Claverton Country House Hotel

Small hotel in a pretty setting . It feels more like B&B rather than a hotel . We walked to a local vineyard-Carr Taylor via back roads . However , not much else in safe walking distance as on a very busy road if you turn left and if you turn right is hire country lanes the exception of the vineyard . If you driving or ubering or walking 10 miles plus this is a good base . Slept ok . Ate there for evening meal - Resturant onsite but very English pub grub style .

Lovely and quiet location with comfortable, clean rooms, a good breakfast and with safe parking. The country house is just off the A21 within an easy drive from Hastings and St. Leonards. I would be happy to stay there again.

Claverton was very easy to find and in spite of being very close to the A21, there was no traffic noise. We had a good welcome, by name!, and all our questions were answered. Our room was large, spacious, warm and very comfortable. We were impressed by the attention to detail, plenty of storage for our luggage, art deco style door furniture, many plug sockets, a close up mirror in the bathroom. In spite of the bar being closed in the winter, we were offered and served drinks in the bar area. In the morning breakfast was wonderful, with a great menu. The fact I suffer from Coeliacs disease was taken seriously and gluten free toast provided - cooked separately from ordinary toast. The member of staff went over and above to support us with a personal issue. The gardens are delightful - even in the rain! All in all our stay was an extremely positive experience. Thank you to all concerned.

The Claverton House Hotel is a lovely, small hotel with good parking, with wonderful grounds and is well located for trips to Battle, Hastings and the Carr Taylor Vineyard. Our family group spent one night in 2 luxury rooms - modern, spacious with king size beds. We had an enjoyable dinner - a good selection of menu options at reasonable prices - and excellent freshly cooked Full English breakfasts. The service by the generally young staff was efficient and friendly.

Beautiful quiet hotel in a lovely and green location. Our room was spotless and very comfortable. Will definitely go back again! Highly recommended

This hotel is lovely. In a really lovely lication with truly beautiful gardens. We only booked 1 night anf the hotel receptionist was very friendly and sweet. We had a room in the main part of the hotel which overlooked the garden. The view was delightful. Bunnies hopping around and beautiful birds flitting in and out of trees. We had drinks in the afternoon outside in the sunny, warm garden. The room was a reasonable size. Large, very comfortable bed with very cozy covers and pillows, snuggly. The bathroom was a good size, no window but bright enough with the light on. A great size shower which was easy to use and get the right temperature. However, the mirror above the sink is situated too high and I could not see anything apart from the top of my head. I\'m 5\'6" so not short by any means. Also, the toilet seat did not fit properly on the loo and it felt likevyou could fall off easily. Something should be done about these two issues I think. The worst thing though, is that there was a lot of dirt on the floor behind the sink pedestal. This had obviously not been cleaned properly for some time as the build up was quite bad. It\'s a shame they haven\'t paid clise attention to these things because everything else was lovely. We had breakfast too and the food and service were very good. It was priced reasonably but would have been better with some attention to detail.

We would definitely stay again at this Hotel , Not only was it in a beautiful setting but a convenient location should you wish to visit Battle Abbey, Hastings etc. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and were even kind enough on the day of our check out to set up a TV up in the outdoor Bar area for us to watch the England Women's World Cup Final . Lovely country feel inside and out of the Hotel and very good food.

The staff are lovely it’s a quirky little place but we didn’t want to spend hours driving. Great food, lovely room nice and warm too. Stunning gardens

I had a rash all day yesterday due to bed bugs in the hotel bed! I called the hotel yesterday, they said they will check and come back to me, no one came back to me!

Very clean in a beautiful setting with helpful and friendly staff. There was some noise as people went upstairs and the bed was a little to solid for a relaxing sleep.

Stayed in the garden suite. Very spacious, clean room. Comfortable and friendly staff. Arrived early and left my car in the car park, was offered to check in early however we was in a rush so didn’t take up the offer but it was appreciated. Very easy to check in and check out. Friendly staff. Would definitely stay again.

I chose this small hotel because it was in a quiet location and the grounds looked fantastic. I knew the room was described as small but it was really small. They have a beer garden in the front which they have offers on food and drink which brings in people from the near by camp site so it was very noisy with a lot of children And the next night there was a wedding so we could not use the garden. The back grounds are fantastic but my quiet weekend did not work out has planned. Customers should be informed if their is a wedding booked on the dates they stay so they can make an informed decision.

