The view, the pool atmosphere, the tiki bar and music and people, and beach were all perfect getaway. It was simple and made relaxing easy. No bathroom by pool was tough but we made do.

For the money, the Dolphin is worth it. You’re on the beachside of Gulf Dr. and you can walk to many places. There’s plenty of cabanas in front of the hotel on a nice stretch of beach.

Very convenient to Publix grocery store, CVS, gas, bank, Starbucks etc. across the street. However, the fees were ridiculous. $25 to check in before 4 pm when the room is sitting there ready. $25 for a beach chair and umbrella that is a little closer to the gulf, (there are free chairs that are not near the water) and the resort fee $50 per day which does not even include taxes! What is that for? a towel? In addition, I have to pay $25 for a beach chair?? The housekeeping does not make beds. They just leave clean towels each day. Plus, I swear that these prices went up from when I booked. However, I liked that this place is retro and reminds me of FLA trips with my family in the 1970s, I like the live music and the vibe. I like the fridge and microwave in the room. What some guests do is eat a light breakfast in their room, and buy a cheap sand chair and cooler at CVS so they can sit where they want to on the beach and not have to pay for it, and not have to pay for overpriced water all day long.

I loved this property and will be coming here next year. Freebee is available for free transportation around st. Pete beach. The resort is gorgeous, and has two bars. And they set up a bar on the beach during the day. The amount of amenities that are provided in the resort fee is so nice, and the beach being right there is the whole reason I chose this place.

The 1st *sign* is that the name is a sagging banner, not a permanent sign as it appears in the photos. We arrived around 1 pm, ahead of the 4 pm check in. The prior day, I sent 2 messages requesting early check in, but got no response. I began calling at 9 am the day of our arrival, but all I got was a fast busy signal. On arrival, they said their systems were down and they wouldn't be able to tell us about early check in until the systems were up, but we could stay and use the pool, etc. until then. The immediate problem was that there was no parking. We told them our son was traveling from a different city to meet us and we would need two parking passes. They informed us it was one car per room and additional parking was $30. On hotels.com, it states the $56 resort fee includes parking, without any restrictions about the number of vehicles. I now see this is stated on their own website, but that is irrelevant since I booked via hotels.com. There was no parking available for 1 car, much less 2. They said parking is not reserved for guests and they sell beach parking spaces to non-guests. They told us to come back later and *maybe* there would be spaces available. *maybe* Had I known parking was not guaranteed, I would not have booked. There were no other parking options - all nearby business advised vehicles would be towed. We were going to a ball game and would not return until late. We couldn't risk not having parking, so we opted to stay elsewhere.

We stay here every year for the pool and location bc it is convenient to everything. However this year in addition to the resort fee when checking in they also placed and additional hold of $300 on my card. I questioned this because I have never had to pay it in the past. Just something to be mindful of bc no where on the website does it mention this. Also, I hate the wrist bands they make you wear, nobody wants that tan line. We Uber to the resort and use Freebee during our stay which is great but this year we had a rental for 1 day and the resort charged me $30 parking fee. I disputed when checking out and was told it would be removed but it’s still showing on my card. I’m considering staying somewhere else in the future, I visit a few times a year. Overall a good place to stay but not really fond of the recent changes that come along with new ownership. They charge a resort fee but in my eyes it’s not a resort. In the past there were snack/soda machines in the hall and now they charge $6-8 for a soda at the front desk. It’s not that big of a deal bc Publix is right across the street but if not prepared that late night drink/snack could really cost ya!

Old school charming but new school quality. Great pool bar and bartenders with great drinks and food. Daily food and drink credit is a nice touch. Front end staff amazing and just genuinely nice people. Say hello to all the bartenders when you get there. Beach cabanas are prt of the package which i used daily.

Location is great amenities to beach access very good staff very nice (need to smile a little more ) room not good needs renovations and cleaning better Some fall behind dresser and we founded very old nasty trash there it was disgusting not just that but we saw a big black spider coming out that was scary specially with kids in the room the smell in the room as well

The room was outdated and needed some deep cleaning. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling. The front desk was not friendly or helpful when I complained about the mold.

