Extended Stay America Suites - Charleston - Airport

I checked out within the first hour. Elevators didn’t work, door keys had to be reprogrammed several times, door locks were loose and jammed the door, facility was dirty, room wasn’t clean, just terrible. Staff was helpful and tried to accommodate as much as possible but ultimately they aren’t responsible for the state of the hotel, I could only assume management doesn’t upgrade anything, it’s very dated, smelled bad. Just very disappointing because I have stayed at a extended stay before and this was never the experience.

Dingy, frig leaked water o the floor. Nobody at front desk. elevator didn’t work. The reviews seem very faulty.

Building needs love.

The hotel was quite run down. The staff tried but it was evident they needed more staff and better conditions. The walls all needed to be painted. Our couch in the room had 2 large holes, the hotel itself was very run down all together.

Front office was closed most of the time. Reached the hotel around 11 PM and there was no one to give the keys. Had to call the number and had to wait for 20 mins to get someone on the phone who can give the keys. The elevators were broken for around 25 mins, I was travelling with my parents who are 75 years old who cannot take the stairs and since the front office was closed we had to just wait for the elevators

Small parking lot, parking was free. No ice machine, no pool or hot tub. Great location near restaurants and shopping centers. No dishes or silverware. No trash cans. Housekeeping only available every 2 weeks. 4 floors only. Dirty elevator. No access to the gym. Laundry room and vending available. Rooms were clean. Small beds semi-firm. Property stated free breakfast, and it wasn't available.

In all the time I was here housekeeping never mopped the elevator floor and it is filthy

no hot water

I have photos of roaches in my room, mold on the ceiling, bathroom door wouldn’t shut, elevator got stuck, bath tub was weakened, cabinets are broken

The only negative I can think of is the elevator was kind of run down and I was worried about getting stuck in it

The room was really bad. Huge spiderweb in the corner. Mold in the bathroom. Breakfast was a few granola bars and some oatmeal.

Never have I seen more disgusting conditions as I have in this hotel. On the day we arrived, we found five roaches clawing on the rug, on the kitchen counter and on the bathroom vanity. The following day, more roaches were found. Some of the pillow cases had what seemed like blood stains on them. The bed sheets had a variety of stains on them. The stench of smoking was revolting. There was even a hidden metal protruding from bed, which lead to my brother injuring his leg. Never was the room cleaned while we stayed there. When I spoke with the front desk about this, I was told point blank that they would not send anyone to clean nor change the towels. To add to that, the front desk explained they only service rooms EVERY TWO WEEKS. That same morning I complained, several other guests came down to protest about the same or similar conditions in their rooms. According to the front desk, they are short staffed. They only have one person for housekeeping for the whole hotel. For your safety, DO NOT STAY AT THIS HEALTH VIOLATION OF A HOTEL! I don't know how they have not been fined by a health inspector by now. Don't go by the photos they have advertising their rooms. The photos are not truthful. This is a hotel of horrors.

Don't stay here! An hour after my boyfriend and I checked in, we found German cockroaches on the walls, under the wallpaper, and under the furniture. We did not feel comfortable staying there, so we left. The property would not give us a refund for the night. Appliances and vents were dusty and covered in a yellow layer of tar from smoking. Stay elsewhere in the area!

The property was unkept and there were bugs everywhere, including the bed, refrigerator, and microwave.

My stay was not what I expected. I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the hotel and the cleanliness of my room. As a single female traveler I did not feel safe. The bed and pillows were not comfortable. The refrigerator had baby roaches, the water was not hot for my shower. For the price that was charged I expected more. Needless to say I will not stay at this hotel again

The worst place ever. As soon as we opened the door there was a gust of heat coming out. And once we strayed to get comfortable we began to see big and baby roaches crawling out of the ac unit and crawling around the window. We instantly went down stairs to exchange the room which they had no more of which left us to try and find another hotel at 1am. Still waiting on a refund..

It is filthy, bed bug and roach infested, dirty and run down. The smell of pot can be sensed strongly in the hallways. The only positive thing is that the staff were helpful.

