I loved this hotel. The staff was wonderful. Dinner wasn’t bad but not mind-blowing. Breakfast was pretty good. You could tell that every detail of the room was chosen meticulously for comfort and a smaller environmental footprint. The outdoor space in the back was heavenly to watch the sunrise. I was even lucky enough to have a bunny come hangout with me.

Ah, what a gem of a place! A bit off the beaten track, but that's exactly what I was looking for and the Galley of Lorn did not disappoint. The overall air is casual, the staff are friendly and chatty, and nothing is too much trouble. The whole interior looks fairly recently updated, but it's left with enough older features to retain some character. The rooms are all named after Scottish islands, and we stayed in Skye. The room is black and gold decor, done well, not at all overstated. Usual tea and coffee, small fridge (tiny, and tucked inside one of the bedside cabinets,) a safe, hairdryer... Most, if not all, the things you might reasonably expect. The television is probably the largest I've ever seen in any hotel room, which was excellent, and there's an Alexa Show by the bed as well. The bed itself is relatively firm, which suits us entirely. The bathroom is clean and modern. It has an excellent waterfall shower in a double sized shower cubicle, with good water pressure. And then there's the view from the room onto an inlet of Loch Craignish; I'll add pictures. Food, excellent, no complaints. Large plates of well made meals with a focus on locally sourced produce, from Cristian the chef... Don't tell him it's excellent, his head is said to be big enough already. Must mention Laura, receptionist/ barmaid/ waitress, for just being excellent all round.

Not the greatest stay. The room was mostly clean but there were cobwebs around the ceilings and black mould at the bathroom sink. We were given a very welcoming check in tho.

We were greeted at the Reception by Andrew the Owner and shown to our room by Amanda both of them were very friendly polite and helpful . Our Room was lovely and had everything that we needed in it . The Breakfast was excellent compliments to the Chef also the Girls in the Bar were very friendly and helpful we enjoyed our stay and will be back again.

The heaters in the room were not working or not hot enough to heat the room properly. We spent most of the night freezing and had to put on several layers to keep warm. I tried to go out in the lobby and hit the call button for someone but no one answered. In the pub, the bartenders didn’t seem to want to service us. There were only a few people in the pub but trying to wave down the bartender or to try to order something was just ignored. They came over to us when they felt like it. The food was ok, just a bit below par for pub food. It’s a shame because it a beautiful place and a beautiful town, and it’s a cozy inn with a great view. The customer service just needs to come up.

The food and staff were excellent, delicious supper and breakfast. The major problem for us was the room. Make sure you are not in the IONA Suite. It is not a suite and the bedroom does not have a window. This was not explained to me when we booked and feel we were misled. We asked to change rooms but none were available so were stuck with it. As a long time user of Expedia we feel very let down and mis-sold.

We absolutely loved our stay with at the Lorne Galley hotel. From our friendly welcome to the hospitality. We had a really wonderful stay. Just felt like home. Thanks for the tips on the Viaduct stop over for a picture.. was an incredible spot. Will be back for sure! And loved the dogs!! Thanks again.

The staff were extremely helpful, especially Amanda. As I was running late due to traffic I would have missed last order for eating, spoke with Amanda who said they would keep the kitchen open a little longer. We were greeted at the Reception by Andrew the Owner and shown to our room by Amanda both of them were very friendly polite and helpful . Our Room was lovely and had everything that we needed in it . The Breakfast was excellent compliments to the Chef also the Girls in the Bar were very friendly and helpful we enjoyed our stay and will be back again.

Avoid This Hotel – No Power, No Refund, No Accountability I booked The Galley of Lorne Inn for October 2025 through Expedia. On arrival, the hotel had no power and was completely inoperable following a storm. Staff told us we could not stay and that a refund would be arranged through Expedia. Days later, Expedia confirmed they had contacted the property, but the owner refused to authorize the refund, citing a strict cancellation policy even though the hotel could not accommodate guests. Expedia’s agent said they had pushed for flexibility, but the property would not cooperate. Just returned home,stayed at this very good peaceful hotel ,Andrew was busy planting up in his very nice garden to this hotel,and offered us to change out of our motorbike gear as it was very hot as we arrived early. We had the most amazing breakfast ,did not get the young lady that made this but she was very helpful on our on going journey to the ferry. The room was lovley. Well done galley of the lorne.and staff. Bob and Anne

Ardfern is a very pretty village and a great springboard to explore Argyll. The decor is dark but there are tables outside and a great view of the loch from the picnic benches out back. The bar area has a great feel and a regular stream of sailors from the local marina
