Comfort Suites Canton - Detroit

I specifically choose this location for the pool for my grandkids and it wasn’t working and because I had done it 3rd party we couldn’t switch hotels.

The main doors were broken so you had to force yourself in or out. Room still had used trash on the floor and the closet smelled like spoiled milk. One night we were evacuated with fire alarms going off without any communication what was happening. Had to have the keys reset multiple times for a 4 night stay.

Power was out at the hotel when I arrived and was not able to check in fully. Was let in manually by the friendly staff. Power was never restored throughout my stay which made for a uncomfortable sleep. The hotel had no generator to restore any power.

The pool was this gross green color and they finally shut it down to clean it but still was not cleaning. The room was never cleaned I don’t think there was chewed up paper on the floor on the side of the bed and was dog food pieces. The beds where comfortable and the staff where really nice and pleasant and the breakfast was amazing :)!

Absolutely filthy. Elevator broken, rooms and common areas dirty, pool had clumps, yes.. clumps, of hair on the bottom and visual dirt. Bathroom itself and the towels were SATURATED in stale cigarette smoke. "Free water" dispenser in lobby looked like a petri dish. There's an equally nasty Baymont Inn, that I've stayed at, that shares the lot.This place was exactly the same, just cost more. Have lots of pics of the grossness but what a shocker,it won't let me actually upload them here. I will never stay here again and have shown friends the pics as they're making sure to pass the word along as well. I have not 1 good thing to say about this dirt hole.

Well overall it was nice an accommodating. But we booked this hotel because of the pool we wanted to swim but it was closed all weekend! Very disappointing because had we known we would have gotten a regular cheaper room .we had to stay because our room was non refundable. You should make people aware if pool is down .

Property was under new management which probably improved the condition of rooms. Carpet was new and the room seemed to be painted. Unfortunately, internet was not updated to provide service when room occupation was higher. It would be impossible to work from your room since the internet could not even connect to the hotel webpage. Additionally, the gym had not be updated. Weights (dumbbells) were missing, and equipment was broken.

I paid extra to get a nicer room in town. I live 5 min from several hotels but chose this one thinking I would get a better room. When I checked in, I was forced to sign a paper saying I knew the pool wasn’t working. Like I had much of a choice as I couldn’t cancel at that point. Then we got to the room and the tv didn’t work. Had to call the desk. They came up promptly and fixed it though! Then I went to take a shower. The shower head and tub bottom were disgusting. I got a hot shower though. The bed was bowed in the middle and we had to sleep with our heads at the bottom of the bed. The sheets were comfortable. There were some pluses. But, too many minuses for me to ever stay again. Save your money and get the 80 deal. You’ll get as much or better than this one.

Pool out of commission

The place was really quiet, clean, and staff was very helpful and professional. It has a homey feeling to it. Pool was great - water was just the right temperature and is always kept clean. Laundry facilities are adequate for my needs. They are in the middle of a management change and some things needed repair or a change (one window needed to be replaced from my room). The kitchenette was alright, but they don't have some of the things I asked for, like a pot and such. And at one point they can't change cash to quarters for laundry. The ATM machine by the elevator doesn't seem to work (I tried a few times). But these are minor inconveniences and I didn't mind them because I was able to find workarounds. Overall, my stay was pleasant and I will definitely go back and stay there again someday.

Was the closest hotel available for a concert we were attending so I wasn’t expecting immaculate. And I’m typically not one to complain. However, the room was SO hot when we arrived. The ac said “controlled by thermostat on wall” but there was not a thermostat at all in the room. We ended up door dashing a box fan because of this. The bed was not made when we arrived, it looked like someone had slept in it, got up and left. And the sheet/blanket was dirty so we had to request new ones and make the bed. So much dirt and loose change all on the floor so that tells me it wasn’t vacuumed? The tub was visibly dirty and there wasn’t even a shower curtain on the shower. Maybe this was a one off but just wasn’t the most inviting place once you got to the room. The gentleman at the front desk was nice and came up to our room to try to find thermostat to help with ac, but ultimately out of his control and they were booked because of concert so we couldn’t move rooms. Above all I was thankful for a safe place to stay.

