We LOVED this property and would definitely stay again if we were in the area. The room was very clean, spacious and nicely decorated. It was a great location to walk to restaurants, bars, coffee shops and even the water. We had no issues parking and the staff were very friendly as well. It was a quiet place and we really enjoyed our stay. Definitely recommend!

Lovely hotel, handy location, nice decor and very clean. Snow and ice was bad when we arrived though and the hotel had no grit/salt for the car park which resulted in our car getting stuck....not great considering the location of this hotel. Staff were friendly but not overly helpful with the salt situation.

Do not stay here. Heavily overpriced at £200 per person per night! We were in an attic room with no lift to it or air conditioning and a window that was broken and could not stay open! There was no room for us in their dining room to have dinner and the second day there was no water from 11am until 5 but they didn’t tell us when it went on and had said we might have to leave!! We didn’t even get a complimentary glass of wine or money off!! I can’t get in contact with hotels .com to talk to anyone about it all! It has been a terrible £800 stay which we were treating ourselves to for our special wedding anniversary!!!

While the hotel’s interior design is commendable and its location convenient being close to the town centre, my overall experience was far from satisfactory. The bathroom was particularly disappointing. Shower water pressure was extremely weak, likely due to an inadequate supply system. Given the price the hotel charged, such issues should not occur. Additionally, the sound of flushing from other rooms was clearly audible, indicating poor bathroom design. Breakfast was another letdown. The presentation was unappealing and food was excessively salty. Furthermore, the absence of a lift means guests must carry their luggage up and down the stairs which is highly inconvenient. Overall, this hotel does not justify its price. I would not recommend booking a stay here.

Room was okay, clean, and with all comfort ( nespresso machine!). Breakfast was very well presented and varied. Nice drink list. Unfortunately, we couldn't have dinner for two consecutive days because the hotel doesn't reserve tables for its guests. No one helped us with our luggage: two floors of stairs! The check-in was chaotic and poorly managed: despite having paid everything in advance, without any preliminary check, the clerk handed us the card reader to pay again! Even just asking or verifying first would have been a courteous gesture.

We were so excited to stay at The Marmalade Hotel. However, this hotel misses the mark in a few categories: We were left to carry our luggage up the stairs (no elevator). The staff sort of half-heartedly answers questions about area restaurants/sights. Our room's thermostat was not working properly and we roasted on the first night. We tried getting help, but the night shift woman didn't know how the control worked. The next day we found out that the receptionist needed to turn our HVAC system on with a switch behind the front desk! There was not an apology for our hot, sleepless night. An apology would've gone a long way.

Our stay was perfect. The staff was so nice and the breakfast was wonderful. Free parking was a great plus. If we go back to Skye, would on doubt stay here.

This is a lovely hotel about 5 minutes walk from the centre of Portree. Our room was spacious and clean and bed very comfortable, we ate in the hotels restaurant and the food served was excellent. All staff we met were very friendly and a credit to the hotel.

Perfectly clean, nice modern rooms, AC, breakfast was good. One criticism is pretty small menu for the evening food. Fine dining, meat-focused menu without much variety. Great for me, the meat eater, but couldn't eat there with my travel partner who doesn't eat as much meat, so we didn't go. Walkable to the town center restaurants, though.

We loved our stay at the Marmalade! Perfect location on Isle of Skye for tourists. The staff were all so welcoming and helpful. Our room was clean and the shower was always hot! Loved our breakfasts and supper at the restaurant on site.

This hotel was amazing. We’ve stayed 8 nights during our England trip this time and this hotel was only 1 night. We should have stayed there more. The 1 night was the best stay of our trip. We will visit Portree again and definitely stay there again. Fantastic breakfast, clean and beautiful room. Very safisfied.

Nice hotel with easy access to the town centre. Friendly staff. Pull out sofa wasn't terribly high quality and expected a better mattress for the money spent. Nice appointments throughout and breakfast was good.

Overall very good but... The breakfast was amazingly good but we ate elsewhere in the evening because the evening menu was very poor for vegetarians. Also, the window in our room did not shut fully which made it a bit noisy as we were above the kitchen extractors. The staff were attentive so have probably fixed it now.

Hot water boiler was broken, guests were not advised and showers were cold. TV and remote didn’t work. We got 2 of the worse rooms , one without a view (about the only one at hotel) and the other one was the fully accessible room with all the handlebars in the shower etc. Dinner was great but breakfast was a deception. Mediocre food and not enough staff to handle the breakfast crowd. We wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The outside of the inn isn’t much to look at but the inside is very well designed modern stylish. The rooms are all updated renovated bathrooms. Great views! Breakfast had a good selection choices to order. I got the avocado toast with eggs on it, yummy! Close to the town to walk for dinner.

Property looks like a renovated period property in online pictures but most of the rooms are in a modern wing. Our room had no view and was quite noisy at night. There was an extensive power outage during the second night of our stay and no breakfast was served the following morning. Staff said this was a safety issue with food not being refrigerated for a number of hours but we felt they could have at least offered some non perishable items... bread, dry cereal, etc. To be fair, they did offer us compensation for not offering breakfast that morning.

