A very nice clean and recently refurbished hotel, I didn't use the bar or restaurant facilities, but the area looked nice and welcoming. One complaint I would have is the car parking, there are only about 15 bays on site, they claim they have an overflow car park, but this is simply a public pay and display which is about a 10 minute walk away,

I book hotels that have a gym or use of a gym. This helps me after working all day and being away from home. This hotel said it has use of a gym so on that I booked it. On arrival I was told the gym has been closed for refurbishment, at no point before booking was I told this as I wouldn’t have booked it if I knew

Went away with our football friends and had a wonderful time, the facilities are great we eat in the restaurant and made use the bar, pool table and darts (free of charge).

the hotel was excellent except for parking Charged £10 per night upfront and then could not find a space on second night at 7.00pm reception told me to go another car park where you had to leave at 8.00am NOT acceptable. eventually found a a meter about 8 minute walk from hotel. after a dispute they refunded the £10 Left bad taste

Stay was very good and comfortable, room was as described and well kept and the breakfast was worth it, great staff. My only issue was not being informed of the parking charge before hand.

Room itself was comfortable, however my stay wasn't as good as previous occasions; it was clear that the cleaner didnt check under the bed as there was food packaging from a previous guest there and the plunger to control the plug in the sink was entirely missing (so removing it was a pain without nails!) Additionally - they have guests' contact details. I understand the practicalities of not being able to offer food when there's a large party (in this case - Huddersfield Town FC!) staying at the hotel. However, this wasn't communicated in advance, and for those without a car, it's a fair trek into town... ended up ordering from Deliveroo but not quite the restaurant experience we were looking for!

The bathroom floods when the shower is used as the water wasn’t draining quickly enough and the floor was level with no lip to stop the water. The freight trains are loud through the night but worse were the other guests slamming doors and raised voices in the corridors. Corridors could do with a paint as they were badly bashed making it look tatty. The breakfast however was good for £10 and the room was clean with good linens and towels.

more than expected for price paid , brilliant staff and cleanliness of hotel in general food was amazing ( breakfast and evening meals which we had ), only issue we found was could do with more than one pillow each and if you have a stay of more than a couple of nights like we did then tea and coffee in rooms could be replenished each day rather than us having to pop to the receptionist each time to get a teabag and a milk carton

Disappointed with the personal service and enthusiasm of staff. Hotel seemed nice though. I booked a double room but was given a twin. Car park is very very small and had to park over the other side of a river and walk back in darkness over the bridge in an area not familiar with. Some people may not feel safe doing that at night (i arrived at midnight). One of the push buttons on the toilet to flush was missing. Good shower and clean enough

Rooms facing the road are a bit noisy - road noise as cars go past - and we were woken at 4am by late night partyers coming in for the evening in the hallway, so the room soundproofing isn't great. Watch out that breakfast on Sunday is a surprisingly late 7.30am

Great check in, service and hotel was very nice. Our bedding on the bed was clean but not soft / comfy. But this wasn’t a biggie, just not luxury bedding but can’t argue with the price! Also the breakfast was excellent. Lots of choice, fresh food and topped up regularly. Overall a decent stay at a great price.

Easy walk to and from the train station. Very convenient if you are going to an event at Portman Road, that is also within walking distance. My room faced the parking lot which wasn’t ideal as I had requested a room facing the river. However it was quiet and at night the hotel sections off the corridors with doors which makes it nice and quiet for sleeping. The breakfast was a nice selection of hot and cold breakfast items. The hotel felt very safe and the room was clean and comfortable.

Unfortunate the heating in my room didnt work ! I was supllied with a cheap plug in heater ! Parking is limited and at $10 a night your never guaranteed a spot ! The restaurant specials were never avaible and depending on which staff member you asked it was always a different reason ! Short staffed ! I checked out 5 days early because of the heating issue ! I was given a completely untrue reason why my heating was broken even after i told the staff i m a heating engineer as a job ! Poor service in a nice hotel

As always, the staff and hotel were brilliant. My only issue is the the rooms heating was not working. A fan heater was provided but too noisy to have on if you wanted to fo to sleep.

