Windermere Manor Hotel

The staff were really friendly and efficient. The pool was an excellent facility. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay but a few observations: In a double room a second chair would have been more comfortable for tv watching The conservatory was rather cold, the piano lounge was not much used and would have made a more comfortable dining area My partner has some mobility issues and the Xmas decoration preventing use of the stair handrail made the stairs somewhat difficult Breakfast would be improved by the addition of tomatoes and mushrooms More coat hooks to avoid putting wet coats in the wardrobe would help We were considerably concerned, indeed frightened, by a fire alarm test with no warning - we had to ask if it was real

This hotel was excellent for the dogs especially the enclosed dog run. Nice pool. Freindly staff. Good breakfast. Central location. Easy walk to windermere.

We had a 2 night stay here. Our first time staying at this hotel. We are looking to visit again. Dog friendly. Which is essential for us. Allowed everywhere but swimming pool (understandable) and 1 lounge room. There was a good size run free area for dogs. Which we used. We found the hotel to be nice. Nice comfy areas to sit and chill. A light airy conservatory to eat food in. Bar area with tables to eat at. Food was good. Service was good and polite. Room was clean and tidy. Beds comfortable. There was always parking space. A nice outdoor seating area. We used the pool a couple of times. Towels available and shower area with shampoo and body wash. A basic pool that starts at 1m deep and goes to 1.5m deep. Overall it was a nice place to stay.

Good sized room, clean, well motivated and polite staff. A quiet location, safe, some parts of the hotel in the process of modernization. Electric car charging points. A small indoor pool, very quiet.

Had a fantastic stay, child friendly, dog friendly and just really helpful staff. The grounds are stunning and i appreciate the enclosed area for the dog. The pool was lovely and warm, and the chess board outside was a lovely feature

We enjoyed our stay and found the facilities to be excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful, the parking was safe and convenient, and the property was well-kept. The peaceful and quiet location was a real plus.

The buffet breakfast was a bit limited but very adequate. The parking is limited but its sitaution requires a car. Fortunately I got the last parking space one evening.

1 night stay, so didn't have enough time to try out the pool, but otherwise an enjoyable stay. Staff were amazingly friendly, helpful and informative. Room was nice size with comfy bed and little extras like robes and slippers. Only issue was no shower gel in shower just shampoo and conditioner. Had an evening meal which we thoroughly enjoyed. Possibly a little short staffed in the evening, but the women, who appeared to be the duty manager, was on top of everything and copingg efficiently My one complaint would be I had asked before arrival about access to EV charger and was told it was on a first come first served basis. On arrival 2 cars were either side of the charger. One was ICE and the other hybrid. Neither were using charger even though there were half a dozen free parking bays. With only 13% left I was able to squeeze into a small bay at end and run cable to car. I didn't have to ask the hotel to intervene, but I wonder what they could have done anyway if a had. Especially as the EV charger was a deciding factor in choosing this hotel Would definitely come back and for more than a single night next time, but would hope that they look at a more robust policy regarding the charger.

Nice location and room was nice too although there were cobwebs in the bathroom and the mattress had seen better days

Showed 3 rooms and all were untidy, dirty, dated and not representative of the pics showed online. Total waste of my weekend off as I refused to stay in any of the three rooms so travelled back home to Newcastle as all other accommodation in the area was fully booked, not amused in the slightest.

As I booked on Hotels.com I didn't realise that this hotel is ULTA pet friendly. We stayed in their annex a spacious superior room with a lovely outdoor patio area. When we went in the room there was a strong odour of shake & vac and on the patio there was a full doggy bag left on the edge of the area, plus a full ashtray ! As the strong smell from the shake & vac wore off there was a stinky dog smell in the room. Behind the annex there's a dog walk which was full of poo left everywhere. That night I had an asthma attack and the next morning asked the receptionist if we could move to another room, she was very unhelpful and accusative, she said she would speak to the manager. I know I should have done more research before I booked, but they could have been more understanding. I gave them a few hours and called in the afternoon, the new receptionist didn't know anything about my request but offered to check, no more news from them until we returned later and another receptionist who didn't know anything ! I couldn't stay another night so we decided to leave and go home early. Very unsatisfactory. Unless you are dog people looking for a doggy resort do not book this hotel.