Do not stay here. The common areas reeked of marijuana, the tiles on the bathroom floor were all cracked, the couch had stains all over it, the bed was falling off its frame and the carpet was so dirty we had to leave our shoes on.

I cancelled my reservation after walking into my room. The bathroom was dirty, stains on the mirror. I pulled back the comforter to find the sheets were dirty, filled with hair and other disgusting things. Cigarette burns on the sheets. The restroom in the lobby was filthy, urine stains all over the toilets. This place is disgusting.

While the bed was clean and good, my room felt and looked unclean.

Decent place but FILTHY

Everything was so dirty!! Floors have never been cleaned.. dusty…inside the room.. Elevator.. hallways… so dirty!!

Bathroom was dirty and smelled of mildew. Room was not cleaned at all in 3 days. Noisy.

The front desk staff were courteous and helpful, however, the hotel was dirty and run down. we were there with 3 other couples and everyone's rooms were dirty, missing furniture, stains on all carpets. moldy and smelly. sticky bathroom floor, no shower curtain liner, bathtub drain backed up, walls were all in need of a fresh coat of paint. Would not recommend this one.

Bed had bug eggs on it, mold in shower, ac not working, smelled of pot and cigarette smoke. Stayed 2 hours and checked out to go somewhere else. Never got a refund never got a call back.

One word: bedbugs! Desk clerk gave us a new room for the second night. Both my wife and I had bites show up. Hers blistered. We will be contacting Choice Hotels and local management for a refund.

The room and accommodations were very nice. The room was quiet, and we were pleased to have a walk-in shower.

Hotel rooms need remodeling. Our room had a large unsightly patch of carpet missing. Unfortunately, there wasn't another room available. The staff made up for the room conditions. They were very friendly and helpful. They are in the process of remodeling, so would stay there again after completion of remodeling

Non-smoking rooms that smell like smoke, guess they don’t enforce their policies. Hotel room door looked like it was kicked in multiple times and repaired, did not close without having to force it shut.

For the price and with the customer service, I would certainly stay here again. The rooms were super spacious and the beds were fine. The hotel is obviously old but its clear an effort is made. Customer service was great, staff made an effort to resolve any issues to the best of their ability. The pool is small but the kids still loved it. I will say breakfast was lacking - which I think was most likely due to not being prepaired for the crowds. When we got to breakfast at 8:10am, pretty much everything was empty and no coffee in sight. Staff did try to summon up what they could for the new group coming in.

Spacious room; near restaurants

Room’s door was not closing and I had to loft the whole door to be able to close. I showed to the manager she said she will have someone to come and fix, but no one came. Bathrooms no hanger to hang the towel in the bathroom. Bed was good and comfortable. Breakfast was disaster. Not recommend it.

The beds were nice and the room price was good. The location was right off 275 and everything you could want was nearby. We were in town for a UM football game and it was easy to get to the stadium about 25 minute drive away. Breakfast was ok and Tim Horton’s was in an adjacent parking lot within walking distance. The daily issues with keycards not working was a real challenge. We had two rooms. Both rooms had issues with keycards timing out. 4 times in one day?! Neither door closed fully so you had to make sure to pull the door shut completely coming and going. We used wipes to clean off extra grime on all surfaces as well as the air conditioning slats, which in one, were moldy. The tubs in both rooms had mold and need to recaulked. There were posted signs about “under new management” stating they were aware of the doors, stained rugs, and other painting needs. If you like the smell of cannabis every elevator ride and in the hallways, this is the place for you. After 3 nights, We weren’t sure if the scent was from patrons, staff or both. The Baymont hotel next door (view out the window) had a situation we observed around 1 pm Sunday. Police were moving an agitated woman out of a room at Baymont. She was handcuffed and eventually taken by ambulance. While the staff were very nice, there wasn’t much they could do in the moment for infrastructure repairs. Hopefully, improvements can be made to make this a better place to stay. We will not be returning.

Other customers were noisy around our room after 11 PM. Also, there are no hooks or towel bars in the bathrooms.

Neighbor kept us up, could hear his talking through the walls until the wee morning hours Bathroom door abdominal in its lack of paint and disrepair. Grateful for freezer in refrigerator to keep ice cold for insulin travel in a plane the next day. No spoons st breakfast . “Out of them” really ?!

