Copenhagen Downtown Hostel

I chose this hostel because of its close to the city center, and I regretted it. I had a room with shared bathrooms. There were only two shared toilets on the floor, they were clogged with paper, the workers cleaned the water on the floor, I could not use the toilet at the time I needed. The sinks were clogged with leftover food. I understand that the guests are to blame for the garbage, but if the hostel staff knows that the number of bathrooms is too small for such a large number of residents, they need to take care of cleanliness or warn the guests to be careful with facility! I do not recommend. Most importantly, they are at the center of this.

The lockers are under the beds. Some beds have smaller lockers. Sometimes the check in can be delayed. They offered me a free locker. But the stairs to the lockers is a path to inferno: it’s narrow and steep, including ups and downs.

Do not stay here. After booking I sent a message to Hostel asking for available check-in hours because I was informed there’s no late check-in, but not informed what time is late. I never received a response from Hostel, even after following up with another message. Reception is at the back of the bar, but this is not clear. Reception is not staffed anyway; kiosks for self check-in. Hostel advertises elevator and 6 floor building. However, you must go up 5 steps before you can access the elevator and then it goes only to the 5th floor, not 6th. Elevator inspection ticket expired May 2025. Hostel claims they have a kitchen, but it consists of a few dishes (plates, no bowls, glasses, no mugs, a few utensils) and a couple refrigerators. Beware: half the dishes in clean stack are dirty. I found food stuck on “clean” plates every morning I was here. No sink in “kitchen” so if you need to wash your hands or food, you must go upstairs to the bar bathroom for closest sink. Only 2 toilets, 2 sinks, and 3 showers for over 36 people on the floor. Safety issue:!! Everyone intuitively turns the door handle to get out of the room. That does not work. You need to turn the little knob above the handle - in the opposite direction than is intuitive- to get out of the room. There should be a label informing people of this. There are signs in the bathroom that say “we’re here to help. Contact us on WhatsApp at this number“. The number is not on WhatsApp!!!

I booked capsule for 2, it was clean and decent. However it is not well thought out not providing locker nearby of the capsule. All you belongings must go inside where you sleep, including coat bags etc… lockers are available downstairs in the bar (for a small fee I guess) but it is not convenient at all. Capsules are clean but noisy, you can hear every move of your neighbours :D including noises from the street. Toilets and showers quite clean, but they get dirty and busy especially in the morning, when they are being cleaned in most busy time. Nice bar and staff downstairs! Overall experience - ok, but would not stay there again.

Nice place, reasonable price. Very well located all amenities near by. Bar downstairs so expect the vibe to lively and a bit noisy. Construction out front, would come make some noise early in the morning and be gone before i got outside. Ha ha, likely due to weather. The place was fine, small but functional. However, not a ritzy hotel.

The toilet are not enough for the guests and we’re always very dirty. The whole dorms weren’t very clean. There is no common area for the guests of the hostel

Too expensive according to the quality of the room, hotel and service. I got the wrong code for the door to enter my room. I did cost almost 1.100 kr for a night and then i get the wrong code. Not good enough for that price. And you have to pay to have your luggage stored in the hotel before you can get your room. The price of this hotel should be one third of the price.

Good place to stay for a centralized home base. Good vibes with a bar in the hostel. There are lockers for luggage before checking in if youre there early.

Der var meget rent, super lækkert og hyggeligt. Der var dog en masse koder man skulle taste for at komme ind, men jeg vil helt klart komme igen!!

I stayed in the women’s bedroom this time, and it was a much better experience compared to my last visit. The room was very clean and even had a sink inside, which was super convenient. There were around three bathrooms and three toilets on the floor, and they were all much cleaner than the ones on the 6th floor. Honestly, the cleanliness in the women’s section was impressive—you could almost splash water on all the toilets (not that you’d want to, but it shows how compact and well-kept everything was). However, the toilet behind the reception still takes the prize as the best one in the whole hostel!

Som forventet. Pænt rent, samme med de fælles toiletter og bade faciliteter.

Bed bugs om The room

Låg väldigt centralt, vilket såklart är en fördel. Badrummet hade massor mögel och jag vet inte hur mycket mer som egentligen fanns i det ”osynliga”. Checkade ut redan efter första natten och påpekade detta problem för receptionen, tjejen i receptionen var supertrevlig. Fick en e-post också där jag skrev samma - där blev det mindre trevligt. Tråkigt när man inte kan motta feedback, eller att man betalar för ett rum med mögel.