There were roaches all over, coming out of the door cracks, out of the sink, broken cabinets, peeling cabinets, showers feeling like you were going to fall through, semen on the pull out bed, elevator got sick, foul and rotten smells in the hall ways, no laundry soap in the lever room.

We stayed there for three nights, and below is our feedback. pros: 1. room was clean, and as per description. 2. Close to airport and gas station, Walmart, outlets from shopping pov. 3. distance from Charleston downtown is ok - 20 mins drive minimum to go to any spot. CONS: 1. Customer service was very terrible. We reached early and was informed that room will be ready within 2 hours which is before checkin time. we went to roam around city and came after 1.5 hours of checkin time and got to know that room is still not ready and will need another 20 mins. we wanted to freshen - up and get some rest for evening but no options even no pubic restrooms. Up on asking to front desk lady - she bluntly said you can check out if you want, we were driving all day and at then end if you hear this is not at all good. 2. we got two room keys one of which never worked, which is ok. 3. Description says inside property is smoke free but could smell every where. 4. Pans and Pots were available for purchase - I don't expect this in suits, not mentioned in description too. even coffee maker was not in room/no kettle. 5. Check out experience was also same. No one as at front desk for 30-35 mins from time given. and it was not mentioned to leave room keys in room, we waited. while telling about feedback of checkin she started making excuses and was not ready to listen at all. I won't recommend this place as you don't want to ruin your mood at start of vacation and leave with same experience

Old property. Rooms need renovations. Bathroom didn't have a vent and shower also had many issues. Mattress were uncomfortable and slanted

Not the best quality hotel. The beds were hard as a rock and I had to go to the desk to ask for sheets. The floors were also moist and the bathtub was not fully clean. The place also smelled like marijuana. Do not recommend staying here for $285 a night.

The room was clean but very old and needs updating. The bathroom door could not close and the pull out couch was a twin the room could not accommodate 4 people they could not provide another room. The hallway smelled of weed plus room located over hotel laundry room so the room vibrated all night.

About what one would expect for the price, which was the lower one in the area. Would have been nice to have in room coffee, perhaps some shampoo too. There was an area for the typical breakfast buffet, but they choose not to offer one for some reason. Also, the room had a kitchenette, but the microwave didn't work at all. Just glad we didn't buy hot pockets or something and only needed to warm up pizza. Otherwise a okay.

The carpets did not look clean and dead bugs was on the floor. The beds were not comfortable and hard. The water in the shower came out slowly.

The staff were nice when checking in. The room was nice but glasses should come in the room especially when there is a kitchen. The shower did not work correctly and the towels were not that nice. Overall not bad for the price and a quick stay.

We need to start with the disclaimer that this is a very economical place; the saying applies “…you get what you pay for…”. The best thing of this place was Asia, the front desk clerk: courteous, knowledgeable, kind. All else is below average: the room decor is a visit to the 1970s. The first thing is that the kitchen is empty! Not a cup, not a pan, not a fork! Forget about a toaster! It had a two coil burner, a mini microwave and the fridge. If you want anything, it is for an additional cost. The bathroom was dirty, the curtain was place so high that when you took a shower all the water ended up on the floor, not the tub side! The floor in general was so very dirty!!! I dropped some water and when I went to dry it up the napkin came up brown in color!! The most annoying thing was the door key card and the lock. I had to go every single day once or twice to remake the key cards. I kept them away from my phone and still…. There was a morning (6am) that after walking the dog I could not get in. I had to wait 30 mins for someone to come down (desk is closed until 9am) to remake keys for me! Safety wise, I was never in danger. I walked two miles every morning and never saw danger… Stay at your own risk!

Hotel staff apologized in advance that there was no dishware/silverware in the room. The shower curtain was barely long enough to keep the bathroom floor from getting wet. There were two bath towels and two washcloths but no hand towels. The TV control did not work, so the staff provided another. The TV worked for one stint and would not turn back on thereafter; I did not bother the staff to fix it. The bed was comfortable.

