This Bed and Breakfast Guesthouse is clean, pleasant and well located. The Staff are super helpful at reception and when serving breakfast. The breakfast is great, nothing is too much trouble. We arrived late, 11.30pm, but were given clear and functioning instructions for the key-safe, which gave us access to both the front door and the room. It's a bit of a warren so more instructions finding the room would be helpful but not essential. The car park is described as quirky. Spaces are limited but you leave your keys at reception and the staff move cars around as and when needed, so bring a spare key is my advise. The Telstar suited our purpose of a short stay, 2 nights, perfectly. Any problems? Maybe me but i don't remember being told that the bathroom/tolet was not en suite but shared.

Lovely lovely people, solid breakfast. It’s not the most modern hotel but I like that, feels real and honest. Parking is useful and 10 mins walk from city centre. My second time visiting and will be back

The best thing about the Telstar is that all the staff are friendly and extremely helpful. Parking is interesting - but it works well - and the breakfast is excellent! Second stay here, and we will be back.

Excellent location and parking ok , very well laid out breakfast with both hot and cold options, hot is cooked to order and was delicious. Very friendly host and offered lots of advice, we stayed here due to looking at the university and the location was perfect.

The Telstar is a lovely old time bed and breakfast using a converted house (i think). It is relatively close to Exeter St David's train station, and very close to Exeter University. The rate includes breakfast and free parking, which is a big nus. I had the single room with a small shower and toilet. No complaints. The staff are all very helpful. Be warned that there are no lifts in the hotel and the stairway is quite narrow. So those with huge luggage will have some difficulty getting up to the upper floor. Also, from the train station, the Telstar is on a hill. Given the room rate and everything, i am happy to recommend the Telstar. My thanks to Sam and Amy for making the stay a very enjoyable one.

It is fine for an overnight visit to Exeter. Hardest thing was finding the car park which has very narrow parking spaces especially when there are big SUVs there

The Telstar was very quaint . A genuine old fashioned type of hotel. Clean . Friendly staff. Décor is dated but that gave the whole place character. Ideal for a B&B type stay. Parking was a bit limited.

The reception at the hotel was good, a nice man showed me to my room when I checked in. My room was clean and warm, perfect for the single traveller. With a small en-suite bathroom. The cooked breakfast was delicious, plenty of variety and pleasant staff: I enjoyed my stay, I thought it was good value for money, and if I stay in Exeter again, I’d definitely book to stay at the Telstar.

The owners and staff were amazing and did everything they could to make ones stay perfect. The food was delicious and well presented, plus special diets were all covered. All jolly friendly and attentive. Love the quirky decorations. It was so good there that I am thinking of booking my whole family in next year for our annual get-together. Only one other comment - your cleaner needs to be more thorough. I was in the single room (16?) and some areas were extremely dusty, like the top of the wall light for instance. I left a full feed-back sheet in the room and I hope the cleaner handed it in and didn't tear it up because of what she might have read! Maybe it willl give her a nudge in the right direction! A big thank you to Telstar - i have already recommended you to friends who visit Exeter every year.

Telstar is an excellent city guest house with clean and comfortable rooms. The bathroom could do with some refurbishment. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were friendly and professional. It is a great location for exploring Exeter

Very helpful staff, conveniently located for both Exeter St. David's and Central railway stations, clean room with comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast. My room was at the front and traffic noise was noticeable.

Hotel looked nice in the pictures however our room seemed like something out of the seventies. Bed you could feel the springs digging in you pillows very hard. Had next to no sleep. Downstairs of the hotel seemed very nice though.

The Telstar is a nice little hotel, conveniently located close to St. Davis train station; spotlessly clean, with friendly staff and nice breakfast. The price is also right. Everything would have been great if they didn’t have the worst mattress of any hotel i ever stayed in; i could feel the springs in my back and got very little sleep because of that. Also the temperature wasn’t controllable and windows didn’t open sufficiently. I had a really terrible night and certainly cannot recommend this hotel to anyone until they replace their mattresses (at least in the single room).

Just about 12-15 minutes walking to the city centre. The mattress was a little hard, gave me some back pain. The shower didn't had pressure half of the time while using it. The tv programmes are not working to good (drama, my5 for example), can't really watch anything.

I was given a small single room with a balcony to the front of premises, really pretty, though I couldn’t have ventilation at night because there was no small window & road noise would’ve disturbed me if I left door to balcony open a crack. Comfy bed. All the necessary amenities like kettle & hairdryer & toiletries much appreciated. Loved the decor & themes in the hotel. Breakfast was amazing Short walk to city centre (but be aware it’s a steady uphill incline & and also from St Davids station). No internal lift so I advise you to travel light. I didn’t have to carry my suitcase up the stairs myself though - which I much appreciated. Staff were very helpful, polite and kind. Also appreciated it being a ‘green’ hotel, so I could recycle various plastic food containers etc. Only criticism is that it’s a creaky Victorian property, so can hear other guests moving above and coming & going etc. but that’s part of the character of the hotel. Would stay again because I thought it great value-for-money, though I would want to try a room to the rear of house next visit

Lovely breakfast . Walkable to town centre . Great we could leave car to go shopping before check in. Only lost points - could not sit up in bed as in attic under slope . Think beds should be moved around. Some tv channels we could not watch as reception not good.