We had a room in 'the cottage'. Had to turn the radiators off on arrival as the heat was unbearable, although two of the windows were open. We had to leave the windows open when we were out to try and coool the room, which wasn't good for security as it was ground floor with an open copse of trees outside. One of the window latches was snapped off and left lying on the window sill. The sofa in the room was quite heavily stained and dirty. We requested the cleaners not to clean our room after the first night of our stay as they arrived mid afternoon. When the cleaners left the room after the second night of our stay, only a bin liner had been changed in the mini kitchen bin. There were still coffee stains on the worktop where we had left the spoon as we didn't have a cloth to clean the worktop. The room had not been vacuumed as there were still signs of leaves in both the room and the foyer between ours and the adjoining room. The shower was very powerful and could not be adjusted to warm without the water pressure increasing. Once running, the floor drain couldn't not cope with the volume of water and the bathroom flooded. We had to use the floor mat as a dam to stop the water running under the door. After the cleaners left, the floor mat was still where it had been left, the bathroom bin had not been emptied and there was no evidence that bathroom had been cleaned. Breakfast was OK but a choice of egg other than the anaemic and possibly powdered egg would have been good.

The room was abit dusty and had a few spider and spider webs and also dead bees on the stairs

Very helpful friendly staff. Food was good and tasty. Room had a couple of cobwebs however clean bedding and bathroom. Nice and warm for January temperatures. Lovely clean carpets throughout with clean upholstered chairs. There were scuffs on the wood panelling throughout and some paint needed attention

Interesting place, a little long in the tooth. Main desk was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was not ready at 7AM. Rooms could use toilet paper holders and washcloths. Room service did not replace my coffee cups or water and did not make my bed or replace used towels. They did empty the trash. I was at the end of a second floor hall and it took FOREVER for the water to warm up enough for a comfortable, but not hot, shower. Bathrooms could use an active fan to cut down on the humidity and the damp. 1st floor chairs and sofas were not very comfortable.

A Lovely hotel in a nice location, very close to the lake and the vilage. Very dog friendly. Our dog loved the walking area. We had a lovely big room with a balcony, it was very clean and well equipped. Friendly staff. We had a lovely stay.

I have stayed at Windermere Manor a few times before, but this time my room was substandard. The cleanliness of the room was questionable, with mould very visible on several windows and rust and stains on the carpet next to the radiator (I have taken photos). Also, no full length mirror in the room, just a small wall mounted mirror in the bathroom. The staff however were lovely. But, I will genuinely think twice before staying here again.

Downstairs room extremely noisy from upstairs clientele. Burger for dinner was nice. Fish bland, sausages overcooked and dry. Breakfast good.

Breakfast was excellent, and the restaurant staff were absolutely fantastic throughout our stay. We also had afternoon tea on our first day, which was one of the best we’ve had, delicious food and brilliant service. The only downsides were a very loud barman on our first night and the receptionist being hard to find when we arrived, but things improved after that. The hotel is in a great location and very dog friendly, which made it ideal for us. Overall, a really enjoyable stay and we’d happily return.

Really enjoyed our stay here, staff very friendly and helpful, we stayed in an annex and its was lovely and clean, it would have been nice to have a small fridge to keep snacks and water cold but other then that our needs were fulfilled, and the views were breathtaking

A complete rip off for the money! £180 a night for a small double bed. Horrible sponge pillows, uncomfortable bed, creaky floorboards and decor that’s very tired and dated!

The hotel is old & a bit tired in places, but comfortable. Beds are comfy. Our room on the first floor was well ventilated, but the attic rooms are less so. A car is required unless you’re a good walker as it’s 1.5 miles from Bowness.

We stayed in annex 31 it was really nice very spacious good shower and large bath parking straight outside, breakfast was very nice, we will definitely be returning to the annex room

Hotel overall is really nice, beds extremely comfortable, room nice and warm. In a very quiet location, but handy enough to walk into Windermere, about 20 mins walk. Our room, was a bit dated, needed some maintenance. Took a long time for the water to get hot for a shower, bathroom door didn’t fit, and extensive staining on then bathroom ceiling. Floor boards very squeaky. That said, we loved the hotel. Breakfast was good, evening meal was excellent. Has some nice character in the lounge area. Parking in site was ok, small overspill car park at the side. There’s also offsite parking which is chargeable. My advice, get there early, get a space, and either walk or get public transport, £2 per person single fair anywhere, great value!

