Touchstone Resort

This is our second weekend stay at Touchstone in Muskoka and enjoyed staying at the property again. Its in a fairly remote location on lake Muskoka so its quiet and serene, an excellent place to get away from city life. There are several outdoor activities even in winter time like pond hockey, snowshoeing, fat bikes etc. Even more options in the summer I'm sure. There is a spa and restaurant on site as well. The condo style units we stayed at have all the amenities of home, even a washer and dryer. Nice little balcony facing the beach on the lake with a BBQ which is nice. The only gripes we had while staying there were, very slow wifi. Streaming a movie at night was impossible. Had to use my mobile data from my phone and worked perfectly after. Still, if you dont have unlimited data, that isn't an option and you would have to watch local tv. The second was parking. They need to assign parking spots for customers so there isn't a battle over parking. There were several times we left for a coffee, bite to eat and activities and came back to our spot stolen and all parking spots filled. This had us parking at a different beachhouse and had to trek through the snow to get back to our room. Lastly, on check-in they tell you there is no smoking anywhere on the property. Inexcusable to not provide smokers a spot to smoke safely. I had to stand on the side of a road, next to the entrance, with vehicles flying by at 80km/h . Otherwise a pleasant place to spend a romantic weekend.

My email request for a lake side villa not met. I don't believe the email was even read by the reservation desk as it was not attachecd to my reservation file. The beach side pool was not open on the hottest days this summer which led to over crowding at the lake side pool. Not enough umbrellas in pool area.

Amenities were lacking. The "sauna" area was very outdated, dirty, and in need of repairs in several places. It was not inviting at all, and The hot tub was small and awkward to be in. I saw people just take off their running shoes and street clothes from walking from their buildings, them jumped right in. We did not see why we were paying for resort fees when there were really no usable amenities.

We visited in May 2024 when the weather was still a bit cool. It wasn't busy at all; there were only five cars in the parking lot. The resort has a restaurant with an expensive dining experience, but the food was worth it. However, visiting in July might be a different story. We loved the gym, and there were only two of us using it at that time.

The resort has good bones, but lots of little details are missed. Carpets in our room were dirty. Trees need to be pruned at the pool so the infinity pool has a lake view as it was intended. Dock bar was closed and looked like it hadn’t operated in a while. Stream room was broken. Lots of warped boards, peeling millwork, rotting wood planks, and other finer touches.

Not all the facilities where open just one swimming pool open.

The pool was not watm enough for the weather. Although i understand that we were swimming during the last week of the season, the pool walls and hot tub were covered in green algae. It was as if the pool cleaner just gave up! :(

Lovely stay on Lake Muskoka with so many amenities. We enjoyed sunbathing on the large deck at waters edge, while others swam, used the free kayaks or canoes. Two swimming pools were also available. Dinner in the Touchstone Grill was excellent.

We had a lakeside view in the beaches section. There was a pool, hot tub, large beach with shallow sandy water and kayaks and canoes. Also Tennis and Pickleball court. Pretty much everything a family could enjoy on a vacation including a barbeque. My only complaint is they don't have anywhere to lock up bicycles so we had to leave ours on the bike rack attached to our vehicle. You'll have to drive to find any hiking trails.

The perfect place for spending NY or just a winter getaway. Very nice and clean resort with a relaxing sauna, steam sauna and outdoors hot tub. The suite had a fireplace right beside the snowy balcony which felt very cozy. The receptionist was very friendly. I would definitely come back.

This hotel is the worst "resort". It functions like a one star motel. Conditions of the room are not upto standard, Our room did not have running water; water when it did run would take very long to heat up. The room was messy and dirt noted along the walls. The bathroom shower door would not properly close. Further, the window would not open to get some air! This could also be a huge fire hazard. The balcony is like a communal balcony in that the guests next door could easily walk over to our balcony as there is no real barrier. This was shocking considering we traveling with two young kids and I was concerned for anyone being able to access our unit. Do not stay here! This property is the worst we have stayed in and we visit Muskoka yearly. It is absolutely not worth value for the money. The hot tub is very small and restaurant on site is mediocre quality food, the only positive is the views of the property and location on lake Muskoka. We will not stay here again.