Please know that despite being charged for the night stay, we could not check in at the hotel at 11:30pm because the hotel front desk was closed. I have taken pictures of the closed front desk with a board stating that the person will return soon. I waited for about half-an-hour or longer before calling the Extended Stay telephone 1 843-740-3440 on my itinerary page, but the person on phone could not locate the front desk person either. He therefore asked me to find another hotel for the night (which was very inconvenient) and asked me to reach out to the hotel again later during day time to report this situation and also to ask for REFUND. I have already messaged the hotel through Expedia chatbox three days ago, but haven't heard anything back yet. I hope I will get the refund for my "showing up", which the hotel assumes as "no show" for whatever reasons.

They told us it was too late to check in when I’ve called the hotel a day before to let them know that our flight arrived at 11:50 PM and we will head there from the airport. They left us with nowhere to go a family of 12 with children. They gave me to run around over the phone. The person who works overnight wouldn’t come down and talk to us they said they can put us somewhere else but they only have one room and that would not accommodate us. I end up having to call our hotels in that area and this is after 12:30 AM to find somewhere for me and the children to sleep

This place is understaffed. Its a two person show at this hotel. The staff is friendly but two people can't run a hotel. At night the front desk person has to do everything even if he/she has to leave desk unattended for a while

Could not check in we arrived after midnight and no one was available to check us in. We had to go to another hotel—Marriott residence inn—extended stay really let me down—they do not help late arriving guests—-they don’t like late airplane flights I guess-terrible experience-terrible service

Though staff said it was freshly cleaned, the room was not clean. There was a weird substance on the floor that got tracked all over the room whenever we walked. Multiple roaches in the room. Ms. Asia at the front desk during the daytime was very helpful. But the other front desk staff were not. We got caught in traffic and called to request a late check in. We were told someone would be there to let us check in. But when we arrived, the front desk was closed and locked -- leaving me stranded with four children and nowhere to stay that night.

Front desk was rude and said they couldn’t find my reservation - my room was ready but they made me come back after 3 anyway - the rooms around me were loud until all hours of the night

The receptionist was outside smoking weed in her car and didn't come to the counter for 15 minutes then told me they were overbooked and I had to call Expedia to get my money back

The hotel sucks. Got delayed at airport needed a room, booked online only to call and find out have to check in before 1 am or hotel is locked down and not fighting to get refund.

The staff were nice and you could tell they tried to clean, but it was so old and in such bad shape, it was almost impossible to look and feel nice. It smelled from being old, there was weed smell coming from multiple areas and I felt so not safe, we left before we could go to sleep

What I liked: Location. Everything is within walking distance. Close to the airport. What I did not like: The front desk agent was not at the front desk when I arrived. Had to wait 20 minutes to check-in. The lady was on her personal phone the whole time she was checking me in. No greetings or information about the hotels facilities or elevator location. The room was not properly clean and the refrigerator was pretty disgusting. Would I stay here again? I doubt it.

Very clean and conveniently located near everything. If you're not particularly fond of the airport being close by and seeing the planes flying low for landing wouldnt recommend that area. But, was a very nice and enjoyable trip.

Very close from the Int. Airport, restaurants, and shoppings .

It was adequate for our quick weekend stay. It was nice to have shopping and restaurants nearby, but the room/building itself was very average. Lots of people loitering around outside at all hours.

I would never stay here or recommend this location. Run down, dirty, smells like weed and cigarettes. too many people just hangin around outside.

Not a 5 star motel but good value for the money. Free breakfast was coffee and a granola bar....

Overall, our stay was ok. In my room with King size bed it had areas for improvement. In the other room with two double beds it had a plumbing issue and there was no fitted sheet for sleeper sofa. The facility advertised complimentary breakfast, there wasn’t. Laundry service available but didn’t work properly. So I give one room a 7 and a 6 for the other. The staff…Ms.Asia was.very personable and extremely nice. It was decent. It had a lot of men, especially, but people who lived there. But most were friendly.

Appreciate Amber and Asia for their great hospitality and support, but breakfast should be improved. There should be coffee 24 hours at the lobby.

Free breakfast consisted of coffee, breakfast bars, packaged muffins, instant oatmeal. No juice or milk even..

Filthy, no one at front desk, stained sheets, they didn’t serve actual breakfast- it was packaged muffins and some oatmeal. Will NEVER stay here again. Do not recommend.
