Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Stockton, IL

We arrived to checkin to find that the machine that makes room keys was broken. The front desk manager would have to open our door to let is in every time we left the room. Once he opened the room, I immediately smell a strong odor that seemed like someone had recently smoked in the room. Then the tv would not function. And there was some type of foreign material on the bedspread. I went back to the front desk and asked for a different room and he gave is the room next door, which did not have the odor. But he had to get the tv going in that room as well. In addition, the pool and hottub were out of service. In addition the elevator and vending machine and ice machine were out of odor. The elevator being down did not impact us because our room was on the 1st floor. i have stayed at numerous Country Inn & Suites over the years and have been very happy. Not this time.

Gym equipment in poor condition. Food was decent, friendly staff. Pool closed most of the time, hot tub not working and filthy. Bed was comfortable, good shower.

Elevator has been out for 4 months no ice machine or any vending machine all broke and as been for over 4 months

Outstanding customer service. The breakfast was great. The pool is great, but the jacuzzi was out. The fitness center was small and just one working treadmill and one bike. Large room with all the amenities.

The room was basic, but welcoming. I had chosen this hotel because of the fitness center. Unfortunately, this was a disappointment. There was only a few cardio machines without free weights. I was also hoping for a hot tub in addition to a pool.

Elevator was broken / we had a 2nd floor room ... ice machine was broken ... pool area bathroom was disgusting looks like it hasn't been cleaned ever.. place looks like the owners aren't attempting to keep up with maintenance

I have to question whether any of the 10/10 ratings are legit. Elevator, ice machines and vending machine are out of order. Based on other reviews, it looks like these things have been broken for months. Landscaping looks bad. Weeds everywhere.

Arrived to find both pool and hot tub out of service. A major reason we chose this property. Was told by manager that pool would be fixed by evening. Still broken and locked this morning. A courtesy email should have been sent.

We were very displeased that the pool was out of service. We chose this hotel based on the pool and hot tub. One employee told us they were waiting on parts and a different employee told us the chlorine levels were too high and they couldn't get them reduced even with adding special reducer chemicals. Put a disclaimer on the web page for cryin out loud. Is it too hard to be honest? I'm not even sure that the pool was out of order but rather too lazy to maintain it since I didn't even get matching stories on why it was closed. Other that this the hotel was clean and staff pleasant and helpful.

The room they gave us wasn't clean. There were towels on the bed and floor. Bathroom wasnt cleaned. Bed was unmade. Must have been a mistake.

Room was ok. Hallways were dirty, windows filled filled with dead flies. Breakfast was the same every day. Staff was wonderful, extremely friendly. Plenty of parking. Convenient location with stores right out front

Hotel room smelled like urine. Nobody at front desk upon entering. Just a phone that said dial 0. Ice machine, vending machines, elevator did not work. No cookies, not that I need them. Grass needs cut, all kinds of weeds. Breakfast sucked. Tv is terrible.

Very clean and comfortable. Close to all the bars and restaurants.

Very quiet and located near a number of tourist attractions. The hotel pool leaves a bit to be desired. Looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned all summer.

Staff was helpful on check-in and guided us to a delicious dinner at JJ & Freddie’s! Room was clean, quiet and very comfy beds!! Extra pillows already in the room. The breakfast had so much variety from breads, oatmeal, yogurt, muffins, 4 different cereals, fresh make your self waffles and even a hot section with sausage, eggs and potatoes! 6 kinds of tea & 3 kinds of juices. So clean through out the property including the indoor pool area!!! A must and then the recommendation after check out to the Pit-Stop for lunch. We have fallen in love in the area and can’t wait to visit again!

The shower doesn't drain very well

It was ok. Every time the AC kicked on it woke us up. Beds uncomfortable. Breakfast: had to wait for food to be brought out and when it was brought out it was cold.

I booked an upgraded room but was not impressed. Bathroom fixtures were either broken or missing. Safety latch on main room door didn’t work and windows were left unlocked (ground level room) which were difficult to lock, which left me a little bit uncomfortable safety-wise. Continental breakfast had a lot to be desired along with no serving utensils.

Right when we checked in we were told the television does not work. And no other rooms were available with working televisions. Also the room above us was extremely noisy, constant jumping and loud noises for several hours. The television not working for that many days was unbelievable.

