with a bit of a refurbishment other wise it’s a well positioned place to spend the weekend

Nice hotel, in the middle of Braintree. Check in was easy, room was a hike, especially after a knee replacement but it was neat and tidy albeit dated in furnishings and being on the top floor which was quite hot. Restaurant and bar were as expected, food was really tasty , staff attentive and polite. Shame the cost was not B&B for the price paid, but all round a nice, easy stay.

I had a great stay at the white horse. I was made to feel very welcome and the room was of a good size. I had a really good sleep in the comfortable bed and would definitely return. I can’t believe how little I paid for such a great experience. I’ve paid double the amount and not had such a nice room. I really think they are selling their rooms at too cheap a price!

Great adequate room. Lovely rain shower. Good large tv. The establishment was short staffed everywhere although those on duty were constantly apologetic and certainly exceeded in customer service. Well done everyone.

Superior room was far from. Floor out of level despite age. Towel rad in bathroom didnt work & freezing. Didn't get fixed & lied to by Manager twice about handyman coming to fix it.Lunch was poor. Dried up mash & soggy broccoli

Bit of a palaver at check-in when they thought initially I hadn’t paid, but soon sorted out. Good bar staff and food, and breakfast was cooked skilfully and hot. More confusion over my breakfast being included in my price, which again was sorted but special mention to Monique at breakfast service who is clearly a credit to Greene King, not only sorting my issues but also imparting good information on the surrounding area.

Overall it was absolutely fine. The reason I down scored on the service was to do with an issue I had. The bathroom was freezing cold so I asked about how to turn the heated towel rail on. The answer I got was “don’t know, do t think it’s ever worked” so I asked if there was anybody that could have a look and was simply told nobody was working.

Really nice hotel, lovely staff in a beautiful town. However i think if you arrive 90 mins before check in and your room is ready £20 is a tad steep. So after returning from day out manager had to leave busy bar to help with luggage which was in his office. Surely if she had just given me the available room, this could have been avoided. I would have paid £10 like Travelodge up the road. Never £20.

Stayed here before ideal location for Braintree town centre with its many good pubs and restaurants. The bar is always busy and the restaurant is usually well attended

Property was lovely easy walk into town perfect for station. Staff were excellent friendly helpful funny and kind. My only complaint would be the noise of the pipe works where the radiotors need bleeding i wish id bought my tools could of fixed the problem lol. But overall id defo stay here again and was inpressed with food. Thank you

Very convenient for town centre, with free parking. It is an old building and the layout reflects this. Narrow staircases, no lift, I struggled with a case and bag. Room ok, shower over bath, bed comfortable enough. Overall, stay ok and reasonable value.

Nice hotel, in the middle of Braintree. Check in was easy, room was a hike, especially after a knee replacement but it was neat and tidy albeit dated in furnishings and being on the top floor which was quite hot. Restaurant and bar were as expected, food was really tasty , staff attentive and polite. Shame the cost was not B&B for the price paid, but all round a nice, easy stay.

The Hotel was ideal for our needs, roughly 10/12 minutes from Railway Station, Shops close by, quiet and a comfortable stay, would stop here again.

I arrived on Sunday after a lot of driving. I thank the manager whom I asked if they did Lasagne, she said yes and kindly put the order through to the chef, which was a good job as they were a chef down and had to close the kitchen early. Breakfast was lovely on both mornings. Although again on Mon night the restaurant closed at 7pm due to only having 1 chef. I went across the road to Mezze, the food was lovely :-). Cant fault the staff and my room was lovely and bright and very clean. Would definitely stay again. :-)

The food was awful. I ordered a steak which arrived covered in black pepper and tough. Had a full English breakfast. Which i couldn't eat. I would it had been cooked at least an hour beforehr

Overall I found the White Hart excellent value for money. It's a dated property, but the room had been painted and the bathroom spruced up not long ago, so it was neat and clean. The parking area/entrance was a bit cramped and could do with some sprucing up. The breakfast was great value for a cooked breakfast and continental selection, and the cinnamon bun was delicious!

Bit of a palaver at check-in when they thought initially I hadn’t paid, but soon sorted out. Good bar staff and food, and breakfast was cooked skilfully and hot. More confusion over my breakfast being included in my price, which again was sorted but special mention to Monique at breakfast service who is clearly a credit to Greene King, not only sorting my issues but also imparting good information on the surrounding area.

Had a nice night spent at the hotel, only let down by a couple of things having to leave the bar as glass wwasher broke down, getting my bar bill wrong and when i asked for orange juice at breakfast got told no more available

My room was very small and bed not very comfortable. The worst thing about my stay was the housekeeping, on my 3rd day my room wasn't cleaned at all dirty towels left on bathroom floor, bed not made and bin not emptied. After i complained they promised everything would be ok but on my return next day the bathroom sink still hadn't been cleaned for 2 days. I complained again to the manager and was told i would be refunded 2 nights accommodation but haven't received anything yet

The room was above a very busy pub, that had a lot of noise though-out the evenings until very late. Including what felt like a club night, with drunk arguing people oustide your window. The room itself was good and well equipped.

There was parking alongside the hotel, the reception wasn't manned so had to find someone to check us in, she was very helpful. The room was pretty tired, tv broken, tired furnite & single pane windows that didn't keep the noise or breeze out. Bed was comfortable enough & bathroom functional. We didn't book breakfast so no comment on that. Average but price reflected that

Loved how close this location was to the city center! Very easily within walking distance of about all that you would want to do in Braintree (aside from the outlet mall on the edge of town). The continental breakfast; however, was a little lacking. Nothing very substantial included in it, mostly just pastries and cereal. The hotel is also in an older building, so lots of up and down and doors to navigate through, so this may be an issue if you struggle with mobility. Great stay overall and incredibly fair for the price!