This hotel was recommended to me from a friend due to its convenience to most things and I agree- there were plenty of stores in the area to visit. The pool and beach access are the best things about the property. The hotel is outdated which is understandable, HOWEVER, the room was terrible. Awful smell in the air. Vents were covered in dust. I almost left a whole day ahead of schedule due to the dirtiness of the room. The food was not good from the seaside grill. I was offered a $15/day food credit for each day that I stayed there and didn't even use it. The food and drinks were terrible. I also want to point out the AWFUL smell inside of the one small elevator in the building. I understand that guests go in and out of it all day wet from the pool or beach but something should be done. I watched the rug in the elevator all 4 days while there and it didn't look like it was cleaned, refreshed or vacuumed once. Never again. I will take my business somewhere else in the future.

Air conditioning was broke when we checked in and had been broke. This resulted in floor and beds feeling wet from the humidity. Room smelled horrible from being closed up with no air. They should have let incoming guests know of the situation before arriving. The entire property is very outdated! We pulled back the covers and the fitted sheet had hair all over it. Our only compensation was a $50 resort fee. This is not a resort!!

We had good time, the location is great, it is close to Pharmacy, grocery store, nice Restaurants. They have live music on the pool side bar, courtesy drink and It's 30 minutes away from Tampa airport We loved comfortable pillow top bed, the cabanas on the beach and great sunset view. They inform that they will upgrade this Summer/24, I'd recommend them to add USB port ( forgot mine) and better WI-FI.

We spent extra for the ocean front, king room. The room was clean, but definitely needs updating. I think the room cost (compared to other beachfront hotels) was a bit high for that reason. Rust stains, faucet that was very difficult to turn off to keep from dripping, old decor. Not sure the extra cost was worth it. The pool area was dirty and the pool had sand at the bottom (even first thing in the morning) - maybe because there was landscaping work going on while we were there? It was nice to have the tiki-bar near the pool and the beach was very close to the hotel (no beach grass between the hotel and beach).

The view from our room was amazing and it’s clearly what I paid for. The rooms really could use a good facelift. I also felt like the hallways were very dark which made it difficult to see while walking to our room. The pool area was very nice as well as the cabanas on the beach that are reserved for guests.

Pros: Location, location, location. Friendly front desk staff. Cons: double beds (not queen), little to no cleaning services - we stayed for seven days and the room was only cleaned once… on the sixth day. Constantly had to request more toilet paper and towels. Towels for beach/pool never seemed to be available after 7 pm. Most all the wall outlets in the room were unable to hold a plug in… constantly falling. That’s a big problem for folks who sleep with a CPAP machine, not to mention making sure electronics stay charged. Washers and dryers are available for $3 per use. Unfortunately, machines ONLY take quarters and there are no coin machines. On our first use, we were able to get some quarters from the front desk. However, the next time we approached the front desk for this, the clerk said he didn’t have any and suggested we go across the street to Publix.

Great location on the beach and loved the cabanas that are available. It was nice to walk out of the patio to the pool and easily to the beach. Beds are comfortable with good linens and pillows. The room could have used a little updating. Nice place overall. I would go back.

It needs a major renovation and the ground floor rooms facing south look directly into the parking lot. I had to keep the drapes closed all the time. When I checked in I believe other rooms were available, and I would have requested a different one. There is also no hot tub. I heard several years ago when I was there that it had a new owner and there were major plans. I didn’t say anything different. For the price (even with resort fees) it wasn’t bad. Just no more ground floor rooms looking directly at parked cars.

From the photos of the room online it appeared that my beachfront room would have a great view of the Gulf of Mexico - however, they neglect to tell you that those rooms are at the bottom of a dune behind the cabana chairs so all I could see was blue and white striped chairs. Should haved chosen a room on a higher floor. But the room was large and clean and very comfortable! Had to stay after housekeeping to replace things like coffee and cups but overall a wonderful trip!!

The patio room was better than the 2nd floor room I stayed in days before. It was cleaner. The pillows are too small and the bed is way too low. And the kitchenette area says there are dishes and utensils but there is nothing there at all. The air conditioner is super noisy. I couldn't sleep well. The noise of it kicking on kept waking me up.

