ibis Budget - Dandenong

As a budget motel for one night this motel fitted the bill. Standard room was very basic but clean and neat. Short of pillows. No lift to upper levels, but the young man on reception rearranged our room to ground floor to assist us and was very solicitous of my injured wife's welfare. Breakfast bar was well provisioned, plenty of parking.

The lack of an elevator for us staying on the second floor was an immediate challenge. The room was scarcely enough to get a suitcase past the bed. The images online did not accurately represent the accommodation we had on arrival. Breakfast being available (if the staff remember to set it up) from 8.00am was odd and late for anyone with things to day in the day.

It is cheap and very basic but clean and the bed is comfortable and the shower has a good water flow and temperature was well regulated. The parking is free and warning signs say you park at your own risk which is OK but there are an awful lot of people loitering in the carpark and out the front for no good reason. One tried to solicit $50 from me. The front desk is vacated at about 8:00PM and there was a fight in the stairwell beside my room in the very early hours of the morning. It is a multi story building without a lift, I was however able to get a ground floor room as I have mobility issues. The air con worked well although there is no remote and there was 2 coffee mugs but no glasses.

Someone tried to break into my car. One of the beds wasn’t made, had to ask for additional sheets to make the bed.

They have made a number of updates and the property no longer has a slight negative vibe, I would have liked to see the $5 parking charge advertised a bit clearer but was happy to pay as the car parks feel more secure. Overall, enjoyable stay!!

I stayed at Ibis Dandenong 1 night, we drove from The great ocean road and will go to Philip Island. Room was small regarding budget hotel. Room has one light and a bit darkness. No elevator and you have to carry your luggage to 3rd floor. But it is okay. Free parking. Not far from arcade which have restaurants and supermarket (COLES , Woolworth)

Poor staff and cleanliness. Vending machines not working.

The walls and the shower were dirty, towels were stained. Check in details were unclear, especially for late check in. Vending machines were broken. Had to drag luggage up 3 flights of stairs.

The room was filthy. Mould in the shower, unknown substance sprayed up the bathroom door, bedside table had not been cleaned, black hair over the bed, mould around the door. Lock on the door was broken. Mentioned this staff and provided photos, the man at reception just shrugged his shoulders. No offer to re-clean the room or fix the broken door or move to another room (they were not full). I then requested a refund and told this would not be considered.

Clean bed linen and towels, room very clean, everything worked well.

The fridge door didn’t close. Room wasn’t overly clean

Dirty rooms, old mattress, worn out, chipped furniture, bathroom had mold and was dirty. No microwave or ironing board in the room, remote control was missing, so TV didn’t work, Nothing like the photos.

After showering I sat back on the bed & put my feet up on the white doona… the bottom of my feet were covered in dark fluff & hair which transferred onto the doona… floor obviously not swept & mopped cos the hair wasn’t my colour hair!! Then woken up in the middle of the night by banging doors & I swear I could hear someone snoring…

So dirty….

Smells terrible in the hallways. Unclean. Room was tidy enough. Bed was terrible. Due for an upgrade. The gentleman at reception was there to take your money, give you your key. That was it. No customer service. Slouched in chair, bo eye contact. Nothing. Light in bathroom did not work. Had to leave door opened while showering. Wouldn't stay here again.

The hotel has good rooms for the price, and is easy to find. The room appeared clean, aside from a large brown stain (around 4cm diameter) on the top sheets - wondered if the sheets where clean or reused. The staff just performing a function, were not engaging or welcoming. The rooms are very noisy, with other users seemingly using the corridors as an extension of the room - an example walking a crying baby up and down the corridor on multiple occasions through the night - being woken up on multiple occasions by a crying baby outside the door. In the morning another guest was asking for more food items at breakfast - it wasn't being replenished. The modern conveniences aside the facility felt similar to being in a small village.

Tv not working. Hand basin not working. Wasn't clean. Kettle was not clean no power point near the bed to run cpap machine

The staff at the Accommodation were so friendly and helpful. The room was in great condition. I would highly recommend this place and would surely love to come back to Melbourne and stay here!!! Overall Excellant !!!@

Ok room for 3 people, for just sleeping, not big enough to spend much time in there. Some interesting characters stay there and in the area but quiet in the room. Air conditioner/heating unit allows cold outside air to flow into the room making it drafty. As expected for the price.

Cheap clean basic accommodation, good parking. Bed mattresses are getting a saggy and could do with replacement. Make sure you bring a 3 m phone charger cable as there are no power points next to beds.