The property was very clean and the room was brilliant. The horrendous noise when someone went up the stairs, which was inside my room (boxed in) woke us up at 1am one evening and 2am the next evening. The floorboards were extremely creaky and the noise of this was unacceptable. We were also above the dining room so we could hear the people downstairs and the moving of tables. Our room was in the landing which was open and the reception was directly underneath. Sadly we heard the phone ringing all the time as constant talking. Unfortunately this made our stay note pleasurable as we initially thought it would be. The grounds were amazing but the noise was unacceptable. It was not like being in a hotel it was like being in a house with thin floorboards and walls.

Small to midsize rooms with too much furniture . Adequate hot breakfast . Staff members did volunteer to help us with our luggage , which was very nice .

Lovely old manor house, comfortable -- despite heatwave conditions without a/c. Ground floor room highly suited to my restricted walking, but rather cramped. No fridge or safe. Toilet bowl too close to one wall of en-suite. Very difficult/dangerous exit from side-lane onto main road

Long weekend away in the sunshine. Found hotel online and it was great value. Staff were fantastic and room was just what we needed. Great location for visiting Battle and Hastings. Would happily visit again. Thanks for the warm welcome and great service.

The stay was for my husband’s birthday and I emailed beforehand to ask if we needed to book for dinner - I didn’t get a response which wasn’t the best first impression. We were told the owners were in the Canaries on holiday. The hotel was very quiet as apart from us there weren’t many guests staying. You didn’t see many staff and if you wanted anything you had to ring a bell. However all members of staff were friendly and helpful. Dinner was ok but we were asked about 4 times if we had finished when it was clear my husband was still eating so that was slightly annoying. At breakfast the following morning I asked for yoghurt to have with the lovely fruits on offer as it was on the menu, only to be told they didn’t have any as the order hadn’t arrived, so that was disappointing. The cooked breakfast was fine apart from very over cooked bacon. The website is deceptive as it is clearly not up to date. The luxury toiletries were two very small bottles, one shampoo and one shower gel and some cotton wool pads. The bathroom cabinet door wouldn’t open and you had to stretch up to the top to get your fingers to prise it open and the bathroom door didn’t close properly so was noisy if you had to visit during the night. The gardens are lovely and we did manage to sit outside with a drink (mid October) when the sun shone briefly before the storm. The hotel is a bit like staying in someone’s lovely home and although we did enjoy our stay, we wouldn’t stay again.

A quiet , comfortable and cosy hotel which is ideal for exploring the local 1066 countryside and beyond into the south coast at Hastings, Bexhill, Rye areas It’s small, but everything they do is great The staff are lovely I particularly want to commend Toby for being so accommodating and helpful after I checked in very late one evening I’ve already booked to come back when I’m next in the area

Pleasant hotel with decent public areas. Food good in restaurant but not able to sample breakfast as this was too late for business guests. Room very warm and difficult to cool even with supplied fan. Quite a tricky exit/entrance from main road depending on time of day. Staff lovely and made to feel welcome during the stay. Good value for the room chosen and overall a good experience.

Full English Breakfast was not good two days running. Hotel itself was first class, furnishings and room superb.

Lovely room, great breakfasts and a lovely meal ! The staff were friendly and the hotel was clean and comfortable. The bedroom was a great size with a really comfortable bed and plenty of space to sit and read. The cooked breakfasts were lovely and really set us up for the day. We only ate in the restaurant once and the food was good - the menu is perhaps more of a “bar food” menu than a hotel restaurant but the choice was good and it was very tasty and good value

Lovely rooms, need a bath sheet, bath towel too small. Breakfast a disaster. How can you run out if eggs. Breakfast roo too small. Add a conservatory or knock thru into bar room. Lots of future potential., but work on the basics please.

Very happy with our choice of hotel. Was glad we upgraded to the king room. Very comfortable and met all our needs. Had evening meal in the restaurant, very good also catered if you did not want anything too rich, more down to earth dishes on the menu too. Breakfast again was very good, good produce, nice and hot, all cooked to order. Well worth a visit.