Asked for an early check in. Check in was GUARANTEED at 4pm…. We STILL did not get checked in until after 6pm… ruined the evening. On top of it.. really crappy hotel. This is a 2 star… Not a 3… sorry. Bad management, bad customer service, low-star amenities… the only thing this place has going is the location… that’s it. They need to make this a better resort.
Asked for an early check in. Check in was GUARANTEED at 4pm…. We STILL did not get checked in until after 6pm… ruined the evening. On top of it.. really crappy hotel. The staff at this resort are absolutely top notch. From the time you check in, the wait staff, and bartenders treat you like a valued guest. This is our second time coming and will continue to come at least once year.

After no housekeeping on the third day I called front desk and was told they were too busy and would do room next day . Room not done on Fourth day . Was told housekeeping gone for the day and would do room on next day. Fifth day no housekeeping again. Front desk said they would get it done next day . Sixth day not done yet . Saw housekeeping in hallway and was told not in t schedule. I told them the problem and she came back 30 minutes later to do room over . They were never told by front desk to clean and do bedding. Also beds were very old and uncomfortable. Heating and air conditioning woke us up because it was so loud …when it worked ! Tried breakfast in hotel restaurant. Sat us at dirty table and put drinks down and cleaned only after I pointed out the messy table . Pool area was good but if you wanted something to drink you could fall asleep waiting for a chance to order. Decided to leave a day early . Informed the the front desk on Sunday that we were leaving on Tuesday. No problem they said we will reimburse you for the last day . On Tuesday we checked out and I paid all room charges. On Wednesday I got a phone call at my home in Connecticut saying that my charge card was declined and I owed them for Wednesday. After I explained to them that I paid the the bill and went home th said they would look into it ! Spoke to management and hopefully got it cleared up with no credit for last day .

First day our reservation was not what we expected. After talking with Sundays day manager, Lauren, our accomodations were taken care of and we had an amazing stay. The only thing I would have loved to change was to stay longer. Service all around was excellent and friendly. Nobody seemed like it was just a job. Everyone was courteous and seemed to go out of their way to help or answer any questions. We are very hopeful to return again next year. Each year seems to be better and better.

My family arrived at the dolphin hotel and we were to check in at 4pm. We were told that the room was not ready, they would call or text me, I Went into the hotel at 430pm and 5pm and 530pm. I was finally checked in at 545pm. We went to dinner and I realized when we got back to hotel, every vehicle in the parking lot that they had parking passes in their windows. I was not given on when we checked in, so I went to the front desk and had to ask for the parking permit. Later around 8pm we were sitting on our patio that opened right to the beach, there was a group of high school boys that came on the hotel side of the beaçh from the public beach next door, they started a big fight. There was about 10 kids involved. It all happened about 10 feet from our area. Most of the people that stayed around us called the front desk and they did nothing finally someone called the police and the came to break it up. I will not stay at this hotel again.

Unfortunately we had a very bad experience checking in with Penny. She indicated our reservation from last November had been cancelled and offered no assistance-thanks to the quick work of Expedia it was resolved. We did share our concerns with management but Penny is still there. She was condescending, defensive and rude. Otherwise the other staff were absolutely wonderful. The property was under construction around the pool making for a very noisy environment. Hoping next visit will be better.

The staff was very rude to us at check in, the manager with Long blonde straight hair was not welcoming at all. When we had simple questions for her she rolled her eyes and scoffed at us. Felt uncomfortable. Otherwise the stay was average. Wasn’t amazing wasn’t horrible. It was just fine. Staff can be more welcoming it felt like she was judgmental

We had good time, the location is great, it is close to Pharmacy, grocery store, nice Restaurants. They have live music on the pool side bar, courtesy drink and It's 30 minutes away from Tampa airport We loved comfortable pillow top bed, the cabanas on the beach and great sunset view. They inform that they will upgrade this Summer/24, I'd recommend them to add USB port ( forgot mine) and better WI-FI.

For the money, the Dolphin is worth it. You’re on the beachside of Gulf Dr. and you can walk to many places. There’s plenty of cabanas in front of the hotel on a nice stretch of beach.

This place is a little retro, but its location with a comfortable pool and cabanas on the beach is ideal. A new Starbucks and grocery store across the street, along with multiple nearby dining options add to its appeal. Staff is friendly and accommodating. We have been here several times and will strongly consider returning. Cleanliness of the property is an issue, though, as common areas such as stairways and corridors are not well maintained. Also, poolside crowd is normally well-behaved, but it can get rowdy at times, with no visible management intervention to discourage unruly behavior.

