A huge bug bear of mine is hotels that advertise parking and then upon arrival, you discover either there are about 4 parking spaces or you have to pay separately for parking, That was the case here £10.20 parking fee... I also emailed in advance to enquire about parking and had no response. the hotel itself is very tired, cobwebs in my room grubby walls and carpet. The water system liked to make a strange coughing and draining sound every 15 minutes or so. There was also a wedding during my stay no ideal when I had a 6am start and you can hear both quests outside and in the corridors.

Dog friendly is great! Staff v.helpful & friendly. Shame no a/c in our room but pleased there was a fan! Shame we had to pay £20 for parking unlike the last time we stayed, no payment at all.

Room and hotel generally in need of refurbishment- it looks a little shabby: e.g.net curtains badly in need of a wash, badly frayed; shower attachment and knobs varnish peeling off and sealant/grouting in need of repair. Kettle half full of water and grubby. A general deep clean wouldn’t go amiss. A parking charge on top of a three figure overnight charge not expected.

Lovely hotel, room average. Extremely noisy extractor fan in bathroom. Pillows not so good. Had to clear tables ourselves at breakfast to make room for next course. Staff didn't seem interested. Thought £10 to park car in the car park a bit steep!

Wasn’t terrible, but certainly not great. Room grubby! I had no remote for TV so hunted for it including under bed, wish I hadn’t! Deep clean needed. Shower spraying out of sides and shower door didn’t fit correctly, no toiletries not even any gel in shower. Breakfast totally average, didn’t look appetising at all, so just had toast!

Great staff. Rooms were dated and needed some additional cleaning. Apart from the room the food was good and Staff were friendly. Lovely old building. We were there for a wedding and must say the reception room with dressed exceptional.

On first impression going to room, dirty carpets, walls, badly chipped paint work, outdated, in need of refurbishment. Room similar, bathroom floor dirty & marked, shoe scuffs I think but obviously not cleaned by staff. Gave up waiting at bar for pre dinner drinks and asked for table early. Ordered drinks which took 12 mins to arrive but the food was ok. Would never stay again.

The room was not clean, the carpets were stained and dirty, the chair was dirty, the shower was dirty. They changed the room which was better, however I was too tall to have a shower as the ceiling was so low so I had to bath. Good breakfast

Friendly staff, very good food but room for improvement in the hotel. I was in room 9 at the top of the stairs, walking up the stairs, they were filthy, first impression wasn't great based on this! got to my room to find a nice room, low ceilings which I did hit my head on in the night. no shower, only a bath. I had an unsettled night due to a very poor quality mattress. I immediately fell through to the devan and could feel the springs inside. I expected better quality than this. also black out blinds work great, however the 3 lights outside the door could be put on a sensor, they don't need to be on all night leaving a glow around the door! Food both dinner and breakfast was faultless and all staff were extremely friendly, just some improvements that would go a long way to making this a perfect stay.

Not much provided in the rooms, soap and shower gels are being used by all those using that particular room, not very hygienic. First time in a hotel not being provided with individual wrapped items for use in bathroom. Would take our own if ever stayed there again? Not over generous with the tea and coffee only two teabags, they went soon after arrival which meant buying from a local shop to make a cup of tea in the morning. One bottle of water provided for two people again had to buy more. Not sure if room had been hoovered bits over the floor and dust all along the edges of the carpet and side of wardrobe. Furniture a bit dated. Good breakfast menu to choose from continental or cooked couldn't really fault that more than adequate for what we wanted. The meals though for lunch or evening we thought were quite expensive.

,we stayed in the Horatio Room the bathroom is DANGEROUS steps up to the toilet, basin and bath, signs warn of steps but no mention of beams the one next to bath is less than 166cm It slopes away towards the end of the bath,I turned hit my forehead and fell on to the side of the bath.Apparently nobody had complained before! Just dont be average height or drunk!

The Talbot enjoys a great location. The hotel is getting to be tired, with bedrooms in particular (and bathrooms) needing a refresh, or lick of paint. It is hard to find staff to check you in. The food is of average quality. The staff are variable, on checkout the member of staff was on the phone to a friend, and it was obvious that I was interrupting a conversation. Other staff including the servers and housekeeping a friendly and welcoming.

This could be such a wonderful hotel, it has a great location, character. There is nothing to worry about, it is an OK hotel. The rooms are OK, but getting tired and in need of a refurbishment. The reception staff are great, although you do sometimes have to hunt them down. The food in the restaurant is OK.

Disappointed in all as we’d upgraded to a deluxe 4 posted bed for a one night stay. The room was extremely noisy on the road and above the bar area. Poor nights sleep as we could hear noise from surrounding rooms and very creaky floor above. The room was very dusty and bathroom wasn’t very clean. We stayed in Room 02. The food was very good in the restaurant though and breakfast was ok. Being charged £10 to park is a bit much too. Shame as lovely looking pub.

