Barrington Lodge Hotel

There was no one to welcome us. No one acknowledged our presence. I finally had to call the number on the confirmation and was told someone would come. Took maybe 15 minutes before someone did. Free parking was a plus.

The stay was pleasent and staff were friendly. We weren't aware of the parking charge prior to the stay, so that was a bit of a shock.

In a very run down area. Had to climb 3 flights of stairs to fet to room. No food. No staff. Couldnt pay for parking as no one around. Bed was comfy but definitely a no frills hotel

Very attentive front desk who couldn't do enough to help. The room was a bit dated and there was a car park charge that was not advertised very well. It was handy for Gatwick airport and at the price I would probably use again for a night before a flight

Firstly let me this just say that room was an ok price for what we received & I have used a few times so this is general feedback to each of my stays. Each time, just the 1 night & have been in a few different rooms. Bit out of the way to get to (round the streets to find). Carpark basic & lots of construction going on around so not the nicest look as you drive up. On first look inside it is quaint/quirky but slightly dated. Receptionist is not around all the time as does a number of jobs around the lodge but bell to ring for service & didn't wait too long. Nice & friendly & helpful. Good wifi & entrance keypad (info on what to do for both provided). Generally lodge is dated & in need of a refresh/upgrade but it is nice enough & generally served what I needed from it. On one stay I did see some supplies/extra stock left outside in corridor - so not a great look. Rooms - dated as well but standard stocked tea/coffee refreshments. TV was ok as well (some a bit old & slow). Very comfy beds - so good mattress & got good night sleep (main thing). Not too noisy either. No aircon but fan provided which was decent & not too noisy. No breakfast option - not even just cereal & toast with tea/coffee & juice on offer as that would be better. So had to find somewhere - luckily had car. All in all I received a decent service & I suppose reasonable value for money (have received better in some places for the money). However, I have stayed a few times & will use again - so says something.

Good cleanliness & value for money. No other facilities apart from rooms which were very clean. Tea/coffee making facilities but excellent location for The Hawth Theatre.

Nice hotel and very good value for money. Yes, it’s a little dated but everything is very clean and tidy plus a very spacious private car park outside. There is a nice pub literally next door plus plenty of nice restaurants and bars within walking distance. Would definitely come back again.

Bizarre building in the middle of housing estate! But checking was smooth (strictly not before 3pm). Parking £5. Room small but spotless. Bathroom clean. Area in quiet but walls thin so some sounds from other rooms, but overall quiet. Door handles droopy and could do with replacing! Perfect location for events at K2. Would definitely stay here again.

Room was cleanand tidy. Decor was good. Excellent value for money. Use a satnav to find the hotel as it's hidden away in residential back roads. Little miffed they asked for £5 for parking. Refused and parked in the road outside.

Great area, great transport system that runs 24/7. Could do with some cleaning in certain areas of the room such as the bathroom radiator. Bathroom door. Other than that was fine

The room was very cold and not clean. There was a leak in the bathroom making the floor wet. The room smelt of cooking and just was unacceptable. We couldn’t stay. We left and stayed elsewhere which was a huge waste of money but we just didn’t want to sleep in that horrible place.

For the price I thought it was very good value. Excellent communication room was clean and slept well.

Clean, affordable and close to gatwick airport

The room looked like hadn't been cleaned in 5+ years No one on reception the whole time we were there. Shower dribbled out water and was also dirty

The room was very unclean. The shower curtain was very dirty. There were no hot water in the sink tap. The bathroom floor was sticky. The carpet in the bedroom was dirty had marks needed a clean. When you look into the car park rubbish everywhere. This hotel is not clean for dogs let alone humans. I complained about the state of the room and got back £6.50 what an insult.

I’m shocked and disappointed by my experience at Barrington Lodge. I arrived around 9 PM, only to be greeted by suffocating heat throughout the building. There was no air conditioning whatsoever, making the environment nearly unbearable. For a place that markets itself as a hotel, this is simply unacceptable. I immediately raised my concerns with the reception staff and politely requested to cancel my booking due to the unlivable conditions. While Hotels.com was understanding and tried to help, hotel management outright refused to authorize a cancellation, leaving me with no choice but to stay. Unfortunately, things only got worse. Upon entering my room, I was genuinely horrified by the disgusting state of cleanliness. The room was caked in dust and filth, something you’d expect in an abandoned building, not a functioning hotel. I took several photos to document the condition—it was that bad. I returned to reception to complain, and even the staff member admitted that the room was below standard. But surprise, surprise—no alternative rooms were available. I was advised to “follow up with management,” which frankly felt like a way to dodge responsibility. Between the stifling heat, filthy room, and the complete lack of accountability from management, this has easily been one of the worst hotel stays I’ve ever experienced. It was very quiet, clean and comfortable

Check in was simple, got a text prior explaining things so never actually saw any members off staff. The room is nothing like pictured, double bed not a queen size bed, furnishings need updating and are worn out. Room wasn’t clean, cobwebs, every cushion on the sofa has worrying stains, shower was full of limescale, door handles are wobbly. It’s a handyman’s dream so take your tools!

I had a 'deluxe' double room. There was no milk for my coffee and no toiletries, just a bottle of soap on the side of the sink. There were cobwebs everywhere and a funny smell from the bathroom. Never again I think is an understatement. I know it's cheap, but I'd rather fork out an extra tenner to get a travelodge or anywhere else TBH.

