Great staff and right in the centre of town. Old hotel full of character. Only downside is that there is no parking any more, this used to be a real bonus.

We had a really nice stay, the breakfast was good and the hotel is nice and quirky. The room didn't look like its had been vacuumed, there was a hare clip in the middle of the floor. The location is perfect for Dartmouth's attractions. Beware that the hotel doesn't have any parking and there are no long stay car parks in Dartmouth.

We had a great time in Dartmouth and our stay in this hotel. Our room was a generous size and the staff were superb, very friendly and helpful. The breakfast choice was outstanding and delicious. The hotel is right in the centre which is great for walking around the town, but make sure you arrange parking before you leave as it’s difficult to park close to the hotel

Great location and convenient. Parking is difficult. Room was clean and tidy. Bed comfortable. No net curtain so either on display or closed blackout curtain. Couldn’t have window open as it was very noisy (boiler, air con or extraction system) and air con was noisy too, so not good for a relaxing lay in! Bathroom needed decent repairs/silicone and some bleach around the taps! Breakfast coffee weak. It wasn’t worth the money.

we were disappointed on arrival that we had been booked into the worst room in the hotel. 4th floor attic room, no lift and an wife who struggles on stairs. we asked for another room lower down and were given a second floor room but had to pay more than double what we had booked for.

Everything was fantastic...except our room was attic room with an air conditioner that did not work. It has been broken for some time as there is a laminated sign advising not to use. We also had the seagulls right outside the window, squawking. I think management should rectify these two issue, first fix the air conditioner and second put some netting up over the chimney stacks so the birds can't perch up there. It's a poor decision from management to be booking out this room until these issues are resolved. Otherwise, it's a wonderful place to stay.

This hotel is located in an ideal location in the centre of Dartmouth. The staff were particularly helpful and pleasant. The room was a bit dated and tired but clean, the only window was looking inward over the internal courtyard and it did get a bit stuffy late at night but aircon is available. The breakfast was good and the restaurant has a nice view overlooking the harbour. No parking but the park and ride drops you 100m from the hotel so not a problem.

Room 25, Top of the hotel, small room ,view is a dirty glass roof Shower very small 6’3 husband struggled to use. Window in bathroom so dirty you couldn’t see outside. Staff lovely. Room not worth the price . We would not stay here again

We had an amazing stay, the location is perfect, the building has a deep history and unique and authentic style, the room was comfortable, clean and well appointed, the breakfast was freshly cooked with an excellent choice and the staff were friendly, attentive and we're always happy to help. The whole place has a really wonderful feel in all areas. We would happily stay again and would highly recommend it in all areas.

This is a very tired hotel in urgent need of a major refurbishment and staffing levels seem inadequate resulting in delays, breakfast can take up to an hour to complete In our 4 night stay our bedding was not changed and our room was dusty and at the top of 7 flights of stairs overlooking a shabby fire escape with a tangled hosepipe left there to trip us up if we needed to escape that way

The hotel was very nice,decorated well. The staff,especially Lena,were very helpful. The downside was our room,we knew it would be small but it faced into the inside of the building and had no openable window.It was very warm in there and felt claustrophobic.Not even a glimpse of the outside world.

What a fantastic hotel! We were welcomed warmly and made to feel relaxed from the word go. Our spaniel was given an even better welcome and a gift was waiting in the room. I won’t spoil the surprise. We will certainly be staying at the Royal Castle again. Thank you to all your staff.

I enjoyed my stay at the Royal Castle Hotel. The Hotel is warm, cosy and interesting with pleasant, responsive and helpful staff, a good bar and dining facilities and an excellent breakfast. Its setting is attractive and convenient for exploring the town and the area.

We had a really nice stay, the breakfast was good and the hotel is nice and quirky. The room didn't look like its had been vacuumed, there was a hare clip in the middle of the floor. The location is perfect for Dartmouth's attractions. Beware that the hotel doesn't have any parking and there are no long stay car parks in Dartmouth.

This hotel is located in an ideal location in the centre of Dartmouth. The staff were particularly helpful and pleasant. The room was a bit dated and tired but clean, the only window was looking inward over the internal courtyard and it did get a bit stuffy late at night but aircon is available. The breakfast was good and the restaurant has a nice view overlooking the harbour. No parking but the park and ride drops you 100m from the hotel so not a problem.

We had a great time in Dartmouth and our stay in this hotel. Our room was a generous size and the staff were superb, very friendly and helpful. The breakfast choice was outstanding and delicious. The hotel is right in the centre which is great for walking around the town, but make sure you arrange parking before you leave as it’s difficult to park close to the hotel

Great location and convenient. Parking is difficult. Room was clean and tidy. Bed comfortable. No net curtain so either on display or closed blackout curtain. Couldn’t have window open as it was very noisy (boiler, air con or extraction system) and air con was noisy too, so not good for a relaxing lay in! Bathroom needed decent repairs/silicone and some bleach around the taps! Breakfast coffee weak. It wasn’t worth the money.

Great for getting to be train and ferry. Ideally located with great views overlooking the harbour. Breakfast was excellent although we didn’t experience other dining options. Staff were very friendly and the property was historical and full of charm. Would thoroughly recommend a stay but as far as we are concerned it would preferably be in an external room.

We enjoyed our stay but didn't like number's of dogs allowed to enter the eating area. It is rather disconcerting to have a large dog drooling over every mouthful you take. Also stock levels of several non alcohol were very poor. It is no use being told the delivery is next Monday I would like my drink now.

We had an amazing stay, the location is perfect, the building has a deep history and unique and authentic style, the room was comfortable, clean and well appointed, the breakfast was freshly cooked with an excellent choice and the staff were friendly, attentive and we're always happy to help. The whole place has a really wonderful feel in all areas. We would happily stay again and would highly recommend it in all areas.

This is a very tired hotel in urgent need of a major refurbishment and staffing levels seem inadequate resulting in delays, breakfast can take up to an hour to complete In our 4 night stay our bedding was not changed and our room was dusty and at the top of 7 flights of stairs overlooking a shabby fire escape with a tangled hosepipe left there to trip us up if we needed to escape that way

Step back in time. Needs a bit of a refresh but has character. Pleasant place to stay but quality of food provided in our opinion was average at best. So if everywhere is booked up for evening you will find a table here, but don’t get excited.

Only grumble was shower didnt get hot room 32, just warm and the kettle needed persuading to stay on. Please start breakfasts at 7 or 730am so business users can get up and go

I enjoyed my stay at the Royal Castle Hotel. The Hotel is warm, cosy and interesting with pleasant, responsive and helpful staff, a good bar and dining facilities and an excellent breakfast. Its setting is attractive and convenient for exploring the town and the area.

The room was over 35 degrees with no air conditioning. The bed was hard and very uncomfortable. For the price I expected something much more than was delivered.

This hotel does not have any air conditioning despite what it advertises. We deliberately booked this hotel for the AC given we were travelling during the heatwave with a baby who suffers from bad heat rash. On arrival we were given one fan. The window barely opened for safety reasons. When we complained we were told that they consider AC to mean fan. This is incredibly untrue, misleading and ruined what was otherwise a wonderful stay.

We love the quality and finish on the recent upgrade to the hotel - the room was very clean, well appointed and fabulous. Staff were very helpful and breakfast was superb. My only negatives are that there was no means of contacting reception from the room and there was no notepad/pen, which ironically I needed.