The Marmalade staff went above and beyond in helping us with our dining choices even going to the restaurant to confirm our reservations. The breakfast was delicious. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was very pretty and the people working in the dining room were lovely and somebody who was new at reception I believe her name was Mina was very kind and compassionate, but we had the worst most disrespectful experience and it colored our stay by someone named Kerry. This person should never work with customers. Apparently she has her own bed-and-breakfast on the side, but I can’t imagine she was absolutely shaming And inappropriate involving other customers in a disagreement in front of my young child. It was honestly the most upsetting hotel experience I have ever had because of this woman who was rude, disrespectful, and quite frankly seemed like she did not like people.

This person should never work with customers. Apparently she has her own bed-and-breakfast on the side, but I can’t imagine she was absolutely shaming And inappropriate involving other customers in a disagreement in front of my young child. It was honestly the most upsetting hotel experience I have ever had because of this woman who was rude, disrespectful, and quite frankly seemed like she did not like people.

We were so excited to stay at The Marmalade Hotel. However, this hotel misses the mark in a few categories: We were left to carry our luggage up the stairs (no elevator). The staff sort of half-heartedly answers questions about area restaurants/sights. Our room's thermostat was not working properly and we roasted on the first night. We tried getting help, but the night shift woman didn't know how the control worked. The next day we found out that the receptionist needed to turn our HVAC system on with a switch behind the front desk! There was not an apology for our hot, sleepless night. An apology would've gone a long way.

All of the staff at this property were lovely. They were all helpful and attentive. Susanne, at the front desk is a gem. She was friendly, helpful and just so friendly. She had great recommendations for restaurants outside of Portree and was so sweet to our son.

The hotel is clean and convenient, all in a standard modern style. I usually prefer old school with lots of character, but this was a last minute emergency stop. And what a great choice! The staff were absolutely wonderful - really kind and helpful. We booked late in the evening because a road closure precluded our getting back to our hotel on the mainland. The staff graciously offered us toothbrushes and went out of their way to find a restaurant that could accommodate us at the late hour. So welcoming

At check in, I was asked to pay for the stay despite already having prepaid through Expedia. I was refunded promptly once I showed the confirmation email. The hotel room itself is nice and quiet. We stayed in hoping for room service but it was not being offered. Two employees told us they are short staffed and don’t normally work the positions they were in, hence all the confusion. The rate is quite high for the lack of service and amenities you get at the hotel. Next time, I’ll look for a hotel for on the water instead.

We LOVED this property and would definitely stay again if we were in the area. The room was very clean, spacious and nicely decorated. It was a great location to walk to restaurants, bars, coffee shops and even the water. We had no issues parking and the staff were very friendly as well. It was a quiet place and we really enjoyed our stay. Definitely recommend!

Excellent hotel, beautiful views from the rooms and very attentive staff. Great bathroom and also ate breakfast here which was wonderful. Only a 5 minute walk into the centre also - would definitely recommend.

The outside of the inn isn’t much to look at but the inside is very well designed modern stylish. The rooms are all updated renovated bathrooms. Great views! Breakfast had a good selection choices to order. I got the avocado toast with eggs on it, yummy! Close to the town to walk for dinner.

Nice hotel with easy access to the town centre. Friendly staff. Pull out sofa wasn't terribly high quality and expected a better mattress for the money spent. Nice appointments throughout and breakfast was good.

Enjoyed the stay very much, no negatives. Food was excellent, and if you are not fond of sea-food (like me) provided excellent choices. Enjoyed the cocktails. The hotel was cosy but yet modern. Staff was excellent. As noted no negatives but Skye is busy and getting booked in for the hotel and a meal at their restaurant requires to be done in advance. 5 stars for us

The rooms itself were great with spacious bathrooms. The staff was uber friendly and knew us / which room we were staying throughout the hotel. The restaurant there is fabulous, we ate both dinner and breakfast and immensely enjoyed both. Would NOT hesitate to stay here again! Such a pleasure in Portree!

Perfectly clean, nice modern rooms, AC, breakfast was good. One criticism is pretty small menu for the evening food. Fine dining, meat-focused menu without much variety. Great for me, the meat eater, but couldn't eat there with my travel partner who doesn't eat as much meat, so we didn't go. Walkable to the town center restaurants, though.

Room was okay, clean, and with all comfort ( nespresso machine!). Breakfast was very well presented and varied. Nice drink list. Unfortunately, we couldn't have dinner for two consecutive days because the hotel doesn't reserve tables for its guests. No one helped us with our luggage: two floors of stairs! The check-in was chaotic and poorly managed: despite having paid everything in advance, without any preliminary check, the clerk handed us the card reader to pay again! Even just asking or verifying first would have been a courteous gesture.

Very classy place. We loved our stay in Portree and the hotel was a positive part of the visit. I searched for the best sea scallops in the town and it just so happened that the Marmalade's restaurant was very high on the recommendations. So we gave it a try. Incredible! Super quiet and clean. Staff is outstanding. The walk up the hill is a little steep but it was worth being out of the main area for the quiet. Would stay there again for sure.

By comparison the breakfast menu was good. The absence a butter knife in the place setting was surprising and missed. The bar/ restaurant is poorly designed with guests having to stand at the bar to be served amongst the diners. Overall a nice hotel, well situated with nice rooms.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Marmalade and wished we had more time to stay even longer. The food in the restaurant was some of the best we had on our 3-week trip, the views are incredible, beds comfortable, and facilities / grounds very clean and beautiful. 10/10 highly recommend!
