Our experience at the Pier Hotel was absolutely outstanding. The facilities were excellent, and the supporting staff were very helpful and accommodating. We intend to stay at this hotel every time we come to Sidney by the Sea.

A beautiful room looking over the bay. There are many paved walk ways to walk, shop, dine, and benches to sit and relax. Room amenities had flaws. The towel warmer did not work. The coffee/tea maker did not sense coffee pod until the third selection attempt. The heavy black out curtain did not glide smoothly across track and stopped short at the corners of window. The TV. remote required an app and wifi is not secure enough, so we went without. The passcode for public washroom was printed illegible (should be typed because most young people do not print or write well due to high use of computers.) Room robes were very soft as were the towels. Shower door leaks water which created a slippery tile floor when stepping over the tub. The bed was not a comfortable mattress and pillows were not comfortable for back, stomach, and side sleep positions. Housekeeping did a wonderful job. However the maintenance department is not keeping up with repairs. Plus charging guests for parking is not okay especially if not told there will be a fee. I paid a lot of money for so many small room issues that usually occur at less expensive hotels.

The hotel is beautiful, check out the living walls in the lobby seating area. The view from our very quite room was perfect. The staff was more than welcoming, they made us feel wanted and cared for. The decor of the hotel is attractive and upscale without being pretentious. Being in the heart of the city everything is a brief walk. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious with a nice espresso maker. The bathroom was large and the tub was the largest, most relaxing tub of any hotel I have stayed in. Do take a bath, then dry yourself with the warm towels from the hot towel rack. Beds were comfortable especially if you bring your own pillow to make you feel at home. This hotel is worth the price and the time spent. Restaurant tip: Must try the Riga restaurant just across the street, but do make a reservation, you won't be disappointed.
