Anchorage Inn Rochester

It is under renovation at the moment so everything is a bit messy and chaotic but i could tell that they are trying to turn the place around and i can appreciate that. The rates are more affordable, pet friendly for only $20 extra pet fee per night, and they offer weekly rates for those who need more extended stays. The property is quite beautiful and has a lot of potential. They have a lovely arrangement of flowers near to the entrance/exit; a pool (closed per renovating), a small gathering area, and space to walk/run your dog. A camera is situated at the office that can overlook the parking lot area, Allowing a feel of security. The staff are kind and helpful. . The location itself is perfect. Located on rt 125 that runs right into the heart of Rochester, and just right off of rt 16. One is able to pop off and onto the high way directly. With a little tender loving care, this motel can be a real hidden gem for any traveller.

We were in a renovated room which was quite comfortable. Renovations are in progress, so you have to drive around the back, which feels a little dark isolated at night, it one you are around the front everything is well lit and I felt very safe.

Very quiet and convenient from the highway. Easy parking. Comfortable bed, AC works great. Reasonably clean but not spotless. Linens look fine.

Floors were filthy, bathtub had years of soap scum build up and had black hairs in it I’m blonde, no toilet paper at all, office was never open I knocked and and used the buzzer no one ever answered, room was dated and in need updating! The grounds around the pool area were beautiful though!

Rough around the edges. This is a dated property that it seems they are trying to do some improvements to. The beds weren’t really comfortable and pillow? Let’s just say we went to Walmart to buy our own. Not the cleanest place either and no food options on site. The exterior pool area was nice and it was well lit outside.

These folks are doing renovations, and so some allowance must be made for that, but the attention to detail shouldn't be a victim of the remodel. Food items were left in the refrigerator from some previous guests and a used coffee filter was left in the coffee machine. Friendly staff and environment, absolutely, but having a desk with no desk chair has to be something someone notices.

Staff is always friendly and helpful. The flowers and all make the property look really nice. It's an older property and they are trying to fix it up but that takes time. It's a little dated in some places. But my room was clean. Plenty of hot water and it was quiet.

great property with enough room to throw the football with the kids. Excellent pool with above par maintenance and beautiful shrubbery and nestled in the privacy of the woods. The exact type of Northern New England getaway often sought after for that real glimpse of comfort. Coffee shop across the street, next to a burger joint across the street from a store with all needed amenities and within a short stroll. I've traveled heavily in my career and know an authentic thing when I see it. I really hate to let this gem out of the bag, but the serenity and relaxation of this Sunday is something that is exceptional.

Toilet seat broken and smell in bathroom was gross. Told them and they did not fix it. The room had a smell too just not as bad as bathroom. I never saw there was a charge for a dog. So that sucked

Service only fair. Clerk friendly. Towels stained. Sheets clean but only sheet on mattress no mattress cover. not worth the price.

filthy hotel with very thick black mold in the bathroom, stained, deteriorated furniture, dirty floors and surfaces, the hosts told me to “go somewhere else,” when I reported the mold. I said that I had tried to find other accommodations. To which she replied, “then don’t complain.” No amenities, coffee, tissues, no basics. I did not feel safe there. Also, smokers outside of my door sent smoke wafting into my room.

When we arrived around 10pm- the person checking us in was sitting in our room watching TV - she was not on the bed - she was in a chair but it was still a very odd experience. beds were very uncomfortable - there was hair all over the bathmat, we found scissors wrapped up in our towels, ... it was a very odd experience.

Heating aystem didnt work correctly, rooms werent cleaned or vacuumed, floors were sirty bathroom was old and not well cleaned

The folks running this motels are very nice but the house keeping was an issue. We couldnt even shower as someone elses hair was 8n there as well as a dirty bath mat, followed by there being a used tube of hand lotion.

Rooms were in shambles! So dirty, sheets were filthy with multiple, scary-looking stains. Towels were also stained and smelled. Holes in wall, and bathroom ceiling was crumbling. No toilet paper holder to be found. Bed was creaky and springs broken. One redeeming quality was AC actually worked. However, the filter was filthy as well. Would never stay here again.

Very quiet,buetiful property. Rooms are good size ,with a fridge. Rooms are clean, downside no place to hang clothes. It still needs a little updating. I know they have been renovating and are doing a great job. I would stay again

It’s a nice old style road side motel resembles the 1950s no closets in the rooms ,small bathroom short low toilet crinkly bathtub flooring

It is right on the highway so it was easy to find but it was a little loud in the early morning. My only issue was there was only two very flat pillows for our king size bed. This may have just been an oversight when trying to get the room ready for us quickly though. Shower/tub could use some renovating but the water pressure was surprisingly great. Very close to a couple restaurants and a gas station. We came to the area for haunted overload it it only took us less than 20 minutes to get there.

Arrived at 7 pm to check in; office locked with a note on the door "back in 15 minutes." Waited 15 minutes, no one came. Called number posted, dialed "0" for front desk as instructed but said "invalid extension." Looked up 800 number on internet and was told by agent that they would resolve the issue; nothing happened. Finally the receptionist arrived--had gone out to get pizza for dinner and had no one to cover. I felt bad for her. As soon as I opened the door to my room, I was hit with the overwhelming smell of stale cigarettes. I didn't want to risk opening a window as area is sketchy. The deadbolt on the door was broken. I pulled the couch in front of the door. Pulled drapes, missing some hooks. No place to hang clothes. The bed was on slats rather than a boxspring and bonged every time I moved. The TV remote was confusing with no instructions. Stuck on Direct TV home screen with heavy metal music pounding in the background. Finally figured it out but anything besides local channels required me to call an extension (I gave up--didn't want any weird charges). Shower curtain missing a rivet. When I stood in the tub for a shower, felt like I was going to fall through (and I don't weigh much!). Next morning found Keurig--dried up coffee pod still intact, water reservoir dicey. Never again!

