Had a lovely stay at Swan Hotel, lovely view but windows could do with a wash. Pleasant and friendly staff. Disappointed in pool area of hotel, sauna out of order and steam room not working properly. One of the reasons why we decided to stay at this hotel was the leisure facilities. The spa at the end of hotel was a 2 hour experience and it seemed you had to book this, I'd rather come and go as I pleased. It was a special couple of days away for my 70th Birthday so a wee bit gutted it did not come up to expectations.

Couldn't fault a thing. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms with everything you need, hair dryer, iron (and board), tea making facilities, etc.. Restaurant and breakfast food all amazing, cater for all dietary requirements with a varied range. Great facilities, we enjoyed the pool/sauna/steam room, gym and playing pool. Can't rate the spa as unfortunately we were too late making bookings but goes to show how good it must be, snooze you lose, lol, but will definitely be booking again. Nothing was too much for the staff who were all friendly and helpful. Location/area was great, plenty of parking. Great location for visiting surrounding areas, walks attractions, etc. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately not good value for money. Hotel pool and facilities were tired and not clean. Room's air con didnt work and fans werent provided. Restaurant food was nice but expensive for what it was.

Lovely property. Very nice rooms and spa was good. Food excellent but due to being very busy there was quite a wait for food and drinks: 30 minutes. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast choices were excellent.

Just got home really upset. Saved up to take my mum as a special treat. We arrived and checked into our “lovely room”. There is nothing lovely about this room. It was filthy. I was embarrassed to take my mum. I’m not one to complain and feel awkward in doing so so didn’t say anything. Had we been asked how everything was then I would’ve said but we weren’t even asked on checking out how we found everything. First the room was shocking , drafty and in desperate need of a full makeover. It’s tired, paint chipping, dirty marks all over, really grubby heavily stained carpet. Filthy radiator, who knows what we were breathing in from it. Heavily marked area where the tea and coffee pot were. No slippers, robes or bottled water as advertised . Windows were like a health hazard, black mould, really cold draft coming through, heavily disguised with shutters. We went to the spa, same again, dirty. Foam scum in the pool. Used cups, food containers and plastic glasses littered everywhere, on tables, around the pool, outside, towels everywhere. We were in there for 2hrs and they were still there when we left! Restaurant food was ok but expensive. The waiter was very nice. He was the best thing about it. The hotel was cold and drafty. My mum gets cold so he sat us at “the warmest table” in the restaurant as it was next to a radiator…this wasn’t on! The fires were out in the evening. We had to go back up and put an extra layer on to sit in the bar area as it was that drafty.

Staff very friendly, helpful etc even though I believe the hotel was full so very busy. Service slightly extended because of this but quite understandable. Enjoyed the use of the indoor pool which was quiet. Food in the restaurant better than the pub menu, had delicious pork chop. Plenty of car parking and two electric chargers which was useful for our needs. Our grandson aged 7 loved it and said he felt really happy in this hotel, so, basically thats all that matters to us.

We chose this hotel as it was promoted as dog friendly and we were visiting the area for hikes with our pup. Overall we enjoyed our stay. We thought the food in the restaurant was really great - especially the Sunday roast! Parking was included which was great, and there's a really nice trail right from the property that was perfect for morning strolls. The staff were very friendly and the room was spacious and nice. We did feel that overall the establishment was understaffed and it led to a subpar experience in some ways. We were constantly left waiting in the restaurant for orders to be taken and things were forgotten on numerous occasions. At the spa, they let way too many people in and it was overcrowded, loud and not relaxing. There wasn't even a spot on the wall to lean on in the hot tubs. This was a bit disappointing as its a lovely spa and has so much potential. Only sharing this feedback in hopes some small changes could be made to bring the hotel up to it's full potential!

The staff were very accommodating and very pleasant. There were no bottles of water in the rooms and when we asked why not, we got told that it is no longer provided. The floors in the ladies and gents changing rooms were very dirty and it hadnt been cleaned for quite sometime. There were no shampoos or body wash in the male changing rooms and there was no one to attend to the floor safety around the pool as there were a lot of water and very slippery. No drinking water was provided in the water machines. When this was mentioned to the staff, we got told that the hotel had to cut down in the cost and yet the prices of the rooms had increased greatly, including the prices of the foods and drinks at the bar and the restaurant. It is a shame to see that the standard had dropped a lot despite the huge increase in the cost.

