Desalis Hotel London Stansted

Move setting. Expensive shuttle bus which doesn’t run in the afternoon. No reception phone, no info booklet in room and no hairdryer. Basic but cheap!

Airport noise was too much in our room. Even with the window closed, which with no Aircon, was not likely to happen until at least 11pm in the summer. They stopped about 02:40 and started up again at 05:45. Breakfast was extremely basic, no eggs, no staff to ask or guide us. Table was cleared for us to sit and eat, but I had the last of a coffee pot and it wasn't refilled, so I got told off by the wife. Lovely setting and plenty of parking. Wasn't aware of the £6.20 charge for parking. When we arrived, no sign of anyone at the desk. After standing around for 10 minutes the shuttle bus arrived back from the airport and the gent driving it checked us in. The lack of requisite staff apparent then as for breakfast. Shame really, because it was a huge room with a nice, generously sized bathroom too, in a beautiful setting.

Perfect for what I needed. The staff were great, they made me feel welcome. The shuttle service I really did appreciate, they collected me from the airport within 10 minutes of me calling them, and then 4am the next morning they took me back to the airport and was even ready for me 10 minutes early. The bar I had some juices and again great service. I really enjoyed having a smart TV in the room, YouTube was awesome to be able to watch on the big tv. My only complaint is the heating, it was not turned on until 7pm and before that it was really cold in my room, I was unable to shower until the heating was on which was inconvenient as I wanted to be asleep by around 7pm due to waking at 3am. Also the bathroom didn’t have much in the was on accessories like conditioner/ shower gels etc . I was provided with half used bottles which was not nice. It felt like I was using someone else’s waste. So I’d definitely suggest heating to be at guests discretion for the price paid and also give new shower gels etc. but overall great stay and will definitely stay again as I travel 6-8 times per year.

Not particularly efficient. Rip off parking for £8.50 when there is nobody around who would try to park there for nothing. Parked across the road.

Only overnight but handy shuttle bus for airport

Bed was extremly uncomfortable, left there with a very bad back. Parking machine wasnt working. We paid inside but still got a fine. Too much fuss for a relaxing short break.

Perfect for a stay before your flight, quick check in and the room had everything needed. Although you had to pay parking which was frustrating, especially when you’re up at 3 and don’t stay the whole night to catch a flight.

Nice hotel big rooms.much further from the airport as i through as im walking they do have a transfer car but expensive 15pounds

The whole property is encased in scaffolding and the outside is obviously being totally refurbished. The inside definitely needs refurbishing- everything is tired. Thank god we arrived late and only stayed one night. In our bathroom the toilet roll holder had fallen off and been removed leaving the bracket. Had a double sink - one had the pop up waste stuck closed and the tap had the nozzle missing so when you turned it on it sprayed all over the floor. The glass shelves were hanging off and a few missing. At £84 plus £6 parking for a family room for 3 it was a rip off. Give it a miss.

Parking was available for a fee, but it was reasonably priced (£6.20 per night) and there were plenty of spaces. Overall, I had a good stay there.

The decor was 1989s Room smelt musty, sheets on bed were dirty and the mattress had a big yellow stain in the middle felt dirty and smelly. Furniture was old and looked poorly maintained bathroom had broken holders and looked dated. Staff were friendly but the Hotel was very poor.

I didn’t have breakfast but the service was very friendly and the rooms very comfy and clean.

Hard bed. Dirty floor. Had a shower walked across floor and feet dirty again. Needs redecorating as well. looked drab

First of all I think my room was not cleaned or normally cleaner didn’t clean enough. I didn’t complain that time cos I stayed there only few hours and I was totally tired. But there were someone’s hair fallen on the bed and also in the bathroom. The bathroom was clean than my low expectation but someone didn’t flush his thing. Also I struggled with the door lock. When I locked the door, it sticked to each other. I know the price is cheap but if u think about the uber money.It’s not that reasonable.

Very convenient for airport. Didn’t use bar/restaurant. Bathroom could have been cleaner. Sink didn’t drain

The room's overall cleanliness is terrible, I must say. Mainly, their carpet looks very old and dirty, maybe that is the reason for having dim lights in the room. No shower products at all. I think the price of the room is not worth it.