While the location of the hostel is amazing, you can reach every landmark and cool spots easily by foot or bike, the building itself was run down. The rooms were kinda cleanish, but the showers were not clean and the toilets we’re disgusting or didn’t work at all. Staff was quit friendly.

Cheap, but dirty! Especially the bathroom smelled so bad that I chose to brush my teeth out the window with purchased water.

Amanecí lleno de piquetes de insectos, pulgas, chinches. Eso pesa más que sus puntos positivos como el precio y la ubicación. Es inaceptable no recibir reembolso o ayuda para medicamentos para el malestar.

I was ok. The shared bathroom was a disgusting mess most of the time. The door code device on the door failed repeatedly causing me to be locked out in the hallway a couple times. On the bright side, the location is great and if you’re looking for a shared hostel room, the pod beds are nice

Very Friendly staff and good vibes in the bar. Breakfast good value but room 402 has strong smell of raw sewage from the shower drain. We raised this with reception and they sent a cleaner but this made no differance. Couldnt switch rooms so the only thing we could do to get rid of the small was to put the shower on for long periods of time.

I was really looking forward to the capsule. But it was very stuffy and uncomfortable.

Stayed in the private single room with bunk bed. The room was more than enough for one person. Excellent location to explore the city, especially if you're only staying a couple of days. I was on the first floor and could hear everything going on in the square and bar downstairs, very loud music until 5am most nights. Ask for a room on upper floors if you want to avoid the ruckus.

Beautiful view in daytime from the 5th floor. Lighting inside the room terrible though so really not pleasant after sun down (one of the lights not working on top of that). The bed is quite high of the ground. The shower is awful. The great thing about this place is the location. Next time I will pick a hotel for the same price but a few blocks away.

Fint hostel med hyggelige ansatte. Hadde seng i en kapsel, og det var rent og romslig. Ventilasjonen kunne ha vært bedre og det ble varmt inni, i tillegg til at viftene bråkte en del. Dusjene og toalettene var som forventet, ikke noe spesielt. Hadde vært fint å ha flere vasker utenfor rommene siden det er vanskelig å bruke når folk sover.

La chambre était propre et le personnel très accueillant à la réception. Cependant deux points négatifs : âmes sensibles au bruit s'abstenir (le bar de l'hostel et la terrasse font du bruit jusqu'à minuit passé). Pour la "salle de bain privée" il s'agit en fait d'une douche dont le pommeau est quasiment au dessus des toilettes, vraiment petit et peu pratique.

El edificio es agradable, con muchas actividades por la noche, la habitación es diminuta y la regadera está sobre la taza de baño, cosa que nos pareció muy curiosa, pero para ir unos pocos días, está bien!

Sleeping in a capsule on 4th floor was horrible - it was about 29 degrees in the capsule even at 3 o'clock in the night.

Nöjd med allt utom temperatur på rummet och i duschen. Rummet var extremt varmt, såpass att det knappt gick att sova, även med fläkt igång hela tiden. Duscharna hade endast kallvatten vilket inte var så trevligt. Förutom det var allt bra och fungerade toppen!

Control panel on the pod didn't work properly, so couldnt really lock the pod and the fan didn't work to well so was really hot. But not too bad overall.

The staff were very friendly. Check in and check out was super easy. The location was perfect. A very short walk to the city center and a host of restaurants and shops. The thing I didn't like was it was super noisy. Partying all night, until 0300-0400 in the a.m. Also, the bathroom set up was absolutely ridiculous. Super small and the shower head was located in the middle of the bathroom, above the sink and the toilet, so once you showered everything was wet. Although the location was perfect and the staff were friendly, the hostel itself was average. I think it's a good choice for single travelers who are only staying a day or two, but not for couples or those staying more longer than a couple of days.

There was no breakfast, but there was a bakery open at 7 across the street. Toilets were sometimes messy in the morning, but clean later on when the cleaning staff arrived. There was often a queue at reception, but that seems the case at all hostels.

Beautiful, very clean en secure. The showers and toilets are great. And the staff is so lovely.