Very well run traditional guest house with friendly and efficient staff and in a good location for St David’s station and the city centre. Decent WiFi and an excellent breakfast with vegan and gluten free options. My single room (12) had a shared bathroom which was fine and there was a sink in my room plus a fan which was useful in the heat. Really helpful staff - go out of the way to make sure that everything is as you would wish. Great breakfast, good wi-fi, on-site parking was provided, room fairly typical of city small hotels/guest houses but perfect for our needs. All in all excellent!

The staff was super helpful with tips of things to do in the city and also by allowing me to store my bag after checking out. The breakfast was very good, and the location is convenient, close to the train station and within walking distance to the city center.

Lovely old Victorian house run by a delightful family. Our room was spacious and charming. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were very accommodating to our complicated dietary restrictions (some vegetarian, multiple allergies). We would definitely stay again next time we're in Exeter! Travelers without a car should know that, although very close to St. David's station, the walk to the hotel is up a steep hill. But well worth it!

The Telstar is a lovely old time bed and breakfast using a converted house (i think). It is relatively close to Exeter St David's train station, and very close to Exeter University. The rate includes breakfast and free parking, which is a big nus. I had the single room with a small shower and toilet. No complaints. The staff are all very helpful. Be warned that there are no lifts in the hotel and the stairway is quite narrow. So those with huge luggage will have some difficulty getting up to the upper floor. Also, from the train station, the Telstar is on a hill. Given the room rate and everything, i am happy to recommend the Telstar. My thanks to Sam and Amy for making the stay a very enjoyable one.

Excellent English breakfast in the morning. Also lots of additional breakfast to choose from including croissants, cereals and fruit salad. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is excellent. Loved our stay. Would recommend.

Family room that was in its own space with a small garden was lovely, nice drinks tray which included filtered water. Complimentary toiletries also great. Bed very comfortable so had a good night's sleep. All staff where lovely making sure you had everything you needed from check in to checkout. Breakfast was superb offering vegetarian and vegan options which was a plus for me , my partner had the meat option on both the produce was excellent quality., good selection of teas and coffee, also plenty of fruit, yogurts, cereals , fruit juice etc. This is also situated within 10 minute walk from the train station and the town which was brilliant for us. We would definately start again.

Really enjoyed our stay here, and would thoroughly recommend. So easy to walk into the centre, free parking at the rear, quality cooked breakfast with locally sourced sausages, bacon & eggs. And the staff were excellent.

The property was in a good location but very restricted parking. The accommodation was very tired looking with broken fixtures and fittings. The water pressure in the shower was poor. Breakfast was self service even making your own tea and poor choice of fruit, no pastries etc. Cooked breakfast was nice. Very expensive for what was provided in accomodation

We couldn’t have asked for anything more for our over night stay . The staff were so welcoming, our room was perfect and a delicious breakfast set us up for the day. Thank you…much appreciated!

What a lovely stay at Telstar. The room had everything you need plus little touches to make the experience even better. Loved the green vibe too. Delicious breakfast and friendly helpful staff. Will stay again.

Great location near St David's Station (travelled on train) and adjacent to City Centre. Got upgraded to a double bed. Breakfast was lovely but was very busy and a bit chaotic but overall my stay was very good value. Also, I left some clothes behind and the team were very helpful in reuniting it with me.

Very well run traditional guest house with friendly and efficient staff and in a good location for St David’s station and the city centre. Decent WiFi and an excellent breakfast with vegan and gluten free options. My single room (12) had a shared bathroom which was fine and there was a sink in my room plus a fan which was useful in the heat. Some quirks with TV reception a bit dodgy, the lamp didn’t seem to work unless I was being thick and the fan may need adjusting to avoid the noisy start but otherwise a great value choice for a night.

We had a lovely stay at the Telstar! It’s a very cosy hotel, clean and well kept. Lovely helpful stay. It was our second stay here and we will definitely stay again when we’re in Exeter!

Our room was very tired with chipped furniture, dirty skirting boards, dodgy wiring with tiny bathroom towels which made it difficult to dry yourself! The ceiling looked as if there had been a leak (or damp). The hotels floorboards in the dining room were filthy which didn't contribute to overall hygiene standards. Our room (3) was stifling hot and as our bedroom window overlooked the kitchen, smells from the kitchen wafted into our room at 6am (not pleasant as smelt like old cooking oil!) so went out for breakfast. We also smelt strong cannabis when we left the hotel early evening which had to be a staff member as no bedrooms were near the back entrance. We booked for 2 nights but left after 1 as couldn't face another night sleeping there. All in all a disaster and one I definitely wouldn't repeat!