Friendly staff, lots of parking, clean and big rooms, amenities are cherry on top.

The rooms were absolutely immaculate and we enjoyed our stay SO much - we did not want to go back home!! We’ll definitely come again!! Everything is beautiful there!!!!

Beautiful spot surrounded by lake and trees. Pool was clean and good temp, our room was spotless.

The room had dead flies all over when we arrived. Had to call the desk to get the room recleaned

Friendly staff upon arrival we received an upgrade to a 2 bedroom suite. Unfortunately the apartment was full of dust ceiling fans were caked with dust. Water from faucets were yellow from the jacuzzi to the bathup. While the shower was on the washroom sink faucet had yellow water coming out. Could not use the washer and dryer to this problem. AC stopped working went down to reception to let the know. Maintenance came up to reset the valve. Once he opened the panel the filter was full of dust. The filter looked like it hadn’t been changed in years. Beautiful grounds and great view but not for allergy sufferers or for those don’t like a dirty apartment.

We arrived and checked in with a very friendly receptionist. We were surprised that there was no information booklet or map of resort supplied at check-in or in our room. The fridge had an ice maker. The tray had defrosted and frozen again in a huge lump and there were a few cubes on top. it must have been there a long time as the cubes smelt and tasted awful so we had to go get ice at the reception building. The door handles of the fridge were dirty and a few other things made it obvious that the room had not been cleaned properly. We cleaned some things ourselves. After a wonderful meal at the resort,we realized that there was no power to lights, outlets or the tv in the bedroom and the window mechanism was broken and could not be opened. We reported both of these things the next morning. The electricity was fixed but we were told that the window could not be fixed. We were offered another room, which we were pleased about, but the bedroom in the new room was inferior to the one we already had. There was a cupboard for hanging things but no dresser, shelves or even a luggage rack for our clothes and other items. We decided to keep our less inferior room that we could not open the window in. Compensation was suggested but the manager said that contacting Hotels.com for this was like trying to get through to NASA but he would try. We are still waiting to hear from him. We hope to hear from Touchstone or Hotels.com about our experience and compensation.

Quiet/clean room.

We stayed at a standard room and enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and had a cute little fireplace. The only small issue was that the coffee maker and the kettle weren’t clean so we couldn’t use them. The lake and the surroundings were beautiful and were at walking distance from our room. Front desk was friendly too. Overall, for the price we paid, we think that this place is worth and we definitely recommend it.

The room carpet was dirty and stained, found two cigarette butts on the deck floor, sign says $100 fine, The room walls needed cleaning. No breakfast served at resort. Check in was easy. Resort needs some updates noticed many issues that need to be repaired. Coffee in room but no tea bags, No vending machines if you need snacks The room views were spectacular,

The staff were amazing, rooms were spacious and cleaned and the views from the room balcony were just breathtaking. Can’t wait to visit again.

My booked "superior room" was nothing but a king sized bed. The patio was shared by others and my deck chairs were being "borrowed" by the people on both sides . I asked reception for a room change and waited for the manager. I assumed since I am a gold Expedia member that he would certainly would switch me rooms. Instead, I was told that "We don't do that here, just because you don't like your room, we don't move you" Long story short, I was moved and enjoyed my 3 night stay. Maybe a refresher course in customer service is in order.

View of Lake Muskoka was memorable. Kitchen was an added value so we could avoid going out for meals all the time. Conveniently close to Bracebridge. Washer/dryer in the unit was a bonus. Minor complaints were a noisy fridge and a toilet that whistles when refilling. Just a little annoying

The room was nice but a bit smaller than I expected. The view from the room was also very nice. Some negatives were that the one side of the bed had to be broken as it sank down like crazy. My husband said “it was like sleeping in a hammock”. We also used the pull out couch which wasn’t bad. The only negatives there were that under the couch has clearly not been cleaned in a while as we found paper there when pulling out the bed that was dated 2024. Also, there were no sheets or pillows for the pullout and when I asked for some, the young guy at the front desk shoved some sheets in a bag and handed it to me. No pillow or comforter were provided so we had to share pillows (they’re very large and hard) off the main bed and luckily we had a comforter in our car for emergencies so used it. I was headed into a Christmas party so I also had to drive everything down to our room. The restaurant for the Christmas party was nice though! Food and drinks were good and the staff were very nice.