Didnt stay as the rooms are so small and clostiphobic

The room was very tiny , not enough blankets on the bed as well as the bed wasn’t comfortable. The whole room looked like a prison cell lol

We booked this because it was an ibis and we have always had good experiences with ibis. Not this time. The pictures online are not a reflection of the room or property. The bed moved, the pillows were thin, the bathroom looked like it came from a caravan, the hand basin was on the other side of the room to the bathroom. The window had no lock and it was an old, noisy air conditioner. More concerning was that there were kids running all over the car park using peoples cars as their soccer goals. When raising this at the front desk there was no concern for other people property. Sleep was difficult as there were kids running up and down the hallways late into the night. The positive reviews we read were unlikely to be a true reflection of the experience. The positive.. sheets and towels were clean

You get what you pay for. $99 for a night you don’t expect, much the heating in the room was good and fresh clean sheets. We did have to ask for towels as we didn’t have any in our room when we arrived. Our room was right next to a communal microwave which was loud and could be heard through our way as people made noodles at 2am. Would have be nice for it to be in an area away from rooms so as no to disturb otehr guests

Very small rooms and very unorganized, this is not suitable for the family person . Only for the backpackers

Small room, window doesn’t open much, bed on wheels and no stoppers so it rolled away from the wall.

Good price tv didn’t work

A waste of time having an emergency number to ring. It went straight to mail box which was full, therefore you could not leave a message. You have failed in your WHS Duty of Care obligation which is a legal requirement.

Worst Experience, after booking online in advance, unable to check in. They are unable to find my booking, IBIS Dandenong staff were very rude ended up to book another motel

I booked one double bed for myself and my older son, and a bunk bed for my younger son. When we checked in, the reception staff were a bit rude, unfriendly, and asked too many unnecessary identity questions. When we went to the room, the bunk bed was dirty, dusty, had no sheets, and only a blanket that was also dusty. I immediately raised the issue with reception, but was told that they "do not set up the bunk bed" and that "it is what it is." When I asked for a refund or a different room, I was told it was non-refundable and that no other rooms were available. Because of this, I had no choice but to leave. Overall, it was a terrible experience.

waited 20 minutes at reception to check in because staff were on the phone about an internet issue not a great start but overall wasn't too bad for the price .

Paid for the hotel through hotels.com, have never had an issue with any until this one. I called prior to arrival and was assured all is well, they could see my booking and that my serivce dog was no issue (as she had to double check with the their "management" .. i arrived and they proceeded to check me in with no issues. Took my dog who was tired into the room we were asigned, and as i went back down to get his water and the rest of my luggage, the lady on reception stated "im sorry, you havent paid" there is nothing coming up in our system... and made me call all companies to confirm such payments had been placed and paid for. This answer was still not good enough, even the reicept wasnt enough. By this time my dog had been trapped in such a confined space for about 2 hours, as she had locked the keycard given to me. Made me call wayss in Dandenong, to which some how was transffered to the one in Werribee? To which i know i did not call, and they werent able to help me with any accommodation after having to explain my situations time and time again. Ling story short, wasnt allowed to stay, had to leave, got my dog and left.. then at 9.30pm the same day, i get a phone call asking am i coming to stay in the room i paid for? And thus expressed my concerns of travel expenses and the humiliation i was caused due to the wosrt experience, i felt i should of recieved some form of compensation, like a free breakfast or room upgrade, to which they denied and never called me back

Owner's very helpful, nice & he understands all situations, if anything needs fixing, upgrades etc he sorts it straight away. Receptionist are helpful & polite as well as the cleaner's especially the middle aged indian lady, she's lovely. Most of all ibis dandenong has upgraded alot since 2016-17. Would stay here again.

This property needs to employ a 24 hour security guard. I did not feel safe staying here and will never return.

Close to where I had to go. Good Price.

The property is in walking distance to Woolworths and some food outlets. Its an easy drive to Dandenong shopping centre. Ideal bus options for the budget conscious.

In simple terms - you get what you pay for. Staff friendly, hotel tired, bathroom not clean. Homeless people sleeping outside the main entrance when coming back to the hotel late. They were harmless but you might have other people staying there feel threatnee

Convenient location at short notice .

Cheap is cheap but this was below cheap. The place stunk and it seems families live there. Kids running around everywhere, up and down the halls knocking on people's doors and trying to open them at all hours. We yelled at them at 1am to cut it out. Our 3rd floor window restriction lock was broken and the window opened wide. Pillows were so flat and the AC which we needed on for warmth was super noisy. Don't do it... find another place to stay!

Do not recommend this accommodation at all, even though the staff are lovely the area is so rough and no security after 8pm!!! So scary for any independent travellers like myself, had to leave and stay in a friends after three nights!! People lying outside drunk (and on other stuff) and felt so unsafe going in at night time as random rough men standing out front watching you. VERY unsafe.

It was quite, that was the only good point. Breakfast was a joke.

this was over all poor no sheet changes. had to ask for fresh towels paid for breakfast but was not ready at 8 am no coffee didn't even have breakfast 2 out of four mornings as there was nothing supplied. just a poor experience. 3 sheets and a donna with cotton balls on it does not make a good bed would not recommend this place to anyone.

Paid for breakfast, got there at 0830, no fruit, pastries, cereal, pancake machine broken down, dirty tables, got handed 2 pieces of bread each& a black coffee. Will never prepay for breakfast there again. Breakfast advertised from 0700 to 0930!! Waste of $26.00 girl on desk couldn't be bothered when we asked for refund