Took a long time for member of staff to come to check in desk when we arrived . Rooms were as described. Bed was very soft and not at all to my liking although it was perfect for my husband. Carpet could do with replacing

A dated property that needs some money spent on it. Our room was small with cobwebs on the ceiling which could easily be reached to clean. Bed not that comfortable.

Nice room but heating stuck on full blast and unable to turn down (room 201) Had to sleep with window open; Luckily it was quiet !

The walls were too thin you could hear the person next door gagging and coughing most of the night we had a early flight had to get up at 3.45 not the hotel's fault but not a good start too our holiday.

The room and bathroom were ok, but the bathroom needs a little time and money spent. Room 301 needs sink tap securing, hot water did not turn on, no plug in sink. Also noisy extractor fan (needs clean), no window in bathroom. Also redundant fixings need sorting or removal (?shelf or cup/toothbrush holder). A half hour work and £10 would sort.

Clean room, very dated building with regard to the decor and furniture. The bed in room 2 was very uncomfortable and needs a new mattress. Otherwise fine for the money. £65 for an overnight ahead of a flight from Gatwick. Wouldn’t want to stay more than a single night.

It was a lovely place and a lovely clean room but the shower is rubbish it burns you even on low for hot then goes freezing cold. Also the queen bed had a dip in the middle so couldn't have any contact with my partner.

The place has obviously been around a while, the staff were friendly however elusive. The place could do with an update. The TV in the room for example has to be from the 90s lol. But generally the place was quiet

Perfect for an overnight stay en route to London by train. Nothing fancy but beds were comfy and shower was good.

Very uncomplicated staff. We arrived 10 min to late for check-in, but the communication in advanced was very helpful. We could enter the hotel without any problems.

Key was on the table and room was unlocked. I got a text explaining everything, very useful and quick check in

Staff Osama was excellent with his customer services. Room was large enough. Heating system on the second night was cold. Luckily, I had my hot water bottle. Pay attention to lints on the cornersd window sea

Arrived before the reception closed. Sign provided contact numbers to call and a bell to be checked in. Bell didn’t work, both phone numbers provided did not work. Only by chance another guest came in and gave us a completely new telephone number to call (which was not written down anywhere else). No receptionist on duty and a random other guest showed us to the rooms, where the keys were already inside the rooms. Beds/linen were awful. Thin and uncomfortable. Bathrooms were clean however. Would not recommend to anyone who wasn’t used to living in student accommodation for the last couple of years.

Weird no reception staff at all. When I arrived the door was locked and I was texted a code to unlock it. The whole stay no staff were in the building

The check in was a disaster. On arrival there were other guests who’d been waiting to check in over an hour. The numbers left on reception to call did not work. After about another 30 minutes one of the guys managed to get an alternative number from his agency (the hotels.com bot was useless) there was only one line so it took ages to get through. The person required me to send a copy of ID by email, I don’t carry ID so had to get someone from home to send it. Eventually they sent me an email with my room number and how to check in, there was another guest already in the room, I had to call back and get it changed. Very painful will never stay here again. When you look at the state of the reception and sign not saying not to smoke weed you can tell what sort of place this is. In fairness the room was ok for the money.

Another lovely stay. Whole place smells fresh and clean, lovely room, cozy, great bed, amenities and TV brilliant, staff amazing. Value for money and just a gem of a hotel.

Came off an eight hour flight to find no one at the front desk to greet us. There was a sign that said they could be reached on “WhatsApp”, no one replied for almost over four hour. An older gentleman comes from upstairs and starts talking to us to then say he didn't work there (he later used a key to let us in our room) the room was tiny and on the first floor just left of the reception desk. We could hear all conversations happening in the lobby and our door would shake and rattle anytime someone opened or closed the main front door. The bathroom was tiny and cramped. The shower curtain was dirty and should have been changed a long time ago. Things in the room such as the tea kettle were dusty, showing signs that they had not been touched in a while. The room and just initially interaction was so bad I canceled the rest of my stay in that room and booked somewhere else. All in all zero out of ten would not recommend

I base my reviews on value, rather than absolutes. This hotel is clean and comfortable and for the price offers very good value. There is a pub about 150 meters away, but Crawley town centre is only about a 10 minute walk where you will find quite possibly the cheapest 'spoons in the country

Lovely old building, v. friendly and efficient guy on reception...no frills place but absolutely fine. Can be reached by bus from Gatwick railway station 10 minute walk - save the taxi fare!

Second time staying here, close to airport, in a quiet area. Nothing fancy, but has worked great for us

Perfect for an evening in Crawley before an early airport as close to cinema and restaurants and only 15 mins from airport. Pleasant reception staff and clean quiet room.

I liked how this property was more in the country. Very close to Tilgate park which was fun to walk.

It was a very hidden away hotel and a great place to be if you are looking to be close to Gatwick for early flights, the bed was super comfy and the excitement of our holiday we couldn’t sleep but it was easy to access and only a few minutes away by taxi. Thank you so much for having us and it is one I would recommend

If having to book in the area again, I would choose differently. The location is not easy for a traveller coming via bus but doable. There was no blow dryer in the room, important for me. The front desk had limited hours. There was not restaurant nearby.

From the last three hotels i have stayed in around Crawley , in three weeks . This one was the best , close to a few pubs and not to far from town, and staff very nice and helpful

The property is located in the middle of a housing estate. Not would one expect. My gps put me outside someone’s house. Nowhere to eat if you arrive on a Sunday.