We left after the first night (we have four nights booked). The electronic lock (key code pass) were horrible and totally unreliable. We made multiple trips back and fourth to the desk to get it corrected and it was not. This process took nearly two hours before we were able to actually get into our accommodation. Once there we were not able to lock the door and did not feel safe leaving our belongings in our accommodation. We checked out the following morning with no refund or any offer to address our issues. We will not consider booking with them again in the future and we caution anyone who does consider booking there. On a better note, the bar is a very lively place and the other patrons were super nice.

I had a really great stay at this downtown hostel! It’s perfect if you’re traveling solo and want to meet other travelers—there’s a very social vibe, and it’s easy to connect with people. I met so many cool guests just hanging out in the common areas. The staff are also amazing—super friendly and helpful. Big thanks to Mr. Duffy, Sammy, Melissa, and Phoebe (and the others whose names I didn’t catch)—everyone was so kind and really made the stay feel welcoming. The location is excellent, very central, and easy to get around. The place is clean and well-kept, which I really appreciated. If I had to mention anything for improvement, I’d say I missed having a shelf by the bed for small things, and the toilets could use a bit of an upgrade. But honestly, those were small things in an overall really great experience. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a fun and friendly place to stay downtown!

Bei meinem Aufenthalt im Copenhagen Downtown Hostel am 19. Dezember 2024 wurde mir versehentlich eine doppelte Buchung in Rechnung gestellt. Obwohl der Fehler vom Personal erkannt und die doppelte Buchung storniert wurde, warte ich seit über 20 Tagen auf die Rückerstattung. Der Kundenservice hat bisher keine zufriedenstellende Lösung geboten, und ich bin gezwungen, weiter nachzuhaken. Dies hat meinen Aufenthalt erheblich beeinträchtigt und hinterlässt einen schlechten Eindruck. Sehr enttäuschend, besonders für einen Aufenthalt in einer ansonsten guten Unterkunft.” During my stay at Copenhagen Downtown Hostel on December 19, 2024, I was mistakenly charged for a duplicate booking. While the staff identified and canceled the error, I have been waiting for over 20 days for a refund. The customer service has not provided a satisfactory resolution, and I’m still left chasing this issue. This has significantly affected my experience and left a poor impression. Very disappointing for an otherwise decent accommodation.”

Online check in didn't work. Nobody answered the phone and nobody answered through the chat. It's almost been 22 hours an still nobody has answered any messages. I didn't even check in late, as it states check in ends at midnight. I booked this because I assumed I could check in online and arrive late at night, but the hotel would rather leave you in the cold street and ignore your communications. Hotels.com customer support does not let me start a new chat to initiate a refund.

Nøglen til døren manglede i appen, så jeg måtte spørge om dette flere gange, før jeg fik hjælp. Ellers fungerede det meste. Personalet gav mig et nyt håndklæde, fordi det jeg gamle blev kastet på gulvet. De virkede imødekommende og venlige. Beliggenheden var upåklagelig fordi man var tæt på alting.

Great location

I had a great stay here! The bed was super comfortable and the showers were large with plenty of space for belongings. Tony at the bar was extremely friendly!!! The IPA is delicious, definitely recommend trying!

I liked the bar on the ground floor to spend the evening and meet people, but of course it also means that it can be a bit loud sometimes. Do not recommend for sensitive and light sleepers.

This hostel was bustling while I was there. The staff is friendly though I’m sure they’re all other travelers so it felt a little scattered at times. The single room was decent - bed was more comfortable than expected and plenty of space for a solo traveler. The shower situation, however, was unique - a wet room with no vent! The water got plenty hot with good pressure though. I appreciate the layers of security to get to the rooms. I would stay again. The breakfast was a bit lacking but not terrible. They have a water spout for filling up bottles in the bar area.

Beliggenheden var perfekt. Sengen var meget hård og for højt placeret. Fliserne på badeværelset sad løst så der kom vand op mellem dem længe efter vi havde været i bad. Lyskontakterne på sengen var placeret ulogisk - så lavt at når man vendte sig om natten tændte lyset. Morgenmaden havde et dårligt udvalg i forhold til prisen. Der var bedre udvalg på restauranter i området Der var godt udvalg af barer, med mange forskellige typer øl på hane. Tæt på gode seværdigheder som Nationalmuseet, Glyptoteket og Tivoli Tæt på Strøget
