We had a great time at the Novotel Goa Dona Sylvia Hotel. Breakfasts were really good - very varied with both continental and Indian choices available. We came during a quiet period so lots of space around the pool which was well maintained. HOWEVER We arrived around 3am and had booked a family room which was supposed to accommodate 4 people. We were surprised to find only one large bed in the room and no preparations had been made for the family. When we questioned them about the room they advised that the window seat doubled up as a bed! It was certainly not a bed as the cushion was very hard and only a small person could sleep in that corner. I can't believe that we paid extra for a family room only to discover that our room was the same size as all the other ones! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much for them. They are a credit to the hotel which is why I was shocked to find out that the hotel's treatment of their staff was less that expected. There is a huge array of food available at the buffets throughout the day in the hotel. I asked a member of staff what happened to the food once the service was over and was advised that it is all thrown away and staff are not allowed to eat the leftover food. In this economic crisis, I find it heartbreaking that the hotel would treat their staff this way. They would rather throw away the food than offer it to their hardworking staff who make this hotel what it is today. Shame on them!

Overall an excellent stay at the Dona Sylvia resort, nestled in lush gardens with good facilities. Location is excellent with direct access to the beach, and a wide variety of restaurants and beach shacks in the vicinity. The staff delivers attentive service and they were very helpful with additional activities such as arranging a cooking class! The pool and the gardens are very well maintained. Really good beach side resort. Cute little huts with two rooms each or a bungalow type hut with just one room in the ground floor. Great breakfast buffet and private access to the beach made it very convenient. The beach itself was amazing, very quiet. Many options to eat outside of the resort and it’s situated right across from a super market which was also very convenient.

We chose carefully before ending up with this resort. It's perfect. Not too big, not too small. Direct access to beach - not private beach, but almost. Not crowded and dirty like many places in north Goa (even Benaulim actually). Direct access to small market and shops outside the resort area as well. Couldn't have been better.

Overall an excellent stay at the Dona Sylvia resort, nestled in lush gardens with good facilities. Location is excellent with direct access to the beach, and a wide variety of restaurants and beach shacks in the vicinity. The breakfast buffet was good, but there were limited choices for western palates, so having an omlette every morning for a week can get a bit boring. First of all would like to highlight the check in time for the property is 3pm which is very very late. I was travelling with my family(wife and 1 year old kid) and reached Goa at 9am. From North Goa Airport to Hotel is around 1.5hrs.One can go ahead and book Goa Miles Taxi from airport to hotel which will cost around Rs 2500/-.We had requested the hotel for early check in, although when we reached the hotel they told us we are fully booked and asked us to explore the property. We did that but even after 3hrs they could not get us a single room for checkin.Finally they managed to get us a room at 2pm with so much hassle and constantly reminding them. Overall food is very good and the spread is nice althrough the rates are very steep. Room service-They don't care to take the phone call of guests.Had to call several times before someone answers the phone or have to connect through the reception. Room has all amenities but they are old. Lastly i would like to highlight that the hotel is surrounded by taxi union which don't allow outside taxi to come to the hotel and if you go to book taxi through hotel they charge around 2-2.5 times the actual cost. In our case they asked us to pay Rs 6000/- to MOPA Airport which is very steep. It's as if they are looting the guests in broad daylight with no cap on the pricing. Overall the stay was below expectations and it felt that they are short of staff and could not effectively manage all the guests.

We had a great time at the Novotel Goa Dona Sylvia Hotel. Breakfasts were really good - very varied with both continental and Indian choices available. We came during a quiet period so lots of space around the pool which was well maintained. HOWEVER We arrived around 3am and had booked a family room which was supposed to accommodate 4 people. We were surprised to find only one large bed in the room and no preparations had been made for the family. When we questioned them about the room they advised that the window seat doubled up as a bed! It was certainly not a bed as the cushion was very hard and only a small person could sleep in that corner. I can't believe that we paid extra for a family room only to discover that our room was the same size as all the other ones! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much for them. They are a credit to the hotel which is why I was shocked to find out that the hotel's treatment of their staff was less that expected. There is a huge array of food available at the buffets throughout the day in the hotel. I asked a member of staff what happened to the food once the service was over and was advised that it is all thrown away and staff are not allowed to eat the leftover food. In this economic crisis, I find it heartbreaking that the hotel would treat their staff this way. We chose carefully before ending up with this resort. It's perfect. Not too big, not too small. Direct access to beach - not private beach, but almost. Not crowded and dirty like many places in north Goa (even Benaulim actually). Direct access to small market and shops outside the resort area as well. Couldn't have been better.

Really good beach side resort. Cute little huts with two rooms each or a bungalow type hut with just one room in the ground floor. Great breakfast buffet and private access to the beach made it very convenient. The beach itself was amazing, very quiet. We had a great time at the Novotel Goa Dona Sylvia Hotel. Breakfasts were really good - very varied with both continental and Indian choices available. We came during a quiet period so lots of space around the pool which was well maintained. HOWEVER We arrived around 3am and had booked a family room which was supposed to accommodate 4 people. We were surprised to find only one large bed in the room and no preparations had been made for the family. When we questioned them about the room they advised that the window seat doubled up as a bed! It was certainly not a bed as the cushion was very hard and only a small person could sleep in that corner. I can't believe that we paid extra for a family room only to discover that our room was the same size as all the other ones! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much for them. They are a credit to the hotel which is why I was shocked to find out that the hotel's treatment of their staff was less that expected. There is a huge array of food available at the buffets throughout the day in the hotel. I asked a member of staff what happened to the food once the service was over and was advised that it is all thrown away and staff are not allowed to eat the leftover food. In this economic crisis, I find it heartbreaking that the hotel would treat their staff this way. They would rather throw away the food than offer it to their hardworking staff who make this hotel what it is today. Shame on them!

Overall an excellent stay at the Dona Sylvia resort, nestled in lush gardens with good facilities. Location is excellent with direct access to the beach, and a wide variety of restaurants and beach shacks in the vicinity. The staff delivers attentive service and they were very helpful with additional activities such as arranging a cooking class! The pool and the gardens are very well maintained. The breakfast buffet was good, but there were limited choices for western palates, so having an omlette every morning for a week can get a bit boring. The air conditioning in the room was quite noisy - could do with some maintenance. We also had a problem with the TV which kept switching off, and the WiFi which was excellent in the garden and all other areas but was hardly working inside the room. We escalated these issues to the reception and the staff tried to resolve the issues but unfortunately to no avail. The room was cleaned daily and the towels were changed as well - despite having them hung up as requested if we did not want them to be changed. We would recommend the Dona Sylvia for a relaxing stay in Goa.

Really good beach side resort. Cute little huts with two rooms each or a bungalow type hut with just one room in the ground floor. Great breakfast buffet and private access to the beach made it very convenient. The beach itself was amazing, very quiet. Many options to eat outside of the resort and it’s situated right across from a super market which was also very convenient.

Its a good property with private beach, well maintained but swimming pool water was not clean. We visited during summer so climate was hot & humid but biggest drawback of this property is there is no air conditioned restaurant in the property (except one which is not great) , it makes your holidays tiring especially in summer. Hotel management must think about making main restaurant (sea gull) airconditioned to provide right ambience to guests. More efforts are required to bring it to Novotel standards. Regards ,

In the summer months and hot days the front desk and lobby are extremely hot and the breakfast area also lacks air condition and sweating and heat were unbearable.
