The facilities seem rather run down compared to previous years. No Spa, a minimal Gym. Indoor and outdoor pools were OK, but the showers often didn't have hot water. It seems that Macdonald Hotels are not investing in the upkeep

Pool is good, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Changing rooms should be bigger and shower temperature set so can shower in it, too hot. Check in should be earlier than 5pm and bar should be open whilst awaiting check in. Not enough staff in restaurant.

Overall we had a great trip, beautiful mountains, relaxing family time, good food and beer. The facilities need a little TLC but the facilities are there. We had our own communal space which you don't get in a standard hotel room, we swam indoors and outdoors, used the steam room and Jacuzzi, we played pool and games in the reception area, Table tennis and volley ball in the village hall, played golf and tennis and had lovely walks along the trim trail and then there was the rest of Wales.

Facilities and accomodation dated. Lovely grounds and location. But loose and missing pavings on steps. Dirty dead moth filled apartments and indoor swimming pool with huge sections of tiles missing. Such a shame that things feel rough around the edges given the potential of the place.

The property was mouldy and as a result was disgusting to be inside. The smell was awful, and it got inside your lungs. The damp level also meant that it was hard to dry towels even with heaters on all day. The swimming pool and changing rooms were sprays dirty. It was hard to swim a length without gathering bits of hair in your hands. It would seem the pool had no filtering.

It’s old and sad and tired. Needs a massive investment which is unlikely if it’s up for sale with no buyer in the offing. It’s an amazing location with lovely grounds and could be fantastic. The outdoor swimming pool was closed putting pressure on the indoor pool which was closed last time I went. The flat was not clean , the kitchen tap leaked and the bedroom window was rotten and warped..A local told me some maintenance staff had been let go. It’s really on its last legs which is a shame as it could be so good.

Arrived early but luckily I was allowed to check in. Beautiful scenery in the heart of Wales. Property a little dated with a few faults but beyond that had a lovely weekend. The outdoor pool was very busy but expected because of the beautiful weather. Would definitely recommend.

The property managed to fill the needs for a dog; a 80 year old and a 7 year old! Staff were friendly and pools were clean. The scenery was fantastic!

I have read some of the reviews and sometimes wonder what people expect. We stayed in a two bedroom classic bungalow and was impressed with the space and fittings of our accommodation. There is some room for improvement if critical and is not really worth mentioning here. We did not use any of the facilities onsite but we received a warm welcome on arrival and were very accommodating. We could see the pool and had a look at the small gym both looked looked good. Did not see the steam room. Our focus was very much about the surrounding area, the views and waterfall..... We had a 3 night stay and would wished we had at least another two.

Absolutely Appalling Stay – Avoid at All Costs We booked Macdonald Plas Talgarth Holiday Resort expecting a relaxing break, but what we got was a nightmare. Our first room was filthy – covered in dust and cobwebs, with spiders in every corner of the bedrooms and moths everywhere. To make matters worse, I even found someone else’s fake eyelashes in the bed, which says a lot about the so-called “cleaning standards.” We complained immediately and were moved to another room, which was only slightly better. Throughout all of this, the manager, Mark, never once came to meet us, apologise, or offer any form of discount for the huge inconvenience of moving rooms and losing two nights of our holiday – especially disgraceful given that I am heavily pregnant. Since returning home, we have tried calling Mark for five days straight, leaving messages, but have received no reply. This level of customer service is completely unacceptable. If you value cleanliness, basic hospitality, and any level of care from management, do yourself a favour and avoid this place entirely.

Its very peacefull and quite and clean. Its self catering and shops are bit far so best take extra food and grocery. We stayed in bunglow and they got nice clean kitchen with all the cooking facilities. Rooms are nice but mattress are bit old.View from bunglows are lovely,I ll try to share image. Staff are friendly. All in all 5 stars. Price reflects.

The apartment we stayed in was enormous Two en suites one with a sauna. Even a down stairs toilet, brilliant views from the apartment. We would highly recommend the Macdonald plas.

Highly recommend, the 2 bedroom apartment was the size of a house with a sauna and three bathrooms! Food at the restaurant was amazing. Lots to do and perfect for families or explorers.

Staff were lovely, very friendly beautiful place ,clean i was so pleased we stayed in the mansion house it had everything you could possibly need, bed was comfortable, our dog settled ok ,i would definitely recommend it to anyone pools ,tennis etc the bar was lovely and friendly owners food was lovely, nice cosy atmosphere loved it😘
Staff were lovely, very friendly beautiful place ,clean i was so pleased we stayed in the mansion house it had everything you could possibly need, bed was comfortable, our dog settled ok ,i would definitely recommend it to anyone pools ,tennis etc the bar was lovely and friendly owners food was lovely, nice cosy atmosphere loved it😘

