On arrival, in spite of calling well in advance, there was no ground floor available. We were told to sit and it would be sorted. In the end we were given a courtyard room, no.12, which was small, curtains hanging down on one side., toilet door opened on to the bed not giving a lot of room to get through. No drawers or shelving for clothes. The wardrobe was a wooden area for hanging which was right next to the bed so that as you got out of the bed you had to duck immediately to stop yourself from cracking your head. NOT health and safety. Felt we were given it to shut us up. Got the strong impression that disabled not wanted. Staff not too interested, liked their phones rather than the customers. Heating not working until Tuesday night, no hot water all day Tuesday. Not impressed at all, no apologies, felt embarrassed being disabled as it obviously wasn’t what the new manager wanted in their customers. I’m sure Marstons wouldn’t be impressed either.

Window was rotten and held open with menu. Booked 2 rooms at same time but one was at one end of propert and the other outside at the other end. Prices at till we're more expensive than in menu. Charged for fresh coffee but got instant. Reason given was "didn't know how to use coffee machine". Marston brewery need seriously look and invest in this property!

The pub itself is very old and in need of complete redecoration. The stairs, carpets, walls, paintwork leading up to the room was in a very poor state. Carpets need a good clean and decorating needs to be done. However, although the room was very basic and worn, the bed was comfortable, the bed linen clean and well laundered. The same with the bathroom, although dated, the towels, and bathroom fixtures were clean. The room was very hot and stuffy as there is no air conditioning and the only window that could be opened was a small fan light above the main window which had been sealed shut by layer upon layer of paint. They did provide a very small fan, but as there were no convenient plug sockets this would have proved useless had we not gone down to our van and used one of our own extension leads to plug it in. It gave off a small amount of breeze!. It is a very cheap basic room for the night. I would not stay there again.
