The hotel was nice and pretty much as advertised. However, it was advertised as having a pool. One of the reasons we booked the hotel. We were looking forward to it since Chicago had multiple days in the high 90s and heat indexes between 105 to 108. Pool was under repair and blocked from usage.Web site should have reflected that. May have made a different decision.

Parking slope getting into the garage was steep, would not recommend any low profile vehicles to attempt if too low would scrape or get stuck....pool was never renovated, other than that it was a decent holiday inn but dont think its a 300 dollar motel

Good things: helpful staff, great room cleaning, nice lobby, better-than-average hotel breakfast, convenient (paid) parking, small shops and cafes near-by. Not so good: pool closed, broken bike machine in gym, some free weights missing, awkward design in room with two queen bedroom that had small bathroom and only one chair, ice machine on different floor.

Stay was absolutely average, which would have been fine, but I was completely annoyed by the charge for the parking in the run down, unlit parking deck. It was $18 for the night, which is much less than in a large city location but ridiculous for a suburban hotel, especially for a garage that appeared to be falling apart and had no lighting at night.

The room and staff was great. My only complaint is the noisy fridge was amplified by the cabinet. The property is going down hill. The pool was closed, the covered garage area was very dark and scummy. Hardly any lighting and soiled hosiery. I was overwhelmed by the smell of earthy colgne;-). The carpet in the lobby was visibly stained. Looks like they gave up maintaining the hard assets in that structure.

I booked this hotel to health care for a relative after surgery. All in all, it was a great location, and the staff was friendly. It was also priced fairly well compared to other hotels in the area. It could've been a little cleaner, there was lots of dust on the lamps in our room and buildup of dirt and molded in little corners in the bathroom. I requested towels once and told they were being brought up, but they never came. I ended up just getting some from the housekeeping cart. The second time I asked to have towels sent up I was told I would need to pick them up from the front desk. I probably would not stay here again with the exception of an overnight trip and a few other options.

This place is gross. Mold on the shower ceiling, hair on the soap/shampoo holder, and something red (blood?) splattered on the wall behind the bathroom door. The coffee maker was also disgusting and looked like it had never been cleaned. The tissues were not re-stocked by the “cleaning” staff in the morning, either. It seems like all they do is make the beds. My son also found a random pill on the floor. Fortunately, he’s old enough that he doesn’t just stick things in his mouth like a toddler does. The TV is as basic as they come. No streaming services and no guide, you flip through channels like it’s the 90s. The phone also didn’t work. I wasn’t even able to call the front desk from it. I expected more from a hotel in Evanston and I’ve stayed at decent Holiday Inns before, but this one needs some serious attention and perhaps better management. The only thing this hotel has going for it is its location. It’s close to the purple line and several shops and restaurants are in walking distance.

Some of the surfaces in our room were peeling off and generally kind of beat up. Wished they had complimentary coffee in the lobby. Instead they had a pitcher of ice water that was usually empty. Staff was nice, though some front desk staff were not super professional. Cleaning staff was excellent. Can’t beat the location in downtown Evanston!

Always clean and workers are very professional and polite. Location is about a 10 min from the beach, plenty of dining options and the train station about a 5 min walk. Wifi was impossible to work with but somehow let me stream so stay was good, but work within the hotel was almost impossible becasue of wifi.

Nice location in downtown Evanston, but it is a bit too close to the L and Metra trains. I sleep with some powerful earplugs, so I didn't have any sleeping problems. But if that train noise would be an issue for you, I suggest staying at some of the other hotels that have the positives of the downtown Evanston location but are a bit farther away from the trains. Several others fit the bill but are still within walking distance of the trains. Otherwise, this was a nice hotel with OK gym, good inexpensive breakfast buffet and nice rooms.

Handy to downtown Evanston. Easy check in. Our only issue was a room right by the door to the stairs and we could hear the door slam and subsequently rattle our door every time someone went up/down the stairs. Also we could hear people in the hall as loudly as if they were in our own room. I would stay here again but ask for a room not by the stairs.