You get what you pay for. No closet. No blanket. Cheap price.

Lets start by checking in. Checking in the lady said she refuses to check in people with the computer. I had to let her know that i paid for the room 3 times. After i get my key to my room i went and looked at it. (I got a room with a king sized bed) from entrance to the bed had alot of room but when you get to the bed there is probably about a foot between the wall and bed. To use the bathroom you have to squeeze through this. That bathroom was a joke as well. The toilets sat so far to the ground i thought i was sitting on the floor. The shower had no pressure behind the shower head. Off to the bed.... the bed looked nice but once you sat or laid on it, it was like every spring was jabbing you. Def couldnt get comfortable, pillows felt like i was back in the military trying to find that sweet spot to close ur eyes on. I woke up so many times and finally just slept on the floor. The blanket on the bed was very thin. So if you like a cold room and being warm under a blanket, their blankets are not for you. It was like they went to the dollar tree and picked up the shittest softest blanket there. The tv was really the best part about the room. Had direct tv( but couldnt see what show you were watching or view the guide) batteries were missing out of the remote. I didn't enjoy my stay. My back hurts from the bed and also from having to sleep on the floor. Please steer clear of this place and find a better place.

Dogs & domestics through paper thin walls

This is a very nice day. My husband and I stayed for two nights because I’m a travel nurse and I was working in the area. Our room was newly renovated and very comfortable. There’s no breakfast available, but they do have a Keurig in each room which was very convenient and it’s very close to several businesses and restaurants. It’s a little rundown and older, but definitely worth the money.

Staff was super friendly, room was not ready but was taken care of! Ac worked good room was clean! Only negative was the guy next door had his tv on all night thru the am!! Didn’t get much sleep!

The room had a odd clhorine type smell throughout. No place to hang up jackets of clothing. Toilet paper holder was broken. Could maybe use a small table if you wanted to eat in, there wasn't any.

pleasant and helpful staff

We had an amazing stay. The owners are available 24/7 and when we wanted a late arrival it was not a problem we needed more coffee not a problem. We were there over 4th of July weekend and there were fireworks going off all weekend we had a 2 year old and we could not hear a single one. We will definitely be staying there again next year

Unusual for NH, office operated through a window while we stood outside in the cold. Not a welcoming sign. Had to wait 10 minutes for anyone to show up. Rez made 3 months in advance for two queen room for two adults and two teens. When we arrived, only two towels and a half used roll of toilet paper with no back ups for four people. Had to retrieve the extras ourselves waiting outside in the cold once again. Beds were rock hard with meh quality linens (they did seem clean), extremely loud frame set up (including next door) and very low quality (and no extra) pillows with zero support. Beds obviously salvaged throw offs from a chain hotel because the auto shade buttons didn’t apply to our room. And the bed lamps didn’t work. Bulbs out in the other floor lamp though we did find bulbs in the bed table drawer—again didn’t appreciate the DIY requirement. They didn’t work so we were left with a single overhead bulb plus the bathroom fluorescent to light the whole room. The shower had a plastic bag zip tied on the neck of the shower head that had clearly been there for awhile…leak I guess? No receipt offered at checkout…because no one was there. Well I could go on but you get the idea.

I hate to be the person to write a negative review but the first room they put me in had hair in the shower, dirt and hair on the floor and red lipstick on the comforter. I kindly asked for a new room. The second room also had a dirty floor and what looked like a giant dog stain on the comforter. The best part of the second room, was the woman working asked if I wanted a broom to sweep… After expressing my concerns (through exhausted tears) there was no remedy and I left. They REFUSED my refund request even though I didn’t stay at the property. The Anchorage Inn of Rochester, in a way, stole $500 from me. I plan to post this review on as many avenues as possible because the unfairness and treatment here was unreal.

Better than I expected, clean and comfortable. Lady at check in was courteous and considerate, so overall a good experience and I would stay there again.

I have stayed at the Anchorage Inn several times over the years to attend family funerals in Rochester NH. It has always been serviceable. The condition of the motel has definitely declined. The beds were clean, but the walls, furnishings and bathroom facilities were all in need of major updating and repairs. The TV was not working. There is no ice machine. There was a good wifi connection. The staff were helpful, but not up to the huge task of improving the conditions. It is a great location so I hope the motel can make improvements and stay in business.

Quiet,clean, close to highway,

This motel was a pleasant surprise. We stayed there because Ogunquit was sold out. Not luxurious, but adequate. It was clean and the customer service was very friendly. One great thing is we found the food places around there to be excellent. Forgot their names, but the Mexican place, My Cielo Taqueria, for dinner and nearby restaurant, Brickstones, for breakfast were wonderful. We would go there again.

The room smelled bad, the shower and toilet were filthy, the windows were dirty and there were bugs on widow sills, the glass surface of the coffee table had streaks of dirt. We decided not to stay and looked for another hotel. As we were leaving the Police showed up to server a warrant for 4 doors down from our room.

This isnt a 5 star hotel but for the motel that it is i would give it five stars. Its cheap, clean, staff are friendly but leave you alone and its right off the highway. What more could you ask for?

Quiet overnight until traffic starts up in the morning (its next to a highway). Nice warm room in the winter, hot shower, nice toiletries, free coffee. Great for a quick overnight.
