Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Carthage by IHG

Side entrance doors wasn’t working. Keys didn’t work on opening outside doors. We could go out the doors but had to walk around to enter hotel. Very limited parking in front of hotel. It was reported to front desk but nothing was done to fix the doors

The halls/floors are filthy. Luckily the room is cleaner. Our deadbolt doesn’t go in all the way, the room key doesn’t work on outside door……that’s all, so far!

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Room was spacious, had great amenities and was clean. Only thing they need to fix are the side door / pool door card readers. They worked 1 out of 5 times.

There is no way of knowing if a property is under renovation, so pool closed, gym closed. My biggest issue is they put us in a room closest to a busy highway. Loud even at 3am ... normally I will choose Holiday Inn express but will re-think that going forward.

Over all a good hotel. The floors in the rooms need repaired with better quality flooring. Beds were comfy, pool was good, customer services was great. The town has dry water is the only issue,but the hotel can't be held responsible for that.

Our room was on the 2nd floor and at the very end of the hall, the entire time we kept smelling gas. We stepped foot into our room and immediately noticed 2 dozen of Chinese beetles on the ceiling, floor and blinds. In the bathroom we found more beetles and tiny ants on the counter and floor. My grandson took a shower, only to find the shampoo, conditioner and bath wash empty. A night, we could hear every big rig go by, the windows rattled, I noticed the windows were single pane in Texas? I did speak to the front desk, she said she just got on shift and she hadn’t had time to check out the odor. I suggested they call an exterminator, When I mentioned the beetles and ants, she said you must not be from Texas and this is normal, we can’t get rid of them, I do live in Texas and we call an exterminator a couple of times a year. The gas smell was so unpleasant, I parked at the end by the side exits in order to avoid the smell, luckily I was on the 2nd floor and only had to go up one flight of stairs. We had lots of family, most were in the 3rd floor and did not have the odor, they only noticed the bleach smell in the elevator. One other couple agreed with me about the smell.

Added 75 incidental charge Took 20 minutes to check in Blamed it on me using 3rd party booking Fire alarm went off at 2am

Went to check in and they told me my card didn’t go through and wanted me to pay again. I refused so they had to call the manager. Finally got in a room. The floor pieces in front of the ac were all coming up tripping us. Get up the next morning and the elevator is not working. Will never stay at this hotel again.

We were able to get into our room a little bit earlier than the stated time. Bummed that the pool and hot tub were not available for use, but it should be fabulous now as they had finished redoing it during our stay and we’re just filling them both up as we were leaving. Bed we so comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Room was about to renovated and we were there for 4 days. When asked simply said we were full. Room had bugs and bathroom was dirty upon check in

When we first arrive the bathroom had hair on the floor. The second after the room was cleaned there was still hair in the bathroom that did not belong to us.

There were bugs in our room. Front desk got us moved. 2nd room had bugs as well. The 3rd room Was finally okay. But with bugs in 2 previous rooms it made it feel dirty.

Quick stop but perfect stay. Comfy and clean room. Excellent shower and amenities. Breakfast was best we had on our trip. Highly recommend.

We needed a hotel room because my OTR truck driver husband had a wreck and was at the local hospital. He was released and arrived at the hotel before we did. The woman who checked him in was very nice and walked him to our room when she saw how injured he was. The beds were extremely comfy!!

The only issue we had was kids jumping up and down or walking hard in room above us.

It was definitely a very rough room that should not have been given out. 2nd floor right in front of the elevator - which wasn't the problem. The air conditioner pools water all over the floor in gigantic bucket fashion, the tub was completely rusted on the bottom and there was no shower curtain nor enough towels for 4 people.

The trim around the air conditioner kept falling off. Told the front several times and was not fixed during our stay. I’m praying I don’t get charged for it. The air conditioner did not work well. Beds were super soft. Water did not stay hot long

The AC was ok but had it been the middle of summer it would not have been adequate. There was barely any water pressure. I have thick hair and it took several minutes for me to be able to get my hair wet. Additionally, we were on the 3rd floor and you could hear the traffic from the interstate through the windows.

Ac unit loud, mattresses in old shape, felt like in a bowel

Paid for 3 reservations on Expedia, checked in to property and was asked for a credit card. They charged my card for all 3 rooms again plus incidentals. 3 days later still no refund from them.

There is no room available when we arrived. We have to go to other hotel. Front desk told us that hotels.com sometimes don’t reflect the real time with their system. Please do NOT charge my credit card for this night. Hotels.com itinerary: 72606013651435

Had a one night stay to visit family at a church service, came in from Dallas. The morning staff on Sunday morning during breakfast specifically, on 2/25 were very professional, friendly and polite and personable( hate I didn’t get their names). Thank you ladies! Bc of you… we would definitely choose to stay again.

Arrived at midnight to learn our room had been double booked and there were no other available rooms. Staff kept trying to put us in rooms that already had guests!!!! Left a 1 AM for another hotel that had vacancy.

I liked that we didn't have to travel far to the event we were going to. I didn't like being on the first floor under people who were stomping or running around through the night, it made it hard to sleep.

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was nice and clean. The only oddity was that there was very little cellphone service. I did use the wi-fi but it didn't help the regular service. However, if I go to Carthage, TX again I would strongly consider staying at the hotel again.

The facility is well maintained and clean. The staff was friendly and courteous. The tub fixtures in our room was showing wear and the shower flow, as in most hotels, is not much more than a mist. I was a little disappointed that the A/C had no was to force the fan to be in "continuous" mode, to help mask outside noise. Also, it seemed the the thermostat monitored movement and shut the A/C off when there was no movement in the room. I woke up hot a couple of times and move around and place my hand on the thermostat to cause the A/C to cycle back on. This is common at most newer hotels, so I did not rate this hotel significantly lower because of this.

Yes, the breakfast was fresh, the room was clean. However the heater did stop working on the 2nd night.

Check out was at noon, so I took advantage of sleeping in. I had gotten up earlier to eat breakfast and visit with my husband before a tournament. Housekeeping banged on the door at 9:45 and again a little bit later even with my “do not disturb” sign in place. Startled me and did not get any rest. I was very upset, manager said she was sorry they should not knock before 11 am, hope they get this worked out. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and loved breakfast.