Stayed in a pet friendly room (109), didn’t expect it to be perfect. The room: TV was damaged / dark in the middle not working properly. Walls and skirting boards were dirty, cobwebs all around the ceiling. Bathroom floor was dirty. Furniture was in need of a decent clean where pets had clearly been on them despite this being banned on the welcome note. I understand we booked a pet friendly room but it appeared basic cleaning had not been completed. We had an adjoining door and enjoyed being part of our neighbours conversation all night. Got a knock in the morning from staff asking if we’d checked out yet?? The Swan Inn: No evening meal available for a gluten free vegetarian and a lack of menu/allergen knowledge from staff, ordered salad and chips but had a reaction to gluten. Table service poor - ignored when we first arrived and took 20+ minutes to get 2 drinks. Staff missed starters on the table next to us and gave someone an alcoholic drink when they asked for 0%. Breakfast took 45 minutes from ordering to arrive and was mostly cold. Had to wait 20 minutes again for a pot of tea, table next to us gave up waiting for their coffee. Spa - only got use of the health club and not to spa pictured when booking. Couldn’t access showers in the changing room as a maintenance guy was in them, sauna had litter in it, steam room not so steamy, swimwear dryer didn’t work. It was an amazing stay the staff were just incredible outstanding in fact very friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble, the hotel was spotless the food was great definitely a 5 stars from me

We’ve been to the Swan a few times over the past few years. It’s a real shame to see such a nice hotel be neglected. It is in dire need of a refurb. Peeling wall paper in the bar area, mold on the bedrooms and restaurant, hall lights not working. We were so disappointed, especially as they market themselves as a high-end hotel

Just got home really upset. Saved up to take my mum as a special treat. We arrived and checked into our “lovely room”. There is nothing lovely about this room. It was filthy. I was embarrassed to take my mum. I’m not one to complain and feel awkward in doing so so didn’t say anything. Had we been asked how everything was then I would’ve said but we weren’t even asked on checking out how we found everything. First the room was shocking , drafty and in desperate need of a full makeover. It’s tired, paint chipping, dirty marks all over, really grubby heavily stained carpet. Filthy radiator, who knows what we were breathing in from it. Heavily marked area where the tea and coffee pot were. No slippers, robes or bottled water as advertised . Windows were like a health hazard, black mould, really cold draft coming through, heavily disguised with shutters. We went to the spa, same again, dirty. Foam scum in the pool. Used cups, food containers and plastic glasses littered everywhere, on tables, around the pool, outside, towels everywhere. We were in there for 2hrs and they were still there when we left! Restaurant food was ok but expensive. The waiter was very nice. He was the best thing about it. The hotel was cold and drafty. My mum gets cold so he sat us at “the warmest table” in the restaurant as it was next to a radiator…this wasn’t on! The fires were out in the evening. We had to go back up and put an extra layer on to sit in the bar area as it was that drafty.

I had high hopes for the hotel given its social media presence but found it in need of a bit of tlc. The food and drink were really overpriced, we waited 45 minutes for breakfast then when asking if all was ok found the order had been lost and there was another 20 minute wait. Staff were not very attentive. Our room was a bit rough around the edges and not the particularly clean the saving grace was the size and comfort of the bed

I was a bit disappointed that the picture of the pool on the website which went outside was only accessible via the spa though. Breakfast was a little chaotic and took us sometime to get our breakfast ordered. Overall this was a great one night stay.

The room was so hot it was unsafe. The air conditioning units have been decomissioned but there is no fans or alternative options to be cool- anf the reception staff really didnt care. The rest of the hotel was lovely and food was great for breakfast.

The worst hotel I never stayed at! Accidentally booked for the wrong date. Contacted the hotel about 3 months in advance to try and change the booking and given an absolute flat ‘no’ despite there still being availability at the correct date. Really poor customer service.

Great location, decent food and good bed. Dissapointed charged an extra £65 for a dog, when selected a pet friendly room via expedia. Customer service was very poor and one staff members attitude was awful. Expected better from a hotel such as the swan. Wont stay again, very stressful experience checking in, not relaxing as it should be.

A little bit dated and our room had quite a few stains on carpet and upholstery. Service at both the evening meal and breakfast was slow and appeared to be a lack of organisation/experince.

Lovely property. Very nice rooms and spa was good. Food excellent but due to being very busy there was quite a wait for food and drinks: 30 minutes. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast choices were excellent.

We chose this hotel as it was promoted as dog friendly and we were visiting the area for hikes with our pup. Overall we enjoyed our stay. We thought the food in the restaurant was really great - especially the Sunday roast! Parking was included which was great, and there's a really nice trail right from the property that was perfect for morning strolls. The staff were very friendly and the room was spacious and nice. We did feel that overall the establishment was understaffed and it led to a subpar experience in some ways. We were constantly left waiting in the restaurant for orders to be taken and things were forgotten on numerous occasions. At the spa, they let way too many people in and it was overcrowded, loud and not relaxing. There wasn't even a spot on the wall to lean on in the hot tubs. This was a bit disappointing as its a lovely spa and has so much potential. Only sharing this feedback in hopes some small changes could be made to bring the hotel up to it's full potential!