You could hear people in next room. Overall a good place to stay for a reasonable price

The staff was very friendly and the lake view was awesome. The wifi speed wasn't fast enough.

The stay was amazing, my partner an I went for a winter getaway. Beautiful villa ( poor wifi connection, wifi was tripping in and out tv wasn’t work so that kinda ruined our stay we contacted some one to come an fix the connection for the tv nobody showed up) which turned us off

We enjoyed our two night stay at this beautiful resort. The views from the porch overlooking the lake were spectacular. Our room had a full kiitchen and balcony. We would not hesitate to return during the summer months.

The location is great but the standard room was very small and with no shears on the windows you have to keep the curtains closed or have everyone walking by looking into your room. Also wish there were chairs on the porch to add a seating area.

Property was bright and furnished comfortably. Desk clerks provided no map of property and no instructions. Coffee maker in room didn’t work and I never received a callback from my voicemail. I did see the front desk person and a new pot was delivered. Grounds were weedy, no mention of coffee in the lobby. Several beach chairs were torn. Sliding door screens were torn. On check out no one said how was your stay can we book you another stay. I inquired about a larger suite for another stay and no offer was made to show me one. There is no bartender so waitstaff mix drinks. Pool at the beach has trust coming through the sides from rebar and the floor is humped up. Signs say you must shower before use but no shower exists.

We love staying at Touchstone. The rooms are great and the view of lake Muskoka is amazing.

Check in was very prompt with great service. Unit was better than expected with great view. Overall very quiet. The beach area could be difficult for someone with difficulty walking.

Nice central location to many of the towns in the area, Huntsville, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Bala, Port Carling.

For fall it was amazing nice views of the water and the fall colours were amazing

Beautiful property with some of the best views in Muskoka. The trees need to be pruned back to give more rooms water views. Nice 1bedroom unit, great shallow beach for kids and deep water off the swim dock. Disappointed that the restaurant didn’t serve any breakfast, bit of a pain to go into town. Otherwise great stay!

Awesome resort, enjoyed our stay very much. Sauna and steam room were great, restaurant was top quality and reasonably priced. 10 minutes to Bracebridge was nice as well. Will definitely stay here again.

Great place for a quiet stay by the muskoka lake. No dining options inhouse, the restaurant was closed for private event. No Breakfast option.

The property is very nice. New and with all the services you need to spend a nice vacation. The restaurant is a little bit pricey and with not toomuch options.

Great property on beautiful Lake Muskoka. The beautiful weather and stunning warm water certainly helped with the positive impression. Restaurant is pleasant and food was great.

We had a pleasant experience at the property. The property was well maintained and the facilities are good ( pool area, nice dock for reading, sauna, hot tub, etc). The room we stayed was also quite good ( spacious, clean, comfortable bed). The only thing we would not recommend is the restaurant. We found it way overpriced and the portions were way too small.

Good location in Muskoka, but very hilly to walk from the beach area to the infinity pool and again to the dock areas. Pools are very small. Water activities don’t start until things are unlocked after 8am. Sad because the water is so calm earlier in the morning. Food selection is okay, but did make me violently ill after dinner. Nothing is open until noon for food and if you want a muffin and coffee for breakfast you better be there when they put them out at 8am. They do not have enough for everyone. Best to bring your own chairs too if you are in the standard rooms. You won’t have room for it inside but there is a small deck facing the parking lot, but nice enough to sit and have breakfast or drinks.

The unit was very clean and included all kitchen and bath essentials. We were on the water and a very short walk to the pool. The grill for dinner was exceptional and the atmosphere outside was relaxing