Hotel is generally okay. Entrance and lobby are smart. Staff welcoming and grounds nice. The bed was on the small side for a hotel; yes it’s a double room and there was a double bed but plenty of room to fit a king size. Having said that, bed was comfortable and clean. No extra pillows to be found. Not known if they could be provided by reception on request but who wants to venture out of their room in the middle of the night to ask when you’re settled in? I found the room to be well insulated from outside noise including aircraft. I had a decent sleep. Friends had 2 rooms at the other side of the building however and they were woken by a fight at 4am which is less than ideal. The room was very dated in terms of decor. Only one bed side table so had to put my stuff on the floor which isn’t the end of the world but is somewhat inconvenient and makes the room look messy. There had clearly been a water leak in the bathroom at some stage and the damage was seemingly painted over before it had dried leaving a mass of flaked paint on the wall as well as a warped bathroom door which didn’t close properly. No hand towel in the bathroom meaning a a damp towel was all I had after my shower. Bath was unclean and plug hole full of hair. I decided to brave the shower but found the bath filling up to the extent that the water, mixed with who knows what from previous occupants’ hair lapping at my ankles meaning I had to rinse my feet off under the tap. Rest of the room okay.

We liked where the hotel was located, it was private and quiet. We liked how clean and nice the panorama Rooms were. We think the WiFi needs to be better as it kept disconnecting and the Service was not very good. We liked that the TV was Bluetooth and had Netflix etc..

Basic hotel, suitable for a one night stay, in need of updating, could do with at least a fan in room.

Was told we would get wifi and soundproof rooms. Couldn’t connect the TV to the wifi, spoke to the manager who tried the wifi from outside the door and said it worked so the TV just doesn’t have it. Next morning, cleaners just let themselves into our room whilst we’re still there saying “check out is 11” when my email clearly says 11:30 (this happened at 11:10). Luckily I was standing by the door to be able to half shut it and not allow her in! Beds are so uncomfortable too, I could feel the springs in my back and I could hear everything going on in the room upstairs so definitely not soundproof

The reception was tiny and it was just the 1 member of staff running that and the bar/ restaurant area. He was friendly enough. Our room was a nice size and had what looked like freshly laid carpets. Unfortunately the mattress let the bed down, being a tad hard and you could feel the springs. We had a late dinner which was very basic, but tasted ok and reasonably priced too. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss. We were really looking forward to some fresh coffee, but had to settle for instant. Only sausage, beans and bacon for hot choice and you had to ask for eggs. Otherwise there was bread for toast, butter and jam. Yoghurts and a couple of basic cereals and juice. Not bad for the price, just the service let it down with the 1 guy trying to do it all. Fix the flickering lights !

I didn’t have breakfast but the service was very friendly and the rooms very comfy and clean.

We arrived very late in the night, just after 3am. There was no one on the desk for 20 minutes, despite calling twice. I was not impressed and to add insult to injury, there was no apology either when the receptionist did arrive. It is advertised that the hotel is open 24/7. Other than that, the stay was fine.

Great receptionist. Particularly the young guy. Helped us check in early.

easy access to the airport and there is a bus directly goes to the airport . and the check in was smooth. good stay prior the flight

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Ideal location if needing to stay close to airport to fly out. Hotel is clean, basic and close to Stansted. It's worth availing of the hotel's airport transfer service for an additional charge. Though the hotel is only 1.2 Kilometres from the airport, it is situated in the countryside with narrow, winding roads with no lights or pedestrian path / sidewalk and really not accessible when carrying luggage. Airport taxi charged us £25 for a 6 minute cab ride. They cited an airport premium charge. Stick to the hotel transfer service which is much cheaper.

It needs upgrading, but it was good for the stay before the early flight. Very close to the airport.

This was a good find for a few hours sleep before an early flight There were a few noisy guests but I don’t know if my room in ground floor is why I seemed to get all the noise. Would I stay here again- yes, the cost per night and location to airport makes it worth it

Stayed here for 1 night ahead of flying from Stansted Airport in the morning and it was very reasonable for the price although saw some mixed reviews about the transfers organised by the hotel so decided to walk to and from the airport - wouldn't recommend as there are no pavements and even by taking a 20 minute shortcut via a cut through the hedges near The Stables/Short Stay Blue Parking, the walk was still 40 minutes to the terminal at minimum. However, the hotel itself was pleasant as staff were friendly and the room was spacious and clean.

Adequate place to stay over night when travelling from Stansted. Quiet, beautiful surroundings. Food a little disappointing for the price they were charging.

Breakfast was fresh but little option

Booking in was alright. The room was clean enough but I don't think that the floor had been swept in my room. Breakfast was limited but adequate. Chef had many duties to perform.

The lobby looks like it's had most of the money thrown at it whilst the food menu is expensive it's far cheaper to order from Domino's down the road in bishop's Stortford.
