Whilst check in isn't till 1700 hrs, the actual check in was easy and pleasant. Lovely beer garden, well suited for outdoor dinning and families. Very clean, and welcoming.

Friendly people and did exactly what we needed it for. Lynn and the team were very accommodating to us. We didn’t use it but there was a nice beer garden there. Clean and tidy and team were very warm to us. Handy being close to the station but did not hear any trains if I am honest. No. 18 😀

As we were visiting family in the village this was an ideal spot to stay. Everyone came to the pub for breakfast in the morning. Service was excellent and the food was delicious.

Our stay over just one night suited perfectly, we were visting relations in Southampton as well as Woking albeit we live near Banbury - so the location really worked. Further more there was a good choice of food and drink, a comfortable room and friendly hosts. We will be returning.

If you are travelling by rail, stay here instead of more expensive places like Basingstoke or Farnborough. It is a quaint pub/restaurant hotel which is basic but well maintained and very friendly. I felt safe staying here as a solo female.

This is a traditional pub with incredibly friendly and helpful staff who went above and beyond to assist me. The room was spacious and clean, the bed really comfortable and i felt safe there travelling as a single woman. Winchfield train station is very close but it was still really quiet and wasn't an issue sleeping with a window open. Thank you for all your help!

This place is a perfect antidote to the bland and uninspired offerings of chain hotels. The warm and genuine welcome makes such a change from the stereotypical “script” welcome of staff in those chains. The food offerings were excellent and reasonably priced, the room was clean, well appointed and comfortable and the breakfast in the morning was lovely. All in all, an excellent place to stay if you have business in Basingstoke or any of its environs. Heartily recommended.

We found it very comfortable and quiet. We did not spend waking time there as we were attending a family wedding. So literally just slept there. Would definitely stay again recommend it. Comfortable friendly relaxing excellent value. Unfortunately the weather was appalling so we could not enjoy the lovely outside area.

Perfect stay - ideal for our needs. And so lovely to find a pub with delightful beer garden, plenty of parking and clean and well furnished rooms - owned by the same lovely owners for over 20years. Thank-you to Lyn and Pat.

Perfect stay - ideal for our needs. And so lovely to find a pub with delightful beer garden, plenty of parking and clean and well furnished rooms - owned by the same lovely owners for over 20years. Thank-you to Lyn and Pat.

The staff were outstanding. The owners, Pat and Lyn, were the friendliest pub landlord and landlady in Britain. Ruby was a fantastic host and Andy was incredibly charming. The bar itself was beautifully constructed and thye home made Steak and Ale pie was the best meal I've ever had. The home made chili was next level perfection.

The Owners and staff were lovely, Lynn was so helpful and went out of her way. Lynn, Ruby and the handsome Joe was a delight to talk to. Very welcoming and up for a chat, great company when feeling lonely or just want to socialize. The bedroom felt relaxing and the curtians were great at keeping out the cold. Breakfast was delicious and filling. The place is within a walking distance from the train station about a minute at most. Food is not allowed in the bedrooms just as a heads up and wifi around hook in general is a bit poor. Please don't let that spoil ruin or put you off the experience. This is a traditional inn with a whole lot of character. I hope to stay again soon.