At check-in, they gave me a double bed which I asked for a king. Gave us a different room that was already occupied went to front desk for a third time to get the key sink in the bathroom was very clogged. We asked to have it cleared did not come that day tried to come in our room the next morning without knocking, luckily we were dressed and getting ready to go or we would have had a horrible surprise from the maintenance guy people at front desk people at front desk had their children there and doing nothing but hanging out

The staff went above and beyond to accommodate people who lost power and were looking for rooms. Under very busy conditions & a full hotel, they maintained their pleasantness and never lost their cool. On top of that, I noticed that several staff seemed like they were working round the clock, and were doing everything from checking people in to cleaning rooms. Excellent service during a bad situation.

The lady running the front desk when I checked in was super nice and courteous. She was also there when I checked out.

Lobby and main halls were noisy and a bit smelly with a couple people in the lobby that were questionable. Parking was a bit sketchy too and we felt that certain areas of the parking lot may not be the safest for leaving a car overnight. The first room we were given was already occupied. The second room’s key entry didn’t work twice. Finally after 3 trips between the 3rd floor and lobby, they gave us a room that worked, but it was two standard sized beds instead of a single king. If getting to a room hadn’t taken 40 mins and it wasn’t 11 pm, we would have asked for a refund and found a different place to stay.

All the staff treated me and my children like FAMILY!!!

Breakfast was very disappointing. One morning the regular didn’t show up. The front desk person was doing both jobs, supposedly. When I got there about 8:30, there was no food, garbage cans were so full people were stacking their trash on the table near the cans. I went to talk to the lady at the front desk and she was on her phone and it seemed like a personal call. Not doing any job!

The staff was great very helpful and very respectful went over and above to make sure that I had everything I need in the morning making sure that everything was clean and fully stocked they also help give me a positive attitude for a job interview at one of the other hotels across the street from them the staff at this one was the best I have had at any of the hotels that I have stayed at.

Upon check-in, grabbed a bell cart from the foyer for our things that barely rolled due to damage and lack of maintenance so had to drag it like a boat anchor through the hotel, then the room we were assigned had a door lock assembly that had dead batteries, not unlocking with multiple cards leaving my wife standing in a hallway, late & tired while I made multiple trips back to the front desk for replacement key cards, finally being assigned a different ("upgrade"?) room nearby that we had to fight our way in the badly fitted door only to find no sitting furniture, all having been removed, no suitcase stands or anyplace other than floor to open bags and a dirty bathroom vanity and tub/shower bottom. Upon calmly and kindly noting issues found to the night desk manager, was told that the facility manager would call us and offer a discount. That call did not come and upon checkout the following morning, did meet the facility manager showing her pictures and kindly mentioning issues and asking for the discount offered. She said that because the room was booked through a booking site, she could not refund anything however could offer a 10% off coupon for future stays... Not gonna happen.

What was not listed in the advertisement? Is that this hotel is under construction. All of the hallways are taped up. And you are literally walking through a construction site, so are you.. I hope they remedy's the situation soon. In addition the breakfast was extremely lackluster.. However, the location was great for shopping and easy dining. Easy access to the hotel.

Average place. Not on the high end of the scale and not the bottom. Provided for our needs as a place to sleep and convenient to the BIG HOUSE for a football game ( 30 minutes).

Friendly people at the counter to with any needs, good variety for breakfast, a good central location for the area with easy access to the Interstate Highways

It was close to Plymouth and affordable.

Perfect location for our Thanksgiving weekend stay. The room was comfortable and the bed was very nice. The room is in need of renovation (they said they were in the process) and the bathtub drain was slow (our only complaint). The morning breakfast was more than adequate. The hotel was all decked out for the Holidays. The Bowery pub across the street was great too. Overall good experience and would stay again.

Breakfast is horrible, eggs are cold, hot milk not available, orange juice not available and won’t refill when we asked her. The fridge in the room does not work. The room could be more cleaner. Not as clean as shown in the picture

My beds were halfway made up, thrown together and the breakfast was not so good... poor selection of food