Hotel 5 minute walk from Ipswich rail station, Very quick and simple check in. Room was very spacious and clean, newly renovated.with air con and free toiletries. Bed was super comfortable, tv and tea making facilities, clothes hanging rail, shelving for clothes. Full length mirror close to electric sockets. The only downside to this hotel room was the lack of a small fridge and maybe more signs outside showing where the entrance to reception is. I’d definitely stay again.

A very clean hotel with very polite staff. Good location for the waterfront & shopping. Disappointed that we were told the incorrect time for breakfast on the BH so missed it even though it had been paid for as we had to leave early.

I arrived at 12.30 for a meeting with my colleague at 2.30 she left and I checked in and sat at the bar/ reception for about 1.5 hours. I then went to my room. At 6.30 I came downstairs for dinner to be told the restaurant was closed and I would have to go out or order in. In the morning I found the same issue at breakfast. I left having no breakfast that was already paid for and no apology or refund I stay at the penta regularly but never again. While sitting at the bar I saw a member of staff ignore a resident for about 15 minutes before asking him what he wanted I also had to tell your bar staff what a medium merlot was as he didn’t know Not a good experience

Aaron was amazing! He was so helpful. All the staff were very friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, so much choice. Would definitely stay here again! I would like to repeat that Aaron was amazing and a credit to the hotel!

Great location very near the station, not far from the town centre and close to the football ground. Big hotel, welcoming friendly staff. Nice room. Spacious and clean. Very nice bathroom. The bed was fairly comfortable, not great but above average, not too bad. Amazing continental breakfast. Overall, decent value.

Very conveniently placed hotel 5 mins walk from Railway station, If i was staying here again i would ask for a room away from the main entrance, people coming outside to smoke were noisy after midnight ! Nice staff on arrival and a good breakfast with lots of choice

The room, corridors were extremely clean and well looked after. Great service, great security on the door. Very close to Portman Road football stadium if you’re coming for a match or as we were a concert. Literally a five minute walk.

Great refurb, lovely staff. I liked the prior interior but this is a very comfortable upgrade. Good location short walk from train station and also into town.

Excellent central location, walking distance to main attractive. Modern spacious, clean and well equipped room. Limited on site parking but more close by.

Great check in, service and hotel was very nice. Our bedding on the bed was clean but not soft / comfy. But this wasn’t a biggie, just not luxury bedding but can’t argue with the price! Also the breakfast was excellent. Lots of choice, fresh food and topped up regularly. Overall a decent stay at a great price.

Stay was relaxed apart from the limited parking. Was unfortunately understaffed the first evening we were staying so the restaurant was closed. Food available only in the bar area. Dark theme throughout the hotel takes a bit of getting used to.

We've stayed before and was pleased the standards have remained very high. Breakfast choice was extremely good. Would stay again if in the area.

Nice and clean. However i think the charge of £14.50 for breakfast if you dont order it the night before is dteep when compared to normal price of £10.it should be the same. Breakfast is average quality

Clean room, bed was comfortable. Parking is an issue if you arrive late. Booking in and check out involves standing at the bar and this can be lengthy when the bar is busy. Breakfast is really good but evening meal options are distinctly average, and way to expensive for the quality offered.

Overall the hotel was very nice, the only let down was something outside of it's control in that there were a few people doing loud wheelspins etc on the road outside which made it hard to sleep. Other than that, service was lovely, breakfast was great with a really good selection available. Parking spaces were small, but I'd say that was to be expected.

Lifts not working, partner needed help getting upstairs. Very disappointed will not return. They tell you to hang towels, no towel rails. Really am disappointed spoilt our weekend away

All staff were excellent and went out of their way to make our stay as good as they could. Although a modern hotel , it doesn’t really cater for us older generation. Unable to use tv in our rooms, only via apps which we couldn’t use. 1 lift was out of order and the second lift kept failing, so the staff moved us 4 guests to the ground floor. Tv still no good there. It seems to be a business hotel, so not suitable for the visiting Ipswich leisure guest. Due to the difficulties with changing rooms, the bar running out of basic drinks, it spoilt our stay. Thankyou to all the staff for doing your best.

Lovely hotel in a great location for the town centre or the football ground. Bed was a bit too hard for me. They no longer have Sky Sports so only had the news Chanel on the TV. Such a shame as I would have stayed in the bar area to watch the evening game. Please invest in sky sports like you used too.
