Banchory Lodge Hotel

Comfortable and great that the bar was open 24/7 when we arrived late in the evening. The scenery was amazing and the food in the restaurant was a little expensive but really delicious

One of the best “Twixmas" breaks we've had in the most dog friendly hotel we've found. Staff couldn't have been nicer to us and our hairy companion. Location ideal (and beautiful), room very comfortable and spacious and food excellent. Thanks to all staff and we'll be back.

A beautiful hotel by the river! Room was very comfortable and breakfast and dinner was delicious. Lovely outside seating area to enjoy the peace of beautiful surroundings.

The location is beautiful right on the river. The room was nice but the bathroom was a bit dated, which wasn’t in keeping with the room standard. The dining room is beautiful and the food was very nice. Staff are very friendly. It would have been nice to have an area of the bar to retire to for a drink. As the hotel was full all tables in the bar were set for dinner.

We stayed at Banchory lodge for our first wedding anniversary and it was just perfect. The hotel and grounds is stunning with River Dee on your door step, service was great, and food delicious (bonus points for a very generous breakfast menu!). Lovely outside bar/restaurant too, although we did not get to experience it properly due to rainy weather. There are loads of activities nearby- hiking, fishing, golfing, etc., as well as some lovely villages to explore. Throughout our stay, we felt very well looked after by friendly and attentive staff, and they even gave us a free room upgrade for the occasion, and the room was just lovely. For our anniversary dinner, we were seated by the window overlooking the river and the food and service was fantastic. A huge thanks to Megan, Annamaria, and all staff for making our stay so special. We had amazing weather for January which made the river walk to Crathes Castle really a treat. All the food was very good and hot. Real fire made it homely. Pet friendly. Outdoor seating gave easy access the to great river side and views.

Another visit for us to Banchory lodge this time with our new little dog. One arriving a dog bowl with a little bag of dog treats and a list of walks for us. The staff can't do enough for you ,made a fuss of our dog.

A lovely hotel with beautiful views. The staff are very friendly and thoughtful. The suite I was in was beautiful, but there was no mini fridge available for medication, and non available. An excellent venue for an escape and for a wedding.

Picked at random but a little gem. Staff really helpful, good food, quirky decor. The ‘sitooterie’ dining pods fun!

Beautiful property. Excellent grounds and views. Only criticism is that there were no phone charging points in the room, although I had taken my own, just in case

We stayed in a beautiful room with a view of the river which was spotlessly clean. The staff were outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble for them, even providing a cooked breakfast one hour early on our departure day. I would have no hesitation recommending this hotel to anyone.

The style of the hotel was very much to our liking , room was very clean and spacious with a great view of the river. The bath was great and nice a warm shower. We enjoyed the 1st day so much we decided to extend our trip and stay for a further night. Thanks once again to all the staff , we will definitely be back . Andy B

This is such a lovely hotel..immaculately clean, informal staff, great service - a model of a Highland hotel as it should be

lovely location, room was small but well decorated and clean, very comfy bed and pillows and good shower. Room was very warm even with windows open and unfortunately I didn’t sleep well because of this. We were really disappointed that the TV in our room wasn’t working - spoke to a staff member who said they would come and have a look but they didn’t show up. Called reception at least 4 times but no answer. The TV wouldn’t turn back off either so was left with the light of that through the night. Dinner was delicious although starters and deserts slightly pricey, nice cocktails and breakfast was very tasty too, plenty of options. Service was great in the restaurants, plenty of staff and very attentive.

Room had the most awful dingy lighting, really struggled to see what I needed to. No radiator in room, instead a small electric fire with fan blower, bed was uncomfortably hard and the bathroom was tiny (but had a hot electric towel rail and decent lighting). Towels were big and fluffy which was nice. Hotel is in a beautiful setting.

Helpful staff, large room, beautiful riverside location within walking distance of town centre. Comfortable bed (although the duvet was too warm - I find this in every hotel I stay in!).

Great hotel by the banks of the river Dee. Beautiful views of woodland and river, with lovely riverside walk. Hotel v comfortable but maintains historical features.

Beautiful location and very friendly staff. We had a family emergency and the hotel was very flexible and accommodating. Would highly recommend this place. The only improvement I would make is adding a charging pole for electric vehicles.

We had an excellent stay in a super room,all staff were friendly and approachable,it’s a beautiful hotel. The girl who checked us in was very friendly and professional. Only downside was the amount of emails sent regarding check in two phone calls,I was sent a link,to check in at least twice,I was unable to open the link ,I then phoned the hotel to advise I couldn’t open the link, I was told all was OK,the next day I received a call asking for more details,the night before I checked in I was sent another email regarding check in . Left me feeling a bit frustrated. The previous night we stayed at the Tor Na Coille, check in took less than one minute,and no emails,apart from one confirming conformation.

Staff at Banchory Lodge were outstanding. This was a trip for my Mum to meet with long-standing friends. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and we loved the individual designs. The highlight was how the team, knowing we were meeting friends for dinner in the restaurant and that there were hearing issues and infection vulnerabilities, found us a perfect quiet, separate location for dinner. Excellent breakfasts and dinner. Highly recommended.

Banchory Lodge was beautiful, the rooms were large and there was no noise from adjoining rooms. The setting was peaceful and in the morning all you can hear is the river Dee. The food was amazing and plentiful.

Perhaps Easter Saturday was not the best time to choose to stay here for one night. Our bedroom was lovely, bed very comfortable, but the disappointment was our evening meal. We shared a salt baked beets and goats cheese which was lovely, but my main of pan fried seabass (£19) was the smallest quarter of fish, very little fish, but lots of prawn crackers! My husbands Wagyu beef burger (£18) was overcooked and shrunken but worst for him was celeriac and apple slaw drowned in a Marie Rose type sauce, a remoulade type sauce which let the ingrediants show through would have been preferable. We expressed our disappointment to the waiter and he did deduct my meal from the bill. We found the cooked breakfast we chose to be nicely cooked and presented but the self service table for other items was quite small and had nothing like the variety of items we had in a chain hotel we stayed in the previous 4 nights - there was no yogurt and no fresh fruit, though because the dining room was very busy, the staff had probably not had time to replenish. All in all the staff were all very pleasant and helpful and the location is beautiful.

Really lovely hotel that's well looked after and great food.

Hotel lovely, staff seem demotivated and unhappy (in fact they looked terrified most of the time). Unfortunately the food we had was poor. We had duck on the first night which looked like it had been cooked earlier in the day then cooked again, it was dry, overcooked, and truly inedible. The red wine 'jus' was just packet gravy which hadn't actually been cooked out and was lumpy (disgusting) - there had been no red wine anywhere near it!!. We didn't say anything as the restaurant was busy, but it wasn't great, and we put it down to an off night. However, Breakfast was a poor effort and my waffles were undercooked/doughy. We feared for our dinner the following evening, and after a long hike ordered 'artisan bread' which were actually packet 'bake in the oven' rolls and burgers. The burger was okay, but the artisan bread wasn't actually cooked, it was still raw!! Truly strange. An enforced 10% service charge which is intended for you to ask for it to be removed, which just causes everyone to be uncomfortable, so you leave it. The hotel team we met were friendly enough, but the young waitress seemed genuinely terrified when we sent the bread back. Whilst the restaurant manager offered us a complimentary drink, we were just fed up and disappointed that every meal was not of the standard we hoped/expected. So much so that we went to a local cafe for breakfast this morning rather than have another disappointing meal. Also too many dog's barking/sat at dinner tables for us

Beautiful. Quiet and comfortable. Good food, but expensive by Canadian standards. Recommended.
