We spent a pleasant night here with a very spacious room and comfortable bed, although the bathroom felt a touch old-fashioned. Our evening meals, in the bar, were OK, nothing special, although service was quite slow, and for some reason we couldn’t use a Greene King drink voucher despite it being a Greene King pub ! Breakfast selection the following morning was good and the smoked salmon and scrambled egg, freshly cooked from the hot menu, was excellent. Parking is in a courtyard behind the hotel and although we were able to use it space seemed quite tight.

Good staff ,friendly and helpful . Lovely historic hotel with bar , 2 restaurants & lounge . Nice food and reasonably priced food & drink . Lovely courtyard area to sit in . Brrakfast was very nice with good quality ingredients. Bedrooms are decent size , comfy bed BUT the HEAT the bedrooms is terrible, like walking into a sauna . The fan did nothing to help , we couldn't sleep and loads of other people were moaning about the heat rooms too . Something needs to be done about it . Apart from that it was a good stay .

Beautiful hotel with an amazing history. Upon arrival we received a very warm welcome, the staff were exceptionally friendly and very helpful throughout. Our room was prepared by Lindsay, Jo & Sally and they did a remarkable job it was immaculate. Extremely comfortable king size bed and the shower was fab, superb water pressure. Great bar area to relax in before dining and the breakfast choice catered for everyone. Thank you for a wonderful stay and most certainly we will be back.

We stayed in the Melford Suite which was very comfortable and full of character. The staff were excellent, all very helpful and cheerful. Free parking is a big plus. The breakfast was delicious and so big we didn't need to eat again until the evening! Overall we were very happy and satisfied with our visit.

Staff are very friendly, food is very good and reasonably priced. The building is lovely and full of character, however the rooms are simply decorated. The location is excellent. Unfortunately, there were no parking spaces when we arrived in the afternoon so we had to park down the street, but parking is free in Long Melford so this wasn't a problem.

We booked a double room.but when we arrived they had let our room out and gave us a twin room so i complained and they added free breskfast & drinks so we were fine . The room was large The beds were made into a double & was large & comfortable, room had iron & iron board , safe , fan , good tea tray & a seating area . Room could do with a refurb but was clean & comfortable. The food at the hotel is amazing , the best roast dinner ive had in ages . Breakfast was very good too with high quality food and loads of choice . The staff were all very friendly . There is a lovely restaurant, great bar area where you can eat too and a comfortable lounge . The hotel is beautiful inside , very historic . We had a great stay and looking forward to going back to stay . Already recommended to friends .

Firstly the staff were wonderful! Really friendly and accommodating. The room: First glance was beautiful and spacious! The bed wasn’t the most comfortable and also it was very noisy from other rooms. The doors are old and have clunky closing mechanisms the bathroom doors are particularly noisy so we woke up through the night when next door needed to pee! The bathroom struggled for hot water quite often (usually at busier periods) but the bath plug didn’t fit well so as a bath person it drained pretty quickly while you were in it! Cleanliness: The bathroom tiles were pretty dirty in the grout and they are old tiles so has had a few regrouting attempts. Nothing a bit of astonish spray wouldn’t fix but the rusting of the metalwork in there is getting fairly brutal! The amenities were a little sad in there and were not what I would expect. The sheets in the room had marks on but they had been changed so I would maybe speak to their linen providers if I was them! One of my pillows had a cream tinge through the case and I dared not look. All in all a nice place but needs some TLC I’ve stayed in some extremely old places historically and appreciated the charm but small things like fixing a cracked glass pane in the window would maybe help things feel a little more loved!

Had an issue where I had booked the wrong day and it was a sensitive time with travelling for a funeral. The hotel manager was very understanding and even upgraded my room and provided a hot breakfast also..Amazing customer service, room was clean and a good size, would come again.

Great food in the evening. Breakfast experience less so, just not great with the cleaner hoovering around you at 7am. Breakfast order not offered for ten minutes. Room I was in was incredibly noisy from the bar till 11pm and then from 4am with traffic noise. Staff great, room clean and warm, and as I said good food.

This hotel is 15th Century. Absolutely gorgeous. Staff friendly and helpful. Cleanliness was excellent. Food great Enjoyed it so much going back next week.

Room was clean but situated next to the road which was busy. The breakfast was served cold and not very tasty. However the sunday lunch was excellent and served on a hot plate. Staff in the bar friendly and approachable. The atea of Long Melford has plenty to see and do thus the hotel is an ideal spot to stay.

The staff were uniformly very helpful. The food was good enough, but not excellent. The room, in the newer part of the building, would've been fine, but we stayed during hot weather and the room was hell at night, even with the windows fully open 👿 Just awful; really, really horrible. I guess the window catches the sun in the afternoon and evening, but we couldn't get to sleep until five in the morning the room temperature just didn't drop. A fan, with moving louvre, was provided, but it didn't do much to alleviate the insane oven effect. Top quality insulation apparently 😆 I'd happily stay at another time of year, but never again in hot weather. Avoid if temperatures are >27°C in the afternoon in June. A minor niggle: the shower is constrained to the width of the narrow bath, and felt cramped.

The staff without exception were excellent. The rooms are comfortable and adequately equipped. The room allocated was suffered from traffic noises from the front and side but the staff very quickly arranged a transfer to an alternative. This was better but we again had to mention the repeated banging, below us, of what turned out to be one of the kitchen service doors. This was ommediately addressed, spoon wedged under it. The bathrooms are quite dated with older style sanitaryware and shower controls. Not thermostatically controlled. Would we stay again, probably not although I would reiterate, staff and service were excellent.