Room was nice and clean. My problem was the staff was some of the most unfriendly staff ive experienced at a hotel. There was 3 people in our 2 bed room. When we checked in we noticed there was one a single towel in the room. We ask about additional towels and was meet with "heres one two should be plenty and after a brief encounter finally got 3 towels for 3 people on a 3 day 2 night stay. Looked for a ice machine

Staff was AWESOME! When I checked in there were two women at the desk, both were very friendly and helpful! The hotel was very clean. The location is highly walkable and feels safe. I selected a city view room and was able to check in a little early.

The service here is impeccable. Tip if you are an IHG member you get a discount on parking. The rooms are older but it’s totally walkable to the south part of NU’s campus, unless the weather isn’t cooperative.

A great location for our vacation this week-An easy walk to the beach, to Northwestern, to public transportation, and lots of dining options. The hotel desk employees were kind and helpful and our room was nice. You could hear the purple line from our side of the building (which runs early and late) but it didn’t keep us from sleeping -we were so tired from our days’ adventures!

Great location! We traveled for a concert at Soldier Field and needed to stay only one night. It was fantastic! We chose this location because of the price compared to many other options around this same area and closer to downtown Chicago. It was much cheaper, but just as nice, if not better, than staying closer to the venue. The best part was it was within walking distance (less than 5 mins) to a train station, which takes you right to The Loop within the hour. *** I will advise though, if going to a show at Soldier Field, leave earlier than you think you'll need to! The buses get backed up near the venue the closer it gets to the show. Beds were very comfortable, room was spotless, and staff were incredibly nice. I felt very safe at this location as a female in my 20s, even at 1 am when we were coming back after the show. Very quiet, nice neighborhood. Parking was a breeze. I definitely recommend the breakfast as well! It was well worth the additional cost. Thank you for a great stay!

This property was tucked away near the downtown businesses with many shops and restaurants within a ten minute walk. The El was close by and you could also walk 3.5 blocks to the beach. The property itself was clean, modern, snd updated. We stayed here while visiting Northwestern University.

The breakfast for 10$ was really great. I wish there was coffee available in the lobby for those who don’t want breakfast. Coffe in the room wasn’t great but do-able. Great price and great location!

Overall, the stay was good. The hotel needs some updating and more cleaning. My bed was very comfortable and the buffet breakfast was very good. The desk staff were very nice and helpful. Great location to the nearby restaurants and lake. Parking garage needs a complete remodel.

It was great waking up knowing I could get an AYCE breakfast with eggs, potatoes, thick cut bacon, and sausage (pork links and turkey patties!) for $10! Easily the best part of my stay~

I had a one night stay for a concert I attended. The check in was an easy and quick process. Staff allowed me to check in early. The hotel room was quiet. The beds and pillows were comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was $10 and there was very limited options left (need to do better at keeping up with food) and the food was cold. Other than the breakfast my stay was worth it!

This hotel is in a great location. You can’t ask for anything more central and with an easy walking distance to all of the public transit. The rooms were fine. The view was great, but the check-in process was not very easy. Arrived 15 minutes before 4 PM. Had to stand in line to check in only to find out the room was not ready. Had to wait another 15 minutes, the staff tried very hard, but had to wait on housekeeping.

I was pleasantly surprised by the location and all the amazing places in the neighborhood. We stayed here to attend a cubs game and the taking the subway a block away from the hotel was super easy! We found a great restaurant and it was such a peaceful and safe neighborhood to walk at night. The room was clean, spacious and had great amenities. I would love to stay here again to avoid the craziness and crazy prices that is Downtown Chicago but super accessible by public transportation.

I was very disappointed with my stay. When we arrived, we were sent to a room that had not even been cleaned yet, which was an unacceptable way to start our visit. The experience at breakfast was also frustrating. When we arrived, there was no one at the desk, so the four of us got in line and began getting our food. The employee then came in and made all four of us put our plates down so they could get our information. There were much better ways this could have been handled. One person from our group could have provided the information, or the employee could have waited until we were finished eating. Making all four of us stop and put our plates down was unnecessary and unprofessional—especially considering the breakfast itself was very disappointing. For the amount I paid for this stay, I expected the room to be in much better condition. There was peeling paint and wallpaper throughout the room, and the overall appearance did not reflect the price we paid. Between being assigned an uncleaned room, the poor condition of the room, the disappointing breakfast, and the way we were treated during breakfast, this stay did not meet my expectations at all. Unfortunately, I definitely will not be staying here again.