The staff was wonderful and very friendly. The complementary breakfast was sufficient. The only holdup was the heater in the room was very loud, and the beds are too firm for my liking. Otherwise, a very pleasant trip.

We learned that that tv's were not working when we arrived and they would not be fixed until we left. In addition, the website showed a hot tub and the sign in the lobby pointed to a "whirlpool" - when I asked for hours, I was informed that it was closed. So, no tv and no whirlpool, made the stay less than desirable.

Water quality was not good. TV options were very limited.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast options were good and plentiful. Room was clean and all items were in good working order. The bedding appeared slightly worn and needed refreshing. The Stockton option was nearly half the price for the same your would get in Galena and the extra drive is scenic and worth it for the savings.

NO one was available for check in and check out. No coffee in room.

At check in I asked the clerk if there was a vending area that had toiletries in it. He sent me down the hall to and empty vending machine with an Out of Order sign on it. When we got to our room (202) the key wouldn't work so I went back to the front desk. Our sleeve said 202 on it and so he gave us two more keys. When we opened the door of 202 and walked in there was a couple in bed. I went back to the front desk and the clerk said "oops, you should have tried 204. Why would I think to do that when the sleeve had 202 written on it and he told me 202? Sal told me at that time he would make an adjustment on my bill before morning. After we finally got in 204, right next to the other occupied room and settled, we went to the pool, which was Out of Service for unknown reasons. When we went for breakfast in the morning, there were no eggs and the sausage wasn't fully cooked. The coffee (both) had grounds floating on the top and was undrinkable. When I stopped at the front desk to check out there was no adjustment made.The clerk told me he would have Sal do it later. The following day an additional charge of $20 was put on my card. I called and Sal told me they made an adjustment of $20. I explained that the charged my CC and didn't credit it. He said "ok, I'll fix it" and the next day it was taken off but another charge of $20 was put on again. I called again and got nowhere because Sal kept telling me they credited my CC $20, which they did but had also charged $20 twice

Great customer service from staff

Staff was very attentive and quick to respond to our requests for my handicapped husband. Would definitely stay again.

The hotel agrees to a refund when I was talking to the front desk then declined the request and charged my card.

The shower was nice. There was no staff available at the front desk for help. We had to wait in the lobby until a staff employee strolled by. The phone was extremely difficult to hear due to static when trying to get help on the phone. The whole experience felt like it was all self serve.

A nice budget friendly property close to Galena. A very nice antique mall in nearby Elizabeth

Property well taken care of, quiet area.

We booked through an on-line company and it was advertised only 13 miles from Galena, IL which was our destination. However, it was more like 23 miles from Galena. The bathroom had a funky smell that we never could figure out. Other than that, it was fine. Just okay - not the best, not the worst.

Seemed to be very clean. Great view outside of the hotel. Breakfast was above average. Worth the drive to stay here instead of the same chain in Freeport

I really don't know what to tell you. Check in was easy,and quick. My room was very nice. Clean and comfortable. Town was small,but had everything I needed. Gas,restaurants,and a grocery store. If I every have a need to get back that way, that will be where I stay. Good job.

Breakfast was not kept stocked. We had to wait for fresh food to be brought out. The elevator was not working when we arrived. Also had very little hot water in our room.

Property needs work. Pool was out of commission. Breakfast was terrible. No eggs left at 8:00AM? Coffee undrinkable. People stomping around in room above us at 3:30 AM AND ALL NIGHT.

Staff seemed friendly at first but, then found out that the pool and hot,tub were down for,part issues. Asked about refund or low rate and was told i was given a low rate when i my two night a month ago. Never once was informed about pool area. As I sat in the lounge area many people who, checked in were upset about not being informed of the pool conditions and asked why they were not notified in advance. Owner backed tracked and had no answers for anyone. Breakfast was a joke, the hot options were all gone and i had to go up front and ask if they were going to replenish the food as the young man was playing on his phone. He acted like I was bothering him as he stated yeah, he would be there. After some time he came over and looked and asked what the problem as and I had to go over and lift the tray to show him there was no eggs, potatoes and sausages. He said ok after he already lifted the tray before asking me. He then moved slower than a turtle crossing the street. The waffle mix was completely out as well and he acted like he did not understand why we were complaining. Reading the past reviews you will see these same issues have been going on for the past year. Amenities we’re awful.
