From the moment we arrived we felt a sense of tranquility. The staff were welcoming and attentive. This place really is a hidden gem. Beautiful grounds with a lovely pond and ducks. Inside was just as appealing with a working waterwheel. We had a lovely meal and room was very comfortable. Will definitely stay again

Absolutely beautiful restored old mill lovely and clean , comfortable good food and friendly staff .Also the grounds of the hotel were breathtaking so lovely to walk around the lake and see the peacock and ducks would definitely return .

Excellent overnight stop ideally situated in quiet location on route back from Cornwall to Surrey. The mill is an historic building so our room and layout reflects this. We had pleasant evening meal seated next to the working water wheel and full English breakfast the next morning. All staff were very friendly and helpful

Absolutely fantastic. As we checked in late we had to call for the night porter. He was so helpful. Room was really good, clean, spacious. Bed was large and comfortable. Room quiet. Plenty of Tea/coffee. Breakfast was also excellent. Kirsty made sure we had everything we needed and more. Cannot fault this hotel at all. Lovely grounds to walk round. Just need to come back and stay longer.

The Hornsbury Mill is a very charming hotel, set in beautiful grounds with a little lake. The staff are very friendly and attentive and the bed comfortable. I had the full English (vegan) breakfast and it was very tasty. The one complaint I had was that when the very charming old mill wheel is on and turning (which they switch off at 8pm), the noise made a constant thud in my room and bothered me a little. I assume it won’t be too much of a bother though to most people, who would be in bed well after 8pm, but on this particular occasion I was exhausted and needed to go to bed very early and get a good night’s rest. The other noise that bothered me was that my room # 6 was at the back of the hotel where the dumpsters are and where the staff seemed to hang out for a little while after their shift, which again disrupted my sleep. However, I did speak to someone (I assume the owner?) who was very apologetic and said he would address this. Overall I was very happy with the hotel and would recommend it.

Needed a hotel where I could leave a trailer. Extremely helpful when I phoned and equally helpful in sorting out afternoon tea even though their kitchen was shut. One of the best meals I have had at the restaurant especially when considering the price. Good breakfast choice. Grounds beautiful and resident peacock and peahen. Tranquil. Bed comfortable just needed to be a little careful of low ish beam in room.

A lovely stay in an absolutely authentic hotel, surrounded by a beautiful landscape. We even participated in a mystery dinner - together with some local people - in the hotel‘s restaurant. If you need some advice on day trips or good places in the area, make sure you speak to the landlord.

Needed a hotel where I could leave a trailer. Extremely helpful when I phoned and equally helpful in sorting out afternoon tea even though their kitchen was shut. One of the best meals I have had at the restaurant especially when considering the price. Good breakfast choice. Grounds beautiful and resident peacock and peahen. Tranquil. Bed comfortable just needed to be a little careful of low ish beam in room.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Hornsbury Mill. We had a friendly welcome and easy check in. Our room was comfortable and a good size and serviced upton request. We had dinner in the small and characterful restaurant and enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Breakfast was plentiful and cooked to order. The Hornsbury Mill is a very charming hotel, set in beautiful grounds with a little lake. The staff are very friendly and attentive and the bed comfortable. I had the full English (vegan) breakfast and it was very tasty. The one complaint I had was that when the very charming old mill wheel is on and turning (which they switch off at 8pm), the noise made a constant thud in my room and bothered me a little. I assume it won’t be too much of a bother though to most people, who would be in bed well after 8pm, but on this particular occasion I was exhausted and needed to go to bed very early and get a good night’s rest. The other noise that bothered me was that my room # 6 was at the back of the hotel where the dumpsters are and where the staff seemed to hang out for a little while after their shift, which again disrupted my sleep. However, I did speak to someone (I assume the owner?) who was very apologetic and said he would address this. Overall I was very happy with the hotel and would recommend it.

Absolutely fantastic. As we checked in late we had to call for the night porter. He was so helpful. Room was really good, clean, spacious. Bed was large and comfortable. Room quiet. Plenty of Tea/coffee. Breakfast was also excellent. Kirsty made sure we had everything we needed and more. Cannot fault this hotel at all. Lovely grounds to walk round. Just need to come back and stay longer.

A lovely little hotel in peaceful surroundings. The only reason for not giving 5 stars was the amount of time the evening meal took. The staff were apologetic from the start that they were busy and short-staffed. That’s ok, but it took the best part of an hour to deliver my dessert - a lime parfait, from a set menu. In fairness the food, including the dessert, was delicious. But for most of the hour we were ignored and then, when I could get some attention, they said they would get it sorted but didn’t. Just be honest. If anyone had come back after 15-20 mins and said, “really sorry, but it’s going to be another 15-20 mins as we’re so far behind.” then I would have said “it’s ok, cancel the dessert”. Instead, they soldiered on and then took the dessert off the bill due to the delay! So they made no money on the parfait and I was no less peeved about the situation, as I didn’t plan to spend 3 hours of my evening over dinner. A lose-lose for the hotel - and me.

Overall, a good place to stay and relax. Food was great, rooms were clean, friendly staff and ample space for parking. The only issue was with the tap in the washrooms which had very little pressure, so it will take longer to get ready.

Lovely setting in an old corn mill. The hotel is used extensively for weddings and we felt the room was somewhat tired. It also smelt strongly of cleaning products on entering. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful but there seemed to be a lot of confusion over the check-in and payments. We have hopefully only paid for the room once but were asked 3 times about payment. No problems at all with parking and we noticed there is a charging point for those with electric vehicles. Also dog-friendly in all areas.