Really good stay. The hotel was exceptional - the decor, cleanliness, location and views are first class. Staff were really polite and attentive. Great place to stay in the lakes and we will be returning.

Staff very friendly, helpful etc even though I believe the hotel was full so very busy. Service slightly extended because of this but quite understandable. Enjoyed the use of the indoor pool which was quiet. Food in the restaurant better than the pub menu, had delicious pork chop. Plenty of car parking and two electric chargers which was useful for our needs. Our grandson aged 7 loved it and said he felt really happy in this hotel, so, basically thats all that matters to us.

Stayed in a pet friendly room (109), didn’t expect it to be perfect. The room: TV was damaged / dark in the middle not working properly. Walls and skirting boards were dirty, cobwebs all around the ceiling. Bathroom floor was dirty. Furniture was in need of a decent clean where pets had clearly been on them despite this being banned on the welcome note. I understand we booked a pet friendly room but it appeared basic cleaning had not been completed. We had an adjoining door and enjoyed being part of our neighbours conversation all night. Got a knock in the morning from staff asking if we’d checked out yet?? The Swan Inn: No evening meal available for a gluten free vegetarian and a lack of menu/allergen knowledge from staff, ordered salad and chips but had a reaction to gluten. Table service poor - ignored when we first arrived and took 20+ minutes to get 2 drinks. Staff missed starters on the table next to us and gave someone an alcoholic drink when they asked for 0%. Breakfast took 45 minutes from ordering to arrive and was mostly cold. Had to wait 20 minutes again for a pot of tea, table next to us gave up waiting for their coffee. Spa - only got use of the health club and not to spa pictured when booking. Couldn’t access showers in the changing room as a maintenance guy was in them, sauna had litter in it, steam room not so steamy, swimwear dryer didn’t work. Positives - dog friendly roof over our head in a good location to see the lakes

Beautiful setting and well maintained restaurant and common areas. Breakfast was great! Rooms were very clean - our only complaint is the lack of air conditioning even though there was a unit in the room it wasn’t unusable. It was 30 degrees making the room unbearable. The windows also didn’t open properly and had to be propped open with glasses. Otherwise it was a beautiful hotel and we would stay again.

I took my son and daughter in law away for there wedding anniversary with my two grandaughters… I had a dog friendly room on the first floor which was nice n airy as it was a hot day n night but had the window open … my sons room was on the 1st floor the widows are old each they didn’t have any security on them my 4 year old grandaughter was staying in the room with them I paid for an extra suppliement for a bed for her it was placed under the window… they could not have the window open with a four year old in the room incase she fell out of the window .. it was like a sauna in the room so much so that my daughter in law couldn’t sleep and went home early whilst my son said he had the worst sleep ever .. you maybe need to bear this in mind wen putting small children in rooms on the 1 st and 2 nd floor … it’s a massive health n safety risk … maybe place them on the ground floor instead and definitely don’t put a bed under a each window for a child to climb out of… also the hotel is dog friendly .. there is a spectators bit so I went in there to watch my kids n in pool I sat down … there were other people there then a blonde lady older that the other staff shouted over you can’t come in here with that fog infront of everyone it was embarrassing she could have just come over n discreetly said I’m sorry but no dogs are allowed in this area … Apart from that our stay was amazing staff can not do enough for you.. the place has everything you need we stayed the day padleboarding

Lovely feel/ atmosphere to hotel - nice but not pretentious. Room was ok, bathrooms could have been a bit cleaner as dust and hairs still on floor. Fridge / cooler didn’t work but was fixed when raised and plug socket nowhere near mirror so couldn’t use mirror to dry hair with hairdryer!!! It’s the little details I guess!!! Thermal Spa was nice…basically indoor and outdoor steam, sauna and hydro jacuzzi. For those staying and purchased access via package the access to spa is limited up to 2hrs each day and only available to uses up to 4pm & subject to a looking available so I’d suggest booking the slot b4 u arrive to avoid disappointment on the 1st day! They do packages with afternoon tea and access which unfortunately made it very busy on the Friday and sadly with some overly loud local guests!! Food menus are the same in both the bar / pub and the brassiere. But I’d recommend booking esp over Friday/ Saturday as it got busy! The food was ok but probably not up to the standard I’d expected. It was basically good pub food at a premium price. Went for lemon sole goujons on 1st night which were so overdone they could have been birds eye fish fingers which was a shame. The ceaser salad the following night was better. Breakfast was nice enough although the sourdough toast was absolutely rock hard but that’s just a minor point. Staff were friendly and attentive but not overly so. all in all a nice couple of nights in a nice location and a nice feel to the place but not exceptional