Check in was easy and friendly member of staff. Room was like an oven with no way to turn off radiator. Window only cracked open. Noise throughout night with a possible freezer kicking on and off. Bathroom door did not close. Evening restaurant bar staff terrible I ended up walking to the crown for food and a drink where service and staff were excellent.

We had a nice, cosy and quiet night’s sleep. The room is lovely, the bathroom is a little dated. There are loads of delicious breakfast options. Not the hotel’s fault, but we mad major issues arranging a taxi to the event we were attending, so if you need a taxi I recommend booking well in advance rather than on the day. We used a taxi company called ‘The Firm’ and they were excellent, even though they couldn’t drop us off (and we had to take our car) they picked us up from the event and took us back in the morning to collect our car.

Parking is in a courtyard behind the hotel and although we were able to use it space seemed quite tight.
We spent a pleasant night here with a very spacious room and comfortable bed, although the bathroom felt a touch old-fashioned. Our evening meals, in the bar, were OK, nothing special, although service was quite slow, and for some reason we couldn’t use a Greene King drink voucher despite it being a Greene King pub ! Breakfast selection the following morning was good and the smoked salmon and scrambled egg, freshly cooked from the hot menu, was excellent. The staff without exception were excellent. The rooms are comfortable and adequately equipped. The room allocated was suffered from traffic noises from the front and side but the staff very quickly arranged a transfer to an alternative. This was better but we again had to mention the repeated banging, below us, of what turned out to be one of the kitchen service doors. This was ommediately addressed, spoon wedged under it. The bathrooms are quite dated with older style sanitaryware and shower controls. Not thermostatically controlled. Would we stay again, probably not although I would reiterate, staff and service were excellent.

Had an issue where I had booked the wrong day and it was a sensitive time with travelling for a funeral. The hotel manager was very understanding and even upgraded my room and provided a hot breakfast also..Amazing customer service, room was clean and a good size, would come again.

Beautiful hotel with an amazing history. Upon arrival we received a very warm welcome, the staff were exceptionally friendly and very helpful throughout. Our room was prepared by Lindsay, Jo & Sally and they did a remarkable job it was immaculate. Extremely comfortable king size bed and the shower was fab, superb water pressure. Great bar area to relax in before dining and the breakfast choice catered for everyone. Thank you for a wonderful stay and most certainly we will be back.

Check in was easy and friendly member of staff. Room was like an oven with no way to turn off radiator. Window only cracked open. Noise throughout night with a possible freezer kicking on and off. Bathroom door did not close. Evening restaurant bar staff terrible I ended up walking to the crown for food and a drink where service and staff were excellent.

Room was clean but situated next to the road which was busy. The breakfast was served cold and not very tasty. However the sunday lunch was excellent and served on a hot plate. Staff in the bar friendly and approachable. The atea of Long Melford has plenty to see and do thus the hotel is an ideal spot to stay.

We had a nice, cosy and quiet night’s sleep. The room is lovely, the bathroom is a little dated. There are loads of delicious breakfast options. Not the hotel’s fault, but we mad major issues arranging a taxi to the event we were attending, so if you need a taxi I recommend booking well in advance rather than on the day. We used a taxi company called ‘The Firm’ and they were excellent, even though they couldn’t drop us off (and we had to take our car) they picked us up from the event and took us back in the morning to collect our car.

Staff are very friendly, food is very good and reasonably priced. The building is lovely and full of character, however the rooms are simply decorated. The location is excellent. Unfortunately, there were no parking spaces when we arrived in the afternoon so we had to park down the street, but parking is free in Long Melford so this wasn't a problem.

Great food in the evening. Breakfast experience less so, just not great with the cleaner hoovering around you at 7am. Breakfast order not offered for ten minutes. Room I was in was incredibly noisy from the bar till 11pm and then from 4am with traffic noise. Staff great, room clean and warm, and as I said good food.

We booked a double room.but when we arrived they had let our room out and gave us a twin room so i complained and they added free breskfast & drinks so we were fine . The room was large The beds were made into a double & was large & comfortable, room had iron & iron board , safe , fan , good tea tray & a seating area . Room could do with a refurb but was clean & comfortable. The food at the hotel is amazing , the best roast dinner ive had in ages . Breakfast was very good too with high quality food and loads of choice . The staff were all very friendly . There is a lovely restaurant, great bar area where you can eat too and a comfortable lounge . The hotel is beautiful inside , very historic . We had a great stay and looking forward to going back to stay . Already recommended to friends .

The Bull does the job. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was very basic and only had the essential soap/hair wash all in one - no body moisturiser. Sunday breakfast didn’t start until 8 and as we needed to depart early we were at least able to have a continental breakfast before they officially opened which was satisfactory.

A decent enough room for the price. The only issues were a very noisy radiator in the room that woke me several times and very disappointing shower - hardly any water coming from the shower head. Other than that it’s a very historic hotel with character and in a lovely location.

Had a lovely stay at the Bull. We arrived early but the chap on reception let us check in early as the room was ready. The room was lovely with plenty of old world character, a comfy bed and a fantastic powerful and easy to set shower. The breakfast was very fine quality. I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on sourdough which was delicious. You can also help yourself to cereals, toast and pastries and teas, coffee and juice. I would definitely stay here again.
