Great place, amazing room size and a very friendly staff. The Wi-Fi and showers (extremely low water pressure) aren’t the best, but still worth the money. Great location - near the station, supermarkets and the uni.

The amenities for a small property is amazing. The bar downstairs is convenient with a nice outdoor seating area. The rooms are bright and comfortable. I had a great view of the mountains through my large skylight window. The staff are ready to help and have a great knowledge of the local area. It is 5 minutes to the pier and restaurants and other bars. I totally recommend this place. And will definitely stay here again.

I loved the feel and atmosphere of this place, and the location was very good, being very close to numerous restaurants and a grocery store. The staff here is wonderful as well. My biggest complaint is that there were some nights were there was just too much noise. There were numerous nights where I could hear the television of the room below me, and one night where I could loudly hear music from what seemed like a party going on in the pub below, which went on until midnight.

Wasn't expecting 5* at the price I paid, much less that Tr@veI-b0dge for the same weekend. Pleasantly surprised. The room was large, ours had a double and 2 singles, en-suite bathroom, kettle and tea/coffee, hairdryer. Its an old building and is a little tired but that gives it character. No food service other than breakfast which is included, even had an option of cooked breakfast at no extra cost. Located in a mostly student area, 2 other local pubs nearby and a handful of fast food places too. 20 mins walk into Bangor centre. For a nice eve meal, drive over the Menai Bridge, its literally 10 mins, to a pub named after a big city on the river mersey ;-)

Suppose ok for money, but some upgrade required urgently, shower just tricled and took 10 minutes to get aired water, some plug sockets did not work, no real staff communication one guy seemed to do everything including running the busy pub, public areas need decorating and breakfast was like being on rations.

Staff very welcoming. Parking a bit tight but plenty. Room very spacious. bed comfortable. Shower didnt get higher than luke warm, but then i was on the top floor and probably need to let it run for a lot longer than i had time for. TV, nice to have, but needed the aerial realigning. Pub wasnt busy , Music, tv, pool tables, reasonable prices. Breakfast was good.

Stayed here as close to university. Was a 2 minute walk. Deserves a higher rating than it currently has. No lifts so people with mobility issues may struggle. Wasn’t a problem for me and my daughter. We had a twin room. Shower was a little disappointing as spray was not very good or powerful. However was over a full size bath with plenty of hot water. Comes with free breakfast too. Limited to 5 items and wasn’t clear if you could pay to add to this. Cooked breakfast was delicious. Plenty of tea and coffee available in the room. Place was nice, games available, pool tables, parking and breakfast included. My only negative was that there was just my son and I and one other lady in the breakfast room, we asked the lady if she would mind us playing pool and she said no. I paid for the pool table and then the man serving breakfast came running over telling me we couldn't play in a morning. We left after that, it was a shame because noone was in the dining room, both my son and I left as did the lady. So it wouldn't have been an issue to have just played one game of pool. Overall it was nice, the staff were friendly and if was local to where we needed to go. It was noisy though until early hours which could have been an issue but I sleep with music in the background so thankfully it was drowned out.

BED BUGS. stayed 3 nights and have bites and welts all over my arms and legs face and chest. Dr has confirmed bed bugs. I also saw them in the wooden bedside table next to the bed but thought they were borers. An absolute nightmare as the bites have infected and ive also possibly infected my home!

Didnt get any sleep there were bed bugs. There was nobody about to report to or exchange room so we just had to keep all lights on and try to rest but quite impossible.

I was exceptionally pleased by stay at the Menai Hotel. The room was clean & comfortable with everything I needed plus a great view of the mountains. Location-wise it was also handy for the city centre. I had a great sleep and breakfast was varied and plentiful. The staff was friendly and helpful. Great value for money! Will certainly be back and recommend!

This is the dirtiest room I have ever been to. The room was not vacuumed before check in, was stained everywhere, mold in the bathroom. We did not stay the night and left immediately to find other accommodations.