Nice hotel in a lovely town. Old main building where we stayed this time. Usual noise from bar below and road outside. They do have other rooms, so request a quiet room if you're a light sleeper. Bathroom in room 1 smallest of damp. They could turn the heating down a few degrees and save hundreds of pounds! Rooms were incredibly hot at check in. We turned the radiators off! Breakfast was very average. Asked to sit where it was more convenient to the waiting staff, not ideal. Buffet not replenished as much as it could have been. These days we are paying a lot of money for accommodation, standards need to increase to meet expectations.

I stay regularly at this hotel. As usual on arrival reception was not manned, and there was therefore a considerable delay checking in. I times my arrival for 8p.m. but there was a hold up on the M25 so I missed the incredibly early 8.30p.m. cut off for the restaurant. The rooms are looking a little grubby with dirty paintwark, that just needs a good clean, other than that this is a well appointed hotel, in a great location.

This is a good hotel. it is in a fantastic location for Wisley Gardens It needs painting and refreshing The staff are pleasant but untrained leading to catastrophic mistakes in service, and blank looks.

One of the best hotel stays in a long time. The staff was very accommodating, very clean rooms and lovely restaurant. We were getting back late night and called in a food order and they even helped us get food before we went to bed. Will stay here every time now.

The Talbot enjoys a great location. The hotel is getting to be tired, with bedrooms in particular (and bathrooms) needing a refresh, or lick of paint. It is hard to find staff to check you in. The food is of average quality. The staff are variable, on checkout the member of staff was on the phone to a friend, and it was obvious that I was interrupting a conversation. Other staff including the servers and housekeeping a friendly and welcoming.

The reception man was very professional and greeted us warmly, gave us a potted history of the coaching inn and walked us to our converted stables room - all very pleasant. The breakfast was mediocre at best. Machine dispensed coffee and the young staff often stood around - not checking which foods need replenishing x. As a vegetarian there was no choice on the buffet table except lukewarm scrambled eggs and mushrooms - woopee! I had to request veggie mushrooms or smoked haddock, kippers etc and as I suspected the 2 sausages delivered to my table were completely tasteless x. In these days of veggie and vegan offerings they need to do better in my opinion.

The customer services were top notch. I required assistance with a charger adapter for my cell phone, and with getting a taxi. Food was exceptional. As a traveler on my first holiday, my stay here was perfect

I was very disappointed with my stay this time - The Talbot have introduced car park charging which added over £10 a day to my stay and I was not told in advance. There was no extractor fan in the bathroom. I was expected to make tea and coffee with a wooden stick instead of a teaspoon. When I left I had to make two trips to my car, after the first trip to the car my key card no longer worked and when I went to reception to explain, the women made it work again but wasn’t remotely interested in me to say oh dear, or sorry or anything - in fact she was rather dismissive of me. What if I had been having breakfast? I wouldn’t have got back into my room either.

This is a good hotel. it is in a fantastic location for Wisley Gardens It needs painting and refreshing The staff are pleasant but untrained leading to catastrophic mistakes in service, and blank looks.

Nice hotel in a lovely town. Old main building where we stayed this time. Usual noise from bar below and road outside. They do have other rooms, so request a quiet room if you're a light sleeper. Bathroom in room 1 smallest of damp. They could turn the heating down a few degrees and save hundreds of pounds! Rooms were incredibly hot at check in. We turned the radiators off! Breakfast was very average. Asked to sit where it was more convenient to the waiting staff, not ideal. Buffet not replenished as much as it could have been. These days we are paying a lot of money for accommodation, standards need to increase to meet expectations.

Excellent 2 night stay at the Talbot Inn, Staff are very friendly and professional. My room was very comfortable and clean. The Breakfast was lovey and our evening meal was excellent. Definitely stay again.

Not much provided in the rooms, soap and shower gels are being used by all those using that particular room, not very hygienic. First time in a hotel not being provided with individual wrapped items for use in bathroom. Would take our own if ever stayed there again? Not over generous with the tea and coffee only two teabags, they went soon after arrival which meant buying from a local shop to make a cup of tea in the morning. One bottle of water provided for two people again had to buy more. Not sure if room had been hoovered bits over the floor and dust all along the edges of the carpet and side of wardrobe. Furniture a bit dated. Good breakfast menu to choose from continental or cooked couldn't really fault that more than adequate for what we wanted. The meals though for lunch or evening we thought were quite expensive.

Very pleasant stay and good value for money. The idea of a room with garden view was a bit misleading - a strip of grass with a building site beyond! The fans in the room could have done with a clean. But we had a comfortable stay and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Problem getting into the room as the electronic door lock broken. Room backed onto a building site which started work at 0730hrs with heavy equipment. No air con so room too hot as windows had to be closed due to noise and dust. Receptionist at check in a bit surly. Gave the impression that being unable to get in the room was my fault. Manager eventually came to let us in. Breakfast okay but nothing special. Bar staff okay. Not a great stay considering it was not cheap.