We had a pleasant stay but we were a bit surprised that we were staying in self-catering This wasn't made that obvious when booking but in all the place was nice andfriendly. It would have been nice if the apartment was warm before we got there as it took a good hour to get it up to a comfortable temperature. We also arrived at 6:00. The spa was not open which is a real shame as that's one of the main reasons for booking. It closes at 5:00. Be aware. . . The restaurant serves really nice food and the gentleman in charge of it is friendly and helpful. He even helped us get some milk and tea for the morning as we didn't have this in the room. Absolutely Appalling Stay – Avoid at All Costs We booked Macdonald Plas Talgarth Holiday Resort expecting a relaxing break, but what we got was a nightmare. Our first room was filthy – covered in dust and cobwebs, with spiders in every corner of the bedrooms and moths everywhere. To make matters worse, I even found someone else’s fake eyelashes in the bed, which says a lot about the so-called “cleaning standards.” We complained immediately and were moved to another room, which was only slightly better. Throughout all of this, the manager, Mark, never once came to meet us, apologise, or offer any form of discount for the huge inconvenience of moving rooms and losing two nights of our holiday – especially disgraceful given that I am heavily pregnant. Since returning home, we have tried calling Mark for five days straight, leaving messages, but have received no reply. This level of customer service is completely unacceptable. If you value cleanliness, basic hospitality, and any level of care from management, do yourself a favour and avoid this place entirely.

Warm welcome on arrival from a very helpful and knowledgeable Sian. Our accommodation was great, very spacious, clean and well equipped with all the home comforts needed. The accomodation was set in beautiful lush countryside with rolling hills and mountains around it, all the fresh air and scenery you'd want for a peaceful break. The resort had an indoor and outdoor pool, as well as other facilities that were complimentary, but our stay was too short, so we didn't get to use them, we'll be back for the outdoor pool alone.

I have read some of the reviews and sometimes wonder what people expect. We stayed in a two bedroom classic bungalow and was impressed with the space and fittings of our accommodation. There is some room for improvement if critical and is not really worth mentioning here. We did not use any of the facilities onsite but we received a warm welcome on arrival and were very accommodating. We could see the pool and had a look at the small gym both looked looked good. Did not see the steam room. Our focus was very much about the surrounding area, the views and waterfall..... We had a 3 night stay and would wished we had at least another two.

The apartment we stayed in was enormous Two en suites one with a sauna. Even a down stairs toilet, brilliant views from the apartment. We would highly recommend the Macdonald plas.

Arrived early but luckily I was allowed to check in. Beautiful scenery in the heart of Wales. Property a little dated with a few faults but beyond that had a lovely weekend. The outdoor pool was very busy but expected because of the beautiful weather. Would definitely recommend.

Room was spacious with lots of amenities, but was not clean with damp smell. Toilet seats need changing. Water from both shower sprinkles with no force. Apart from these issues, hotel is located in a quiet area with good views from room.

Pool is good, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Changing rooms should be bigger and shower temperature set so can shower in it, too hot. Check in should be earlier than 5pm and bar should be open whilst awaiting check in. Not enough staff in restaurant.

Overall we had a great trip, beautiful mountains, relaxing family time, good food and beer. The facilities need a little TLC but the facilities are there. We had our own communal space which you don't get in a standard hotel room, we swam indoors and outdoors, used the steam room and Jacuzzi, we played pool and games in the reception area, Table tennis and volley ball in the village hall, played golf and tennis and had lovely walks along the trim trail and then there was the rest of Wales.
Overall we had a great trip, beautiful mountains, relaxing family time, good food and beer. The facilities need a little TLC but the facilities are there. We stayed in a villa and the first thing we noticed was the overpowering smell of mould / damp. When we spoke to reception staff they were very understanding and moved us to another villa which although not as clean as I would have liked, didn’t smell of damp. We ordered food from the bar and I was looking for to some authentic Indian cuisine, but the curry I got tasted like it had came from a tin. The grounds are well kept and the area is lovely. The staff are also really nice and helpful and we did have a nice time. It’s just a shame that MacDonald Resorts expect paying guests to stay in damp accommodation. The buildings could really do with updating.

Swimming pool was book only - not suitable for us. The Indian Food in the restaurant was amazing. The macaroni cheese should have been called macaroni flour and water. It was gross. Friendly , helpful staff.

Highly recommend, the 2 bedroom apartment was the size of a house with a sauna and three bathrooms! Food at the restaurant was amazing. Lots to do and perfect for families or explorers.

I did read some reviews before we stayed so I was expecting the resort to be dated and needing some tlc. The grounds and surroundings are beautiful. However our bungalow was in need of updating and cleaning. It’s a shame the bar facility isn’t open earlier and everyday of the week. Alternatively the small shop by reception could be better stocked with more items such as ice creams and hot drinks.

The setting of the hotel and the grounds and the pool are very nice. It has great potential but the place is in need of refurbishing and modernising as it is very dated with some maintenance issues. But the big problem was that the radiator in our room was on full blast and they said they could not turn the heating off without turning the water off for the entire building. They wouldn't move us to another unit and no apology was even offered for the inconvenience. They had no fans and they suggested we go out and buy one. We stayed during a 35 degree heatwave and this was unbearable. Hence the 2*