Location, location, location! Everything that we wanted to get to was walkable. Additionally, there is a "free" shuttle service on Gulf Blvd that takes you up and down the main road and only asks for tips as compensation. The pool is warm and inviting. The Beach bar is friendly with great service. Teresa was fantastic! I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes an annual trip to escape the winter cold.

The staff was exceptionally helpful. The nbeach was nice. The restaurant was odd. It closes at 9 on week days and no one is happy to see you at 8:45 either, but this is a beach resort where we didn’t really want to come in to eat till after sunset. One day breakfast toast came with just one slice, the next two…same price, and then they are closed between 11 and 12, which is fine but then…what if that is your only lunch time? The rooms were good but odd in that there was no towell rack…again its a beach. We had a million towels to hang after a few hours

This hotel was recommended to me from a friend due to its convenience to most things and I agree- there were plenty of stores in the area to visit. The pool and beach access are the best things about the property. The hotel is outdated which is understandable, HOWEVER, the room was terrible. Awful smell in the air. Vents were covered in dust. I almost left a whole day ahead of schedule due to the dirtiness of the room. The food was not good from the seaside grill. I was offered a $15/day food credit for each day that I stayed there and didn't even use it. The food and drinks were terrible. I also want to point out the AWFUL smell inside of the one small elevator in the building. I understand that guests go in and out of it all day wet from the pool or beach but something should be done. I watched the rug in the elevator all 4 days while there and it didn't look like it was cleaned, refreshed or vacuumed once. Never again. I will take my business somewhere else in the future.

I thought the facility was very nice. We had a great time the only disappointment was trying to get into the restaurant. There was a long wait & there were many many tables available so we just went elsewhere instead of waiting. Maybe need more staff in the dining room.

Warning - on top of your Orbitz charge there will a RESORT FEE. Otherwise things were very nice - beautiful beach, nice pool. The service at the bar and restaurant is very slow and the quality is not a great value..

Amazing, outside bar staff was amazing as well, both shifts. Was a volleyball tournament outside my room i was unaware of... Breakfast restaurant was tasty,front desk pleasant.

My husband and I have returned to Dolphin for many years due to the location on the gulf for the price. It was always no frills, but we were fine with that since it was clean, the beach was perfect-never crowded, never an issue with spring breakers and the walkability to everything the area has to offer. Unfortunately unless things change considerably I think it may be our last visit for the following reasons: 1. Despite booking well in advance, only 2 double beds were available. I did know this when I booked, but was hoping to upgrade. When I spoke to desk staff, they stated that the majority of the rooms held double beds. The rooms are actually quite large and could certainly accommodate 2 queens or a King. My husband is 6’3”! 2. The drink prices for what u get. The staff was friendly enough, but the drink prices were too high for a hotel of Dolphin’s caliber. I’d be ok with a $15 drink, but not for a weak one. I even paid extra for a double and a tip, making it over $20 for 1 drink, and it was STILL weak. Major bummer. 3. Housekeeping. I understand that hotels do not change sheets daily anymore, but in 7 days, we had only 1 sheet change. The second change was supposed to occur on the 7th day, but by 5pm no one had come, and my husband had to hunt them down. Overall we still enjoyed ourselves but sadly, unless things change, we will need to find a new place to stay.

This is a nice old Florida resort. It has everything you need for a Florida resort vacation. It sits on the beach and has a beach bar/grill. It has shuffle board, bean bag and ladder ball games. The outdoor swimming pool is 81 degrees and so enjoyable to lounge in. Musical entertainment is brought in three days a week. There is a restaurant and lounge on site. The trolly and bus stop is next door to the property and a Publix Supermarket is across the street. Excellent resort experience.

We arrived late and the AC didn't work. They sent maintenance up to fix it in the am. Put a whole new system in! It worked wonderful!!! The only thing I can recommend is with the towels. People leave towels everywhere around the pool. There should be a bin in the pool area to throw the towels in. Or when getting towels from the front next, get room number and if towels aren't returned then they pay for them. Every other hotel does that. It just makes the pool area look dirty. Also, you get $15 credit a day if you eat at the restaurant. Last nigh I was there I asked to use 1 credit. After receiving my receipt I realized they never took the credit off. I would have gone somewhere else to eat because the food isn't the greatest and prices are high but I wanted to use the credit. The overall area is great! Close to a lot of things!
