Hostal Almanzor

We booked a room at the Hostal but we found we had been moved to an ‘Appartment’. Nearby. It was closer to the center of the city, but hidden away and not anything like the hostal rooms. Also the hostal emailed to say my booking would be cancelled if I did not pay before arrival, for. Payment on check in booking. When I called to pay, they did not speak English or French, my only two languages. Not sure what the hostal room I booked was like as I never saw it.

Room was freezing even with heater. No parking

The hostel is in a great location for seeing the sights in Cordoba. The room was clean and authentic to Spanish tradition, great shower. It was noisy as we were on the ground floor so could hear the cars and passersby. We could also very easily hear our neighbours and smell their smoke.

The hotel needs to explain there are no elevators and the stairs are steep. There's only one pillow across the whole bed so uncomfortable for 2. No one there to greet NOR properly explain that you must go to the hotel BEFORE trying to park in their garage. The linens smelt of cigarettes. Room is very tiny.

The location was really good; close to mini-supermarket, restaurants, main tourist attractions. However, there was a strong smoking odour in the reception area, and, at least one night, we smelt smoking odour that we suspect was coming from a nearby room. There was an ashtray in the bathroom even though the hotels.com listing says non-smoking; mixed messages!