I stayed at this property with my 6 year old daughter for two nights while we did a ‘Mummy & Daughter’ trip. I have quite high standards and enjoy a bit of luxury. The hotel room was a decent size and clean despite being very simple. Mattress was not comfy (two defined dips), bathroom was large and several windows provided fresh air. Breakfast was ok - a couple of choices of cereal, toast and full English selection. Dinner was also ok but nothing fresh - curry, burger, sausage/mash etc. Location excellent and plenty of parking - you can walk to town and there are many restaurant options there (I recommend Tilly’s which even served freshly cooked broccoli - those of you with children will know how hard it is to find a restaurant serving plain vegetables!) Staff ok - welcoming reception but waiters few and far between and lacking charm. Pool ok - clean and accessible with free towels but way too hot. Like a bath. Overall good enough value for money and delivers an ok experience.

Brilliant 1 night stay. Spacious clean room. Breakfast was nice. Parking on site. 25min walk to the centre of Bowness. The only slight bad point was a member of staff in the office behind reception F-ing and jeffing very loud about another member of staff while we were checking in.

Really pleased with our early January rate & overall hotel stay. Booked the family room with a dog & was more than spacious. Enjoyed very nice breakfast & use of the pool. All the staff gave a lovely welcome.

Items on the dinner menu were not available. Staff shortages made service very inefficient.

Excellent experience over 2 rooms between family. One member disabled and accessible room was brilliant. Second room was very good but unfortunately servicing was missed on 2nd day.

Could do some upgrades with the rooms but the staff were amazing. Special shout out to the manager Gareth who made the weekend away extra special

My friend and I stayed at the Windermere manor for a night. When checking in staff were friendly. We stayed in the Anex building which was down a little path. A lovely young man called Matthew carried out bags to the room for us and then helpfully went and got us two glasses for our bottle of wine. We missed breakfast in the morning unfortunately but went and got a coffee after check out. The man who served our coffee seemed like it was bit of an inconvenience and wasn’t very friendly. The room we stayed in was very spacious n had everything we needed but could’ve done with a refurb or even just a lick of paint as there were marks all over the walls. Overall it was a nice stay. The main hotel and grounds were lovely to look at and it was nice to see squirrels in the gardens in the morning.

Raised a concern with management and it was resolved very promptly and correctly. Good friendly staff.

Hotel was ideal for our couple of nights away, by the lake and not far from restaurants and bars. Boat hire is about a mile but its a nice walk. Friendly staff always greeted with a smile.

Hotel fine, a little walk to Windermere or Bowness but good location. Swimming Pool a lovely bonus

Wonderful view and friendly staff. Would‘ve been easier to get to in the rain if we had a car but it is definitely walkable.

Breakfast options were very limited. Hardly any fruit. Coffee machine was not working on one of the mornings and not one member of staff offered an alternative drink? Very poor.

We had a great stay here. So well-designed for families with dogs (amongst others) the pool was a win for the kids and a lot of thought has gone into making staying with a dog convenient and comfortable. Breakfast is included which we all appreciated and had a good range of options. Restaurant menu is broad and quality is fine - I think what you would expect for functional hotel/pub restaurant. Staff were friendly and efficient throughout.

Beautiful old hotel lovely staff set in very nice gardens fantastic anex room very spacious unfortunately the buffet breakfast was horrible maybe they should think about providing breakfast cooked to order even if they have to charge extra as this let it down

The building and grounds were very pleasing and the swimming pool was excellent, however, the restaurant was poorly equipped and the food was obviously reliant on the freezers, microwave and deep fat fryer. One waiter felt it necessary to remove items from our breakfast table before we had finished using them. Our room TV was resting on the dressing table and was not fixed to anything as we we found out when it fell off!

Very homey feel. The staff was amazing, very hard working and super nice. The food was a huge surprise because it was so good. The back garden is a wonderful place to hang in good weather. The property is very well located close to town.

We went to the Hotel for our wedding anniversary and had a great time We are in the Hotel and the food was great

The swimming pool was great but the dinner menu was very dissapointing and the hotel location was too far from town to walk for dinner in the evening