Spacious room with lovely view, comfortable bed, clean white bedlinen and towels. However.... poor quality furniture (drawers fall out if you open more than a few inches) and the whole place needed a good deep clean. Armchairs badly stained. Coffee table and tray were filthy and mugs were dirty - I asked for clean mugs and they said they didn't have any. I asked for a jug of hot soapy water and a cloth to clean the table and tray and was given a jug of warm water with a light squirt of cheap washing up liquid in it and a worn out scouring pad. Sink plug chain broken. Poor toilet flush. Black mould on bath/shower grouting. Low shower pressure.

Good value for money, good breakfast, comfortable bed, friendly staff. I loved the view of the mountains over the houses from the room. The shower took a long time to run warm, but I was showering early, and the carpet was worn in places, but did the job of being a place to stay near my destinations.

I was exceptionally pleased by stay at the Menai Hotel. The room was clean & comfortable with everything I needed plus a great view of the mountains. Location-wise it was also handy for the city centre. I had a great sleep and breakfast was varied and plentiful. The staff was friendly and helpful. Great value for money! Will certainly be back and recommend!

Good location and friendly staff. Tasteful breakfast. If you want to leave luggage before check-in, better email them earlier or after 13:00 when the bar open. I arrived around 12:15, rang the phone and nobody answered. So I need to bring my Luane to Snowdonia Mountain railway and lake railway trip with me. However, on the day of my check out, I can leave my luggage after breakfast and pickup after 13:00 when the bar opens. Good public transport and easy walking distance to ye stone circle, pier,university, library and cathedral. I can have a delicious hot Chinese lunch in a restaurant near the cathedral as well.

The amenities for a small property is amazing. The bar downstairs is convenient with a nice outdoor seating area. The rooms are bright and comfortable. I had a great view of the mountains through my large skylight window. The staff are ready to help and have a great knowledge of the local area. It is 5 minutes to the pier and restaurants and other bars. I totally recommend this place. And will definitely stay here again.

Suppose ok for money, but some upgrade required urgently, shower just tricled and took 10 minutes to get aired water, some plug sockets did not work, no real staff communication one guy seemed to do everything including running the busy pub, public areas need decorating and breakfast was like being on rations.

Wasn't expecting 5* at the price I paid, much less that Tr@veI-b0dge for the same weekend. Pleasantly surprised. The room was large, ours had a double and 2 singles, en-suite bathroom, kettle and tea/coffee, hairdryer. Its an old building and is a little tired but that gives it character. No food service other than breakfast which is included, even had an option of cooked breakfast at no extra cost. Located in a mostly student area, 2 other local pubs nearby and a handful of fast food places too. 20 mins walk into Bangor centre. For a nice eve meal, drive over the Menai Bridge, its literally 10 mins, to a pub named after a big city on the river mersey ;-)

Stayed here as close to university. Was a 2 minute walk. Deserves a higher rating than it currently has. No lifts so people with mobility issues may struggle. Wasn’t a problem for me and my daughter. Limited to 5 items and wasn’t clear if you could pay to add to this. Cooked breakfast was delicious. Plenty of tea and coffee available in the room. Good value for money, good breakfast, comfortable bed, friendly staff. I loved the view of the mountains over the houses from the room. The shower took a long time to run warm, but I was showering early, and the carpet was worn in places, but did the job of being a place to stay near my destinations.

Staff very welcoming. Parking a bit tight but plenty. Room very spacious. bed comfortable. Shower didnt get higher than luke warm, but then i was on the top floor and probably need to let it run for a lot longer than i had time for. TV, nice to have, but needed the aerial realigning. Pub wasnt busy , Music, tv, pool tables, reasonable prices. Breakfast was good.

This Hotel need a good clean and a refurbish. In saying that the room was adequate sheets and bed linen spotless and tidy. Plenty of tea and coffee Bathroom spotless and Breakfast in the morning was excellent although quite slow but that's because the Breakfast chef phoned in sick and the waiter had to cook and serve breakfast which he managed gallant. Staff were very pleasant. The hallways and wall definitely needed a paint job

Not the smartest hotel in the world but it makes up for this by the friendliness of the welcome with good sized clean and comfortable rooms that have an individuality not found in modern hotels. The barroom downstairs has a good selection of drinks and there are bar billiards tables. Just be aware there is no lift so stairs to rooms must be managed. After a good nights sleep breakfast awaits exactly as you ordered it
